PROFITABILITY RATIO ANALYSIS AS A MEASURE OF FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE OF PT MALINDO FEEDMILL TBK FOR THE 2021-2024 PERIOD

Dani, Rahmat, Usmar, Andi
Abstract: This study was conducted to analyse profitability ratios as a measure of financial performance at PT Malindo Feedmill Tbk (MAIN) for the period 2021-2024. The animal feed industry faces challenges of high production costs,… s, ranging from 85-90%, as well as dependence on unstable imported raw materials. The research method used is quantitative descriptive with purposive sampling techniques on the company's consolidated financial statements. The indicators used to analyse the data include Gross Profit Margin (GPM), Net Profit Margin (NPM), Return on Assets (ROA), and Return on Equity (ROE). In 2022, net profit fell sharply by 57% to RP 27 billion due to production cost pressures. However, in 2024, the company managed to recover with a net profit of RP 489.8 billion. This unique finding shows an increase in Return on Assets (ROA) of 9.10% in 2024 despite a decline in assets. This shows that management has succeeded in eliminating unproductive assets and optimising production efficiency. The effectiveness of cost transformation and the company's operational resilience to market fluctuations are reflected in a Return on Equity (ROE) of 18.61% at the end of the period.

REFRAMING PHILANTHROPY: STAKEHOLDER COLLABORATION AND THE ECOLOGY OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Eko Muliansyah, Muh Gani Irwansyah
Abstract: Philanthropy has increasingly evolved from a form of charitable assistance into a strategic actor within sustainable development processes. However, much of the existing practice and literature still treats philanthropy… as an isolated or supplementary intervention, limiting its potential to generate systemic and long-term impact. This article aims to critically examine the role of philanthropic institutions within a broader ecosystem of sustainable development, emphasizing the importance of multi-stakeholder collaboration involving government, the private sector, academia, and local communities. Using a qualitative literature review with a conceptual and analytical orientation, this study synthesizes scholarly works on philanthropy, collaborative governance, corporate social responsibility, Islamic philanthropy, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a particular focus on Indonesia and the Global South. The analysis demonstrates that philanthropic contributions become more effective and sustainable when embedded within an integrated development ecology, rather than operating through fragmented and project-based approaches. The findings highlight philanthropy’s strategic roles as a catalyst for social innovation, a bridge between sectors, and a facilitator of long-term social investment. Islamic philanthropic instruments such as zakat and productive waqf further illustrate how value-based financial mechanisms can support inclusive development when professionally managed and aligned with national and global development agendas. This study contributes conceptually by reframing philanthropy as a system-level change agent within a sustainable development ecology, offering an integrative lens for understanding collaboration, governance, and impact. The article concludes that sustainable development is best achieved not through isolated institutional efforts, but through coordinated, trust-based ecosystems in which philanthropy plays a transformative and connective role.

Based on these findings, it is recommended that the management of PT Pelindo Regional 2 prioritize a fair and performance-based compensation system, as it has been proven to be the most dominant factor in improving employee performance. Furthermore, career development and competence enhancement should be accompanied by proportional rewards and welfare improvements to ensure productive outcomes and encourage optimal employee contributions.

TERRORISM AS AN ASYMMETRIC WARFARE STRATEGY: THE CHECHEN WAR AND THE STRATEGIC ROLE OF SHAMIL BASAYEV

Muhamad Shamil Bashayev
Abstract: The Chechen War represents a paradigmatic case of asymmetric warfare in which terrorism was employed as a strategic instrument by non-state actors. This article examines terrorism not merely as ideological extremism, but… as a coercive strategy shaped by structural power asymmetries between Chechen separatist groups and the Russian state. Using a qualitative historical approach combined with literature review and critical discourse analysis, the study analyzes the role of Shamil Basayev through the Budennovsk hostage crisis (1995) and the Kizlyar–Pervomayskoye attack (1996) as key turning points in the Chechen conflict. The findings demonstrate that terrorism functioned as an effective short-term tactic by generating political pressure and public attention, while simultaneously producing long-term strategic costs in the form of international delegitimization and intensified state repression. This article concludes that terrorism in asymmetric warfare exhibits a strategic paradox: it may be rational and effective in specific contexts, yet ultimately counterproductive to long-term political objectives.

POPULATION DYNAMICS AND THE CHALLENGES OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

Andi Jalal Al Afgan, Supriadi Torro
Abstract: This study aims to analyze population dynamics and the challenges of sustainable development in Indonesia from a social, economic, and environmental perspective. Population dynamics, including population growth, urbanization,… tion, internal migration, and changes in demographic structure, have become determining factors in the success of development. The method used is a qualitative approach with a literature review sourced from official documents, scientific journals, and reports from international institutions. The results show that rapid population growth and uncontrolled urbanization have led to spatial inequality, reduced green open space, pressure on public infrastructure, and increased environmental degradation. Furthermore, unpreparedness in spatial planning and weak integration of population data into development policies exacerbate socio-economic imbalances between regions. The shift in demographic structure toward a predominance of the productive age group presents the opportunity for a demographic bonus, but also the risk of a demographic burden if not balanced by improvements in the quality of human resources. This study emphasizes that successful sustainable development requires data-driven, gender-equitable, environmentally friendly, and participatory population policies. The integration of technologies such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and spatial analysis is a strategic step in realizing inclusive, adaptive, and sustainable development for future generations.

A PLISSIT-BASED COMPREHENSIVE SEXUAL EDUCATION INTERVENTION ON ATTITUDES TOWARDS HIV TRANSMISSION PREVENTION IN ADOLESCENTS: A GENDER EQUALITY PERSPECTIVE

Nirwanto K. Rahim, Erwin Purwanto
Abstract: Adolescents are a vulnerable group to the risks of sexual violence and HIV transmission due to limited sexual literacy, insufficient access to accurate reproductive health information, and strong socio-cultural taboos surrounding… rrounding sexuality. Comprehensive interventions are needed to equip adolescents with adequate knowledge, attitudes, and gender-sensitive decision-making skills. This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of a PLISSIT-based Comprehensive Sexual Education intervention in improving adolescents’ attitudes toward HIV transmission prevention from a gender equality perspective. This quasi-experimental study involved 100 students selected through simple random sampling and divided into experimental and control groups. The experimental group received four PLISSIT-based educational sessions integrating gender equality principles, while the control group received conventional sexual education. Data were collected using pre- and post-test questionnaires and analyzed using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. The results showed a substantial improvement in adolescents’ attitudes after the intervention. Prior to the intervention, only 18% of students demonstrated good attitudes toward HIV prevention, while 82% were categorized as poor. After the intervention, 90% of students in the experimental group showed good attitudes, and only 10% remained in the poor category, with a statistically significant difference (p = 0.001). These findings indicate that the PLISSIT-based comprehensive sexual education model is effective in shaping positive attitudes by providing a safe space for discussion, relevant information, and gender-responsive guidance. In conclusion, the PLISSIT-based intervention significantly enhances adolescents’ attitudes toward HIV prevention and can serve as a strategic approach in school-based reproductive health education.
