ELECTRONIC WORD OF MOUTH ANDA RELIGIOSITY ON PURCHSE INTENTION: THE MODERATING ROLE OF BRAND HATE AMONG STARBUCKS CONSUMERS IN INDONESIA

Shilmy Diyani, Putu Nina Madiawati, Nurafni Rubiyanti
Abstract: The emergence of consumer boycotts driven by socio-political issues reflects a fundamental shift in consumer behavior in the digital era. In Indonesia, a country characterized by high religiosity and extensive social media… ia engagement, the rapid dissemination of negative information through electronic word of mouth (e-WOM) can trigger strong emotional reactions toward brands. Starbucks Indonesia represents a salient case in which the brand became associated with the Israel–Palestine conflict, generating moral debates, religious sentiments, and intense brand-related hostility in digital spaces. In this context, consumers act not merely as rational economic actors, but as moral agents whose purchasing decisions are influenced by deeply held values and beliefs. This study aims to examine the effects of e-WOM and religiosity on purchase intention, with brand hate serving as a moderating variable among Starbucks consumers in Indonesia. Specifically, the research investigates how exposure to negative online narratives and consumers’ religiosity shape emotional responses in the form of brand hate, and how these responses influence purchasing intentions within a boycott context. A quantitative research design was employed using a survey method targeting Starbucks consumers in Indonesia who were aware of the boycott related to the Israel–Palestine conflict. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using structural equation modeling to assess both direct and indirect relationships among variables, including the moderating role of brand hate. This approach enables a comprehensive understanding of the psychological and behavioral mechanisms underlying consumer responses to value-laden and morally sensitive issues. The findings reveal that electronic word of mouth has a significant effect on purchase intention. Religiosity also influences purchase intention, both directly and indirectly through the formation of brand hate. Moreover, brand hate significantly moderates the relationship between e-WOM and purchase intention, such that higher levels of brand hate intensify the decline in consumers’ willingness to purchase. These results highlight the critical role of morally driven negative emotions in explaining reduced purchase intention during boycott movements. This study contributes theoretically by extending consumer behavior literature through the integration of digital communication, religiosity, and negative brand emotions within a single conceptual framework. Practically, the findings suggest that global brand managers should adopt culturally and religiously sensitive communication strategies and proactively manage digital narratives to mitigate the escalation of brand hate amid socio-political controversies.

Abstract: Learning difficulties among higher education students remain a critical issue, particularly in Islamic higher education institutions that integrate academic, moral, and spiritual dimensions. This study aims to analyze students’… udents’ learning difficulties from three main perspectives: psychological factors, learning strategies, and learning management at the Institute of Islamic Studies (Institut Agama Islam) Padang Lawas. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, involving observations, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. The participants consisted of undergraduate students and lecturers selected through purposive sampling. The findings reveal that students’ learning difficulties are strongly influenced by psychological factors such as low learning motivation, academic anxiety, limited self-confidence, and weak self-regulated learning skills. ANALYSIS OF THE ROLE OF PERCEIVED USEFULNESS AND PERCEIVED EASE OF USE IN THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FINANCIAL BEHAVIORAL BIASES AND BITCOIN INVESTMENT DECISIONS AMONG GENERATION Z USERS OF TOKOCRYPTO AND INDODAX

Silvi Amisha Putri, Budi Rustandi Kartawinata, Agus Maolana Hidayat
Abstract: This study aims to analyze the role of perceived usefulness (PU) and perceived ease of use (PEOU) in mediating the relationship between financial behavioral biases—namely financial literacy (FL), overconfidence (OC), and… nd risk tolerance (RT)—and Bitcoin investment decisions among Generation Z in Indonesia, using the Tokocrypto and Indodax platforms. Employing a quantitative approach with a survey of 360 active Generation Z investors, data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The findings indicate that financial literacy, risk tolerance, PU, and PEOU have a direct positive and significant effect on Bitcoin investment decisions. Overconfidence, however, showed no significant direct effect. Furthermore, PU and PEOU partially mediated the relationships between financial literacy and investment decisions, as well as between risk tolerance and investment decisions. Notably, PEOU emerged as the strongest mediating pathway, particularly for risk tolerance. Conversely, neither PU nor PEOU mediated the relationship between overconfidence and investment decisions. This research contributes theoretically by integrating Behavioral Finance theory with the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) in the context of high-risk digital assets. Practically, it offers insights for platform developers to enhance user experience and design targeted financial education, and for regulators to formulate behaviorally-informed investor protection policies.

A SYSTEMATIC LITERATURE REVIEW OF THE DIMENSIONS OF DIGITAL LEADERSHIP THAT AFFECT TEAM PERFORMANCE

Ratbyansa Nur, Agung Surya Dwianto
Abstract: Amidst a digitized business landscape, Digital Leadership (DL) has emerged as a crucial predictor of Team Performance. However, a fundamental question arises: which dimensions of digital leadership truly drive performance… e technical skills (tech-savviness), strategic vision, or relational skills? This study uses a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) of 51 articles to deconstruct digital leadership into four main dimensions: (1) Technological, (2) Visionary-Strategic, (3) Relational-Emotional, and (4) Structural-Managerial. The findings reveal an unexpected pattern: the technological dimension only acts as a hygiene factor, while the structural-managerial and visionary-strategic dimensions show the most consistent impact on team performance. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the relational dimension is highly context-dependent, strong in small Agile teams but NOT significant in large bureaucratic organizations. These findings suggest a reframing of the conventional assumption that “digital leaders” must start with technical expertise, and instead suggest that organizations should train digital talent in soft skills and strategic vision, or train existing visionary leaders in basic digital literacy.

Muhammad Nashi Huddin Ubaidillah, Rima Mella, Khusnul Fatimah, Zulfan, Khairawati
Abstract: This study investigates the forms and functions of illocutionary acts in the film Norah (2023) using a qualitative descriptive approach. The research problem centers on how dialogic interactions and rural Saudi socio-cultural… tural contexts shape the distribution of illocutionary types. Data were collected via observation and note-taking, then classified according to Searle’s five categories (assertive, directive, commissive, expressive, declarative) and analyzed through three stages: data collection, analysis, and presentation. The findings reveal that illocutionary speech acts in the film Norah are dominated by directives in the form of commands, prohibitions, and invitations, which highlight the speaker’s role in controlling actions. In addition, expressive and commissive acts appear in the form of advice, requests, and polite expressions that function to maintain harmony and interpersonal closeness. Overall, the use of illocutionary acts in the film reflects social relations and the dynamics of everyday interaction in rural Arab society.

Lenny Kurnia Octaviani, Sugiarto, Tonny Hendratono, D. Rudi Susanto
Abstract: This study aims to analyze the influence of multi-stakeholder collaboration on the resilience of tourism activities and to examine the mediating role of sustainable tourism management within a community-based tourism village… lage context. A quantitative explanatory research design was employed, using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The research was conducted in Nglanggeran Tourism Village, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia, with data collection carried out in 2025. A total of 90 respondents were selected through purposive sampling based on their active involvement in village tourism activities. The three main constructs, namely multi-stakeholder collaboration, sustainable tourism management, and tourism activity resilience, were measured using a 5-point Likert scale instrument. PLS-SEM analysis was employed to evaluate the measurement and structural models, encompassing assessments of validity, reliability, R², Q², and hypothesis testing via bootstrapping. Findings indicate that multi-stakeholder collaboration has a positive and significant effect on both sustainable tourism management and tourism activity resilience. Sustainable tourism management also shows a positive and considerable influence on tourism activity resilience. Furthermore, a partial mediation effect was identified, wherein sustainable tourism management strengthens the impact of multi-stakeholder collaboration on the strength of tourism activities. Structured and inclusive multi-stakeholder collaboration, when integrated with sustainable tourism management practices, enhances the resilience of tourism activities in community-based destinations. These results underscore the crucial importance of collaborative governance and sustainable management practices in fostering destination sustainability and resilience.

LEGAL DISCOVERY BY JUDGES IN ADDRESSING THE AMBIGUITY OF “DEALER” AND “USER” ELEMENTS IN ARTICLES 114, 112, AND 127 OF THE NARCOTICS LAW

Irwan Triadi, Dhikma Heradika, Abelmart Sihombing, Bayu Giri Atmojo
Abstract: The ambiguity of the elements “dealer” and “user” in Articles 114, 112, and 127 of Law Number 35 of 2009 on Narcotics creates legal uncertainty in the practice of criminal justice. These three provisions often overlap in… erlap in law enforcement, particularly when investigators and public prosecutors apply more severe charges without comprehensively examining the legal construction of the defendant’s actions, including the social and situational context behind them. This study is a normative legal research that examines the doctrine of judicial legal discovery, principles of criminal law, and the principle of proportionality in sentencing in a more in-depth and structured manner. The results of the study indicate that judges have the authority to interpret the elements of narcotics criminal acts systematically, grammatically, and teleologically to clearly distinguish between “abusive users” and “dealers with the intent to distribute.” Legal discovery is needed to prevent overcriminalization and to ensure the protection of the rights of suspects and defendants throughout the entire criminal justice process. This study concludes that the appropriate method of interpretation is an integration of systematic interpretation, teleological interpretation, and the ratio legis of the Narcotics Law.
