FULL DAY SCHOOL VS. MODULAR EDUCATION SYSTEM: A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF INDONESIA AND THE UNITED KINGDOM

Ika Kurnia Sofiani, Mardiana, Nurlidia Putri, Fitri Barokah
Abstract: The transformation of Indonesia's education system faces significant challenges in aligning with the demands of globalization, digitalization, and lifelong learning. These challenges have sparked debates regarding the effectiveness… fectiveness of the full-day school model and the modular education system. This study aims to comparatively analyze these two approaches within the context of primary and secondary education in Indonesia, referencing modular education practices in the United Kingdom as an international benchmark. The study employs a qualitative approach based on a literature review, utilizing thematic content analysis of 20 accredited scholarly sources selected through strict inclusion criteria, and analyzed with the assistance of NVivo software to ensure thematic accuracy. The findings indicate that the full-day school model excels in fostering discipline and consistent learning structures; however, it poses risks of cognitive fatigue and is less supportive of differentiated instruction. In contrast, the modular system offers flexibility, opportunities for personalized learning, and deeper conceptual understanding, yet requires adequate digital infrastructure and self-directed learning literacy, which are not evenly distributed. The study concludes that no single educational model is universally superior; instead, each holds contextual relevance. This research contributes theoretically by enriching the comparative education literature and practically by informing the design of more adaptive, inclusive, and responsive learning policies to meet the challenges of the 21st century, while also supporting efforts to achieve quality education as outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Hotimah, Oot, Adelia, Edies, Musoffa, Maulida, Debora, Shinta
Abstract: Flooding is a natural phenomenon that can cause disasters for humans, especially in Indonesia and the Philippines, which often experience significant impacts on the economy, transportation, and social life. This research… aims to analyze the factors that cause flooding in both countries, compare the management policies implemented, and provide recommendations for improved mitigation. The method used is a literature review to collect and analyze various scientific sources. The results show that in Indonesia, factors causing flooding include land subsidence, land use change, and climate change, while in the Philippines, flooding is often triggered by tropical storms and extreme rainfall. Indonesia's response strategy focuses on river normalization and drainage infrastructure, while the Philippines implements a National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan that covers prevention, preparedness, and rehabilitation. Despite these efforts, challenges such as urbanization and land acquisition still hamper the effectiveness of flood management. Recommendations include improving infrastructure, sustainable spatial planning, and community education.

Using Word of Mouth communication as part of a marketing strategy that can be carried out by companies in maintaining their business desires. In this article, the author tries to understand the concept of market research, consumer behavior, and the Word-of-Mouth communication model using a qualitative library observation approach, this study analyzes existing research on how these three factors contribute to the growth and long-term survival of the electric vehicle market. Market research provides insight into consumer preferences and market trends, offering important data to align EV products with consumer needs. Understanding consumer behavior is essential in overcoming perceived barriers, such as cost and infrastructure limitations, that hinder EV adoption. Meanwhile, word of mouth communication plays an important role in influencing consumer decisions by fostering trust and awareness of the benefits of EVs. The findings highlight the interconnections between these factors and their collective impact on the development of sustainable marketing strategies for EVs in Indonesia. This study provides valuable insights for stakeholders, including automotive companies and policymakers, in designing more effective marketing approaches that support the sustainable growth of the EV sector.

Sjamsir, Zulkifli, Besse Dahliana, Suhartina R
Abstract: This study examines food security, food self-sufficiency, and self-sufficiency in South Sulawesi in 2024, focusing on the province's main food commodities, distribution issues, and the impact of government policies. The… research analyzes the gap between food production and demand, identifying key commodities such as rice, corn, and soybeans. By evaluating the availability, accessibility, and affordability of these staple foods, the study investigates how local agricultural practices, infrastructure, and external factors like climate change and market volatility affect food security in the region. The findings reveal significant challenges in meeting the demand for rice and soybeans, despite the province's ability to achieve a surplus in corn production. The methodology employed in this study involves both qualitative and quantitative approaches. Primary data was gathered through field surveys, interviews with local farmers, agricultural experts, and policymakers, as well as secondary data from government reports, agricultural statistics, and market analyses. A comparative analysis was conducted to examine trends in food production, consumption patterns, and price fluctuations over the past five years. The study also incorporated geographic information system (GIS) mapping to assess the distribution of agricultural resources and the effectiveness of existing infrastructure in connecting farmers to markets. The findings suggest that despite the province's agricultural potential, South Sulawesi continues to face challenges in achieving full food self-sufficiency. The study recommends a multifaceted approach to addressing food insecurity and achieving food self-sufficiency, including improving rural infrastructure, adopting modern agricultural technologies, and diversifying food crops.
