HEALING DURATION OF SUPERFICIAL WOUNDS AFTER SUNNAH CUPPING THERAPY: A LITERATURE REVIEW

Isdianto, Andik, Fitrianti, Novariza
Abstract: Sunnah cupping therapy is widely recognized as a traditional treatment believed to eliminate stagnant blood, enhance circulation, and accelerate healing. However, concerns remain regarding wound depth and skin recovery duration,… uration, especially in clinical settings. This study aims to systematically review scientific literature on the healing duration of superficial wounds resulting from cupping, factors influencing recovery, and the effectiveness of herbal topical treatments in supporting natural skin regeneration. A systematic literature review was conducted using publications from 2015 to 2025 sourced from PubMed, Scopus, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar. The analysis focused on non-surgical superficial wounds, post-cupping wound management, and the use of olive oil, black seed oil, and coconut oil in complementary traditional therapy. Findings indicate that cupping incisions typically reach only the epidermis and upper dermis, with a depth of 0.5–1 mm. These minor wounds generally heal within 3 to 7 days, depending on patient age, skin condition, anatomical location, and aftercare quality. The application of topical herbal agents has been shown to enhance healing through anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and regenerative mechanisms. In conclusion, Sunnah cupping can be classified as a safe and non-invasive therapy with a relatively short healing duration. Herbal-based wound care offers a natural, accessible, and effective treatment alternative, supporting the integration of cupping therapy into modern evidence-based complementary medicine. Further development of standardized post-cupping care protocols is recommended to optimize clinical implementation and ensure consistent patient outcomes.

OPTIMIZING INCISION DEPTH IN SUNNAH CUPPING THERAPY FOR SAFETY AND THERAPEUTIC EFFICACY

Isdianto, Andik, Fitrianti, Novariza
Abstract: This study aims to evaluate the impact of incision depth in Sunnah cupping therapy on safety and therapeutic efficacy, with a focus on identifying the optimal incision depth that minimizes risks while maximizing therapeutic… tic benefits. The method used is a literature review, gathering data from scientific databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar using keywords related to cupping therapy, incision depth, and dermatological aspects. The findings reveal that an incision depth of 0.5 mm to 1 mm in the dermis layer not only avoids damage to the deeper hypodermis but is also sufficient for the effective extraction of stagnant blood. This very light incision provides advantages in enhancing blood circulation and facilitating the extraction of stagnant blood necessary in cupping therapy. This approach, involving extremely light incisions, cannot be considered invasive and is highly suitable for enhancing therapy efficacy without compromising patient safety. Further discussion in the study highlights that with the correct incision technique, cupping therapy can become safer and more effective, encouraging significant improvements in immune response and tissue regeneration. The conclusion of this study underscores the importance of standardizing procedures and adequate training for cupping practitioners to ensure safe and effective practices. Further research is recommended to strengthen the evidence related to the effectiveness and safety of cupping therapy and to develop more detailed standard protocols.

Isdianto, Andik, Al Indunissy, Nuruddin, Fitrianti, Novariza
Abstract: This study explores the psychological fortification offered by the Islamic practices of tawakal (reliance on God) and dzikir (remembrance of God) in addressing modern challenges, such as increased anxiety due to technological… gical advances and complex social needs. Employing a literature review methodology, this research investigates the influence of these practices on mental health and behavioral implications. The selection of peer-reviewed articles published within the last ten years involved databases like PubMed and Google Scholar with keywords related to Islamic spirituality and mental health. This method allowed a comprehensive analysis of contemporary studies, focusing on the therapeutic benefits of tawakal and dzikir in clinical settings. Results indicate that tawakal significantly reduces anxiety by fostering a relinquishing of control and instilling peace of mind, while dzikir enhances emotional stability through its meditative repetition of sacred phrases, promoting relaxation and reducing stress responses. Both practices not only support spiritual well-being but also offer practical coping mechanisms in stressful situations. The conclusion underlines the potential integration of tawakal and dzikir into conventional psychotherapeutic practices. It suggests further exploration into the incorporation of these spiritual elements within mental health frameworks to enhance therapeutic outcomes and patient recovery. This research contributes to the broader discourse on the intersection of spirituality and psychology, highlighting the relevance of traditional spiritual practices in contemporary mental health paradigms.

Isdianto, Andik, Al Indunissy, Nuruddin, Fitrianti , Novariza
Abstract: This study evaluates the impact of mental health disorders such as stress, anxiety, and depression on the risk of various physical illnesses, including cardiovascular diseases, type 2 diabetes, obesity, immune system disorders,… orders, respiratory conditions, skin disorders, digestive ailments, and osteoporosis. Employing a literature review methodology, the research analyzed data from previous studies, uncovering that mental disorders elevate the risk of cardiovascular diseases through oxidative stress and systemic inflammation mechanisms. The link between stress and glycemic dysregulation in type 2 diabetes highlights a trend towards increased insulin resistance. Depression, closely associated with obesity, is often exacerbated by unhealthy eating habits used as coping mechanisms. Chronic stress-induced immune system disorders result in decreased immune responses, while respiratory issues such as asthma are intensified by increased anxiety. Skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema frequently worsen due to psychological stress. In digestive disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome, stress contributes to more severe symptoms, and osteoporosis is similarly affected by chronic stress impacting bone metabolism. These findings affirm the critical importance of routine mental health screenings and the integration of effective public health interventions in overall health management, as exemplified by the Rehab Hati Foundation. Public health programs that enhance mental health can aid in preventing and managing physical illnesses, improving life quality, and reducing overall health burdens. The conclusion highlights the essential role of effective mental health management as both a preventive and therapeutic strategy.
