The implications of this study affirm that improving teacher work team effectiveness must be carried out holistically through strengthening school principals’ transformational leadership, creating a conducive work climate, and developing teachers’ skill variety.

OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY AS A MODERATOR OF THE IMPACT OF ENVIRONMENTAL, SOCIAL, AND GOVERNANCE (ESG) ON FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE: AN EMPIRICAL STUDY OF NON-FINANCIAL COMPANIES LISTED ON THE INDONESIA STOCK EXCHANGE FROM 2014 TO 2023

Khanif Nur Fathurohman, Gatot Nizar Ahmad, Agung Dharmawan Buchdadi
Abstract: This study aims to analyze the influence of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) on the company's financial performance, as well as test the role of operational efficiency as a moderation variable in this relationship.… ship. The research object includes non-financial companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) during the period 2014–2023. ESG variables are measured using Bloomberg's ESG score which includes environmental, social, and governance dimensions, while operational efficiency is proxied by the Total Asset Turnover ratio. Financial performance is proxied by Return on Assets. The research method uses a quantitative approach with panel data regression analysis. The research sample consisted of 80 companies with a total of 711 observations. The results of the study show that ESG has a significant negative effect on financial performance. However, operational efficiency has been shown to play a role as a moderation variable that strengthens the relationship between ESG and financial performance. This research makes a theoretical contribution by enriching the literature on the relationship between ESG and financial performance, especially in the context of emerging markets. From a practical perspective, the results indicate that the implementation of ESG will only create financial value if integrated with internal efficiency strategies. Thus, companies are advised to not only focus on compliance with ESG aspects, but also ensure efficient management of resources to increase long-term profitability.

Muhammad Radhi Almardhi, Sitti Muthmainnah, Tauhidah Bachtiar, Fauziah Bachtiar
Abstract: This Community Partnership Program (PKM) aims to strengthen the character of elementary school students through Islamic competitions. The background of this activity is the importance of character education at the elementary… tary school level, which is a crucial phase in shaping children’s personalities. The implementation method employed a participatory approach by involving students, teachers, and parents in various Islamic competitions, such as the call to prayer (adhan), Qur’anic speech (syarhil Qur’an), Qur’anic recitation (tartil) and memorization (hifdzul Qur’an), calligraphy decoration, and Islamic quiz competitions. These activities were designed not only as competitive events but also as educational media for the internalization of Islamic values such as discipline, responsibility, honesty, cooperation, and self-confidence. The results indicated an increase in students’ motivation to learn religion, discipline in worship, and the development of mutual respect among peers. Therefore, Islamic competitions proved to be effective in strengthening the character of elementary school students while serving as an alternative community service activity that benefits both schools and society.

FOOD SECURITY CHALLENGES AND POLICY RESPONSES IN SOUTH SULAWESI : TOWARD SUSTAINABLE SELF-SUFFICIENCY

Zulkifli, Zulkifli, Dahliana, Besse, Suhartina, Suhartina
Abstract: This study analyzes the challenges of food security and the policy responses of the government in achieving food self-sufficiency in South Sulawesi in 2025. The research aims to identify production-consumption gaps, distribution… ribution bottlenecks, and the impacts of climate variability and agricultural policies on food availability, accessibility, and affordability. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining qualitative and quantitative techniques through household surveys, in-depth interviews with farmers and policymakers, field observations, and secondary data from the Central Statistics Agency and the South Sulawesi Agricultural Department. The results reveal persistent production deficits for rice and soybeans, while corn has reached a surplus, illustrating structural imbalances among staple commodities. Approximately 62% of respondents reported difficulties in transportation and storage due to inadequate infrastructure, contributing to post-harvest losses and unstable food prices. Government programs such as irrigation development, input subsidies, and farmer training have provided partial benefits, yet 57% of farmers indicated irregular access to such support. Moreover, climate shocks such as El Niño continue to depress yields and increase vulnerability among smallholder farmers. Conversely, social capital, manifested in farmer groups and cooperative networks, has played a significant role in sustaining household food availability and resilience. The findings suggest that food security in South Sulawesi cannot be addressed solely through production increases. A multifaceted strategy is required, emphasizing rural infrastructure development, climate-smart agricultural innovation, institutional and irrigation reform, and community-based mechanisms that strengthen social capital. This integrative approach provides empirical evidence for policy design and contributes to the broader discourse on sustainable food self-sufficiency in Indonesia.

ACTIVE JUDGES IN ADVERSARIAL COMMON LAW AND THEIR RELEVANCE TO INDONESIA’S HYBRID CRIMINAL PROCEDURE

Setyawan , Vincentius Patria, Wisnubroto , Aloysius
Abstract: This research examines the relevance of adopting the concept of active judges within adversarial common law traditions to Indonesia’s hybrid criminal procedure. The primary objective is to explore whether the active judge… dge model can strengthen Indonesia’s criminal justice reform without undermining its civil law foundation. This study employs a normative juridical method with a comparative approach, analyzing doctrinal sources, statutory law, and scholarly debates from both civil law and common law perspectives. The findings suggest that while the adversarial system traditionally restricts judges to a passive role, the notion of an active judge has emerged to prevent procedural abuses and ensure substantive justice. For Indonesia, integrating aspects of the active judge model may contribute to enhancing transparency, protecting defendants’ rights, and harmonizing procedural justice with societal expectations. Nevertheless, challenges remain, particularly concerning judicial independence, consistency of application, and potential conflicts with established inquisitorial practices. This study concludes that the adoption of active judge principles must be carefully contextualized, reinforcing Indonesia’s hybrid system rather than replacing its legal traditions.

STRENGTHENING ENGLISH LANGUAGE SKILL: ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNING PROGRAMME BASED ON CONTEXTUAL TEACHING AND LEARNING FOR THE YOUNG GENERATION OF TEGAL ISLAND

Andriyaningsih, Ayu, MS, Vike Aprilianin, Sutiyono, Sutiyono
Abstract: This community service program aimed to enhance the English language skills of elementary school students on Tegal Island, Lampung Province, through the implementation of a Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach.… . Limited English proficiency among local children has long hindered effective communication with foreign visitors and restricted opportunities for community-based tourism development. To address this challenge, the program incorporated basic English vocabulary related to the beach environment into interactive activities, such as songs, games, visual aids, and direct exploration of local surroundings. These methods were designed to provide authentic, engaging, and memorable language learning experiences tailored to the learners’ environment. A pre-test and post-test design was employed to evaluate the program’s effectiveness. The results demonstrated a substantial improvement in students’ vocabulary mastery, with mean scores rising from 61.36 on the pre-test to 89.73 on the post-test. Statistical analysis using a paired sample t-test revealed a significance value of 0.000 (p < 0.05), confirming that CTL significantly enhanced vocabulary acquisition. The normalized gain (N-Gain) indicated a high level of progress among participants, showing consistent improvement across all learners. Beyond cognitive gains, qualitative observations indicated that students exhibited greater confidence, motivation, and environmental awareness as they linked English lessons to familiar contexts. This program illustrates that CTL offers a practical, low-cost, and highly effective strategy for empowering youth in remote island communities. By contextualizing English instruction in real-life settings, CTL not only fosters academic achievement but also supports community engagement, cultural pride, and sustainable human resource development in rural tourism areas.

Sunesni, Sunesni, Radhia, Mekar Zenni, Furwasyih, Dian
Abstract: Home birth selection is a complex decision influenced by various factors. This study aimed to determine the relationship between knowledge and antenatal care (ANC) visits with the decision-making of home birth in the working… king area of Mapaddegat Public Health Center, Mentawai Islands Regency. This research was a descriptive analytic study with a case-control design, conducted from February to May 2025, involving mothers who gave birth and were recorded in the maternal cohort data from January 2023 to December 2024. A systematic random sampling technique was applied, consisting of 21 respondents in the case group and 42 respondents in the control group. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the chi-square statistical test. The univariate results showed that 74.6% had high knowledge, and 57.2% had more than four ANC visits. The bivariate analysis revealed a significant relationship between knowledge (p = 0.011; OR = 5.455) and the number of ANC visits (p = 0.015; OR = 4.462) with the decision to give birth at home. It can be concluded that there is a relationship between knowledge and the number of ANC visits with home birth decision-making. It is recommended for the Mapaddegat Public Health Center staff to strengthen health promotion regarding delivery in health facilities and develop innovations to increase the coverage of facility-based deliveries.

THE QUR'AN AND SOCIAL SOLIDARITY: ANALYSIS OF CONTEMPORARY APPLICATIONS IN INDONESIAN URBAN SOCIETY

Ariyadi, Samsul
Abstract: This study examines the concept of social solidarity and religious values, especially those contained in the Qur'an. Social solidarity has long been the focus of discussion in various disciplines, ranging from sociology,… political science, to Islamic studies. In the midst of the increasingly complex dynamics of urbanization in Indonesia, the question of how religious values, especially those contained in the Qur'an, can encourage collective action based on social justice is very relevant. By examining in depth the relationship between the teachings of the Qur'an and social solidarity, this article contributes to the development of social theory and practice in urban Indonesian society. It is hoped that the findings and recommendations presented can be a reference for academics, researchers, and policymakers in formulating strategies for integrating Islamic values into contemporary social dynamics, so that in the end it can produce a more just, inclusive, and dignified society. The results of the study show that there is a strong integration between the theological message in the Qur'an and the dynamics of social interaction, as well as its implications in the formation of pro-people public policy. Thus, the conceptual framework proposed in this study not only makes a theoretical contribution to the development of Islamic studies and sociology, but also offers practical recommendations that are applicable to the strengthening of social solidarity in the modern era. This study suggests that further studies can explore more empirical aspects, involving field data and participatory analysis, to ensure that the values of the Qur'an are truly integrated into social life and public policy as a whole. This research invites further dialogue between stakeholders in an effort to realize solid social solidarity, as a tangible manifestation of the application of the principles of goodness and justice enshrined in the Qur'an.
