FULL DAY SCHOOL VS. MODULAR EDUCATION SYSTEM: A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF INDONESIA AND THE UNITED KINGDOM

Ika Kurnia Sofiani, Mardiana, Nurlidia Putri, Fitri Barokah
Abstract: The transformation of Indonesia's education system faces significant challenges in aligning with the demands of globalization, digitalization, and lifelong learning. These challenges have sparked debates regarding the effectiveness… fectiveness of the full-day school model and the modular education system. This study aims to comparatively analyze these two approaches within the context of primary and secondary education in Indonesia, referencing modular education practices in the United Kingdom as an international benchmark. The study employs a qualitative approach based on a literature review, utilizing thematic content analysis of 20 accredited scholarly sources selected through strict inclusion criteria, and analyzed with the assistance of NVivo software to ensure thematic accuracy. The findings indicate that the full-day school model excels in fostering discipline and consistent learning structures; however, it poses risks of cognitive fatigue and is less supportive of differentiated instruction. In contrast, the modular system offers flexibility, opportunities for personalized learning, and deeper conceptual understanding, yet requires adequate digital infrastructure and self-directed learning literacy, which are not evenly distributed. The study concludes that no single educational model is universally superior; instead, each holds contextual relevance. This research contributes theoretically by enriching the comparative education literature and practically by informing the design of more adaptive, inclusive, and responsive learning policies to meet the challenges of the 21st century, while also supporting efforts to achieve quality education as outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Despite these efforts, challenges such as urbanization and land acquisition still hamper the effectiveness of flood management. Recommendations include improving infrastructure, sustainable spatial planning, and community education.

Riky Fernando, Muhammad Ibnu, Helvi Yanfika, Kordiyana K. Rangga, Indah Listiana
Abstract: This study analyzes the competing interests within the Kartu Petani Berjaya (KPB) policy as part of efforts to promote sustainable community-based agricultural development in Lampung Province. The KPB program was launched… d with the goal of improving farmers' welfare through digitally integrated agricultural services. However, initial observations indicate resistance from some farmers and signs of political interest dominance in both the formulation and implementation processes. The study aims to identify the political motives behind the policy, the sustainability of the program, farmers' literacy regarding the E-KPB system, and the extent to which the program empowers farmers and engages stakeholders. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with thematic analysis and source triangulation techniques, data were collected through in-depth interviews with academics and government officials, as well as document studies. The findings reveal that the dominance of regional leaders in decision-making has led to a program orientation that is more symbolic and electoral in nature. The dynamics of competing interests emerge both vertically and horizontally, resulting in weak coordination and reduced policy effectiveness. The transition from KPB to E-KPB has also shifted the program’s focus and reduced its tangible benefits for farmers. The study recommends strengthening multi-stakeholder collaborative governance in agricultural policy, reevaluating the structure of the E-KPB system, and actively involving academics and farmer associations. These findings contribute theoretically to the study of public policy and policy framing, and practically to improving the implementation of programs based on the real needs of farming communities.

PARADIGM AND RATIONALITY: CRITICAL REVIEW OF THE THOUGHTS OF THOMAS KUHN AND IBNU RUSYD

Lalu Ibnurusd Al Hafied
Abstract: This article critically examines the thoughts of Thomas Kuhn and Ibn Rushd in order to understand the epistemological structure and dynamics of science, by highlighting two fundamental concepts: paradigm and rationality.… Thomas Kuhn, through his theory of scientific revolutions , argued that the development of science does not occur linearly and cumulatively, but rather through paradigm leaps triggered by internal crises in the scientific community and resolved through collective consensus. On the other hand, Ibn Rushd, as a representative of rationalist philosophers in the classical Islamic thought treasury, places reason and logic as universal epistemic foundations in revealing scientific truth, and firmly rejects the dominance of theological authority that hinders freedom of thought. This study reveals that although both come from different traditions and historical contexts, there is a common ground in the critical attitude towards intellectual stagnation and the drive to open up space for renewal of thought. However, epistemologically, both show sharp divergences: Kuhn is based on contextual paradigmatic relativism, while Ibn Rushd is rooted in transhistorical rational objectivism. Using a comparative-philosophical approach, this article concludes that a critical synthesis of the two views can enrich contemporary discourse on the foundations and direction of the development of science.

In Indonesia, EV adoption faces challenges related to market dynamics, consumer… behavior, and effective communication strategies. Marketing research and understanding consumer behavior aims to collect and obtain more detailed information and knowledge about customers towards electric vehicle products. Through this, it can understand customers and their tastes, preferences, reflect the future, and also help reduce the risk of product and business failure. Using Word of Mouth communication as part of a marketing strategy that can be carried out by companies in maintaining their business desires. In this article, the author tries to understand the concept of market research, consumer behavior, and the Word-of-Mouth communication model using a qualitative library observation approach, this study analyzes existing research on how these three factors contribute to the growth and long-term survival of the electric vehicle market. Market research provides insight into consumer preferences and market trends, offering important data to align EV products with consumer needs. Understanding consumer behavior is essential in overcoming perceived barriers, such as cost and infrastructure limitations, that hinder EV adoption. Meanwhile, word of mouth communication plays an important role in influencing consumer decisions by fostering trust and awareness of the benefits of EVs. The findings highlight the interconnections between these factors and their collective impact on the development of sustainable marketing strategies for EVs in Indonesia. This study provides valuable insights for stakeholders, including automotive companies and policymakers, in designing more effective marketing approaches that support the sustainable growth of the EV sector.

CHILDREN’S EDUCATION AS PERPETUAL CHARITY: A THEMATIC STUDY OF THE PROPHET’S HADITH

Nur Mawaddah Islamiyah, Romlah Abu Bakar Askar, Abdul Ghofur
Abstract: The hadith of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) mentions three deeds that continue to benefit a person after death: ongoing charity (ṣadaqah jāriyah), beneficial knowledge, and a righteous child who prays for their parents.… parents. This hadith conveys a profound message about the importance of child education as a spiritual investment. This article aims to examine the urgency of children’s education from the perspective of this hadith by exploring the spiritual and social significance of having a righteous child as a continuous source of reward. This study employs a qualitative approach through library research, drawing on collections of hadith, classical Islamic literature (turas) such as the works of Imam al-Ghazali, Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, and Imam Nawawī, as well as contemporary references from nationally accredited journals. The findings indicate that educating children possesses a transcendental dimension, making it a form of ongoing charity for parents—especially when the child grows to be righteous and contributes positively to society. This research recommends that the concept of child education should not be viewed solely from a worldly perspective but should also be instilled as part of eschatological awareness within the Islamic education system.
