Abstract

This study the roles of career development, leadership styles, and employee resilience in shaping employee performance across organizational contexts. Using a PRISMA 2020-guided approach, the study synthesizes relevant empirical literature to identify dominant relationships, explanatory mechanisms, and unresolved research gaps. The review indicates that career development tends to enhance performance by expanding employees’ competencies, clarifying career prospects, strengthening motivation, and reinforcing organizational commitment. Leadership styles also play a central role in creating work conditions that influence employee motivation, job satisfaction, engagement, and performance. Transformational and supportive leadership are generally associated with positive performance outcomes, whereas passive or ineffective leadership may hinder employee effectiveness. Employee resilience supports sustained performance by helping employees adapt to workplace change, recover from adversity, and remain effective under demanding conditions. However, the available literature remains fragmented because many studies are cross-sectional, sector-specific, and focused primarily on direct relationships. This review therefore highlights the need for integrated research models that examine career development, leadership styles, and employee resilience simultaneously, including potential mediating mechanisms and contextual boundary conditions. The study provides implications for future research and human resource practices aimed at improving sustainable employee performance.
