STUDY OF ICONOGRAPHY AND ISLAMIC CULTURAL EXPRESSION AT THE GRAVE OF MARHUM PEKAN IN PEKANBARU

Prawito, Edi
Abstract: This study examines the visual symbols and cultural values contained in the Marhum Pekan Tomb, one of the historical sites inherited from the Siak Sri Indrapura Sultanate which is the cultural identity of Pekanbaru City.… City. The purpose of this study is to reveal the meaning, philosophical values, and forms of acculturation of Islamic culture with local Malay traditions represented through the physical form and ornamentation of the tomb. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with Erwin Panofsky's iconographic approach which includes three stages of analysis, namely pre-iconography, iconography, and iconology. Data sources were obtained through field observations, in-depth interviews, as well as literature and documentation reviews. The results of the study show that visually (pre-iconography), the Marhum Pekan Tomb displays the architectural characteristics of the Selaso Jatuh Kembar House, the use of Malay regalia, stepped jirat forms, and headstones with gender-differentiating shapes, all of which are a blend of local and Islamic culture. Based on the iconographic analysis, all ornaments in the form of plant and flower motifs contain symbolic meanings of purity, fragrant names, good deeds, and obedience to Islamic teachings that prohibit the depiction of living creatures. Meanwhile, iconological analysis reveals the fundamental meaning that this tomb complex is a tangible manifestation of the Malay people's philosophy of life, namely "Adat bersendi Syarak, Syarak bersendi Kitabbullah". The tomb of Marhum Pekan is not merely a burial place, but also evidence of the history of Islamic-Malay civilization and the collective memory of the community, which confirms that the development of Pekanbaru City grew and developed on a foundation of religious values and harmonious local cultural wisdom.

Abstract: The changing characteristics of children’s learning in the digital era have created a need for learning environments that are more interactive, visual, and experience-based. Conventional learning is increasingly considered… ered less effective in maintaining children’s engagement due to limited opportunities for exploration and direct interaction during the learning process. In response to this condition, the concept of edutechment has emerged as an approach that integrates educational and entertainment elements to create more enjoyable and meaningful learning experiences. This study aims to analyze the implementation of edutechment at Taman Pintar Yogyakarta as a nonformal educational tourism space. The data were analyzed descriptively through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings revealed that Taman Pintar Yogyakarta has implemented the concept of edutechment through the integration of technology, multimedia, simulations, and educational play activities within various interactive attractions. Children were actively involved in exploration, experimentation, and direct interaction with learning media, creating more concrete and enjoyable learning experiences. However, the study also found that some children tended to focus more on entertainment aspects than on understanding educational concepts. CIVIL-MILITARY CORRIDOR RESILIENCE MODEL FOR INFRASTRUCTURE MANAGEMENT IN INDONESIA’S OUTERMOST BORDER ISLAND: EVIDENCE FROM MIANGAS ISLAND

G, Brantas Suharyo, Noonphakdee, Thamrongchai, Suksiengsri, Phongpincharn
Abstract: Infrastructure management in outermost border islands is not only a matter of physical development, but also a strategic issue related to sovereignty, community welfare, connectivity and national defence. This article examines… amines infrastructure management on Miangas Island, one of Indonesia’s northernmost outer islands bordering the Philippines. Although Miangas already has several basic and strategic infrastructures, including roads, an airport, a port, electricity facilities, clean water sources, telecommunications, health facilities and security infrastructure, these assets have not yet functioned as an integrated and reliable system. The main problem is therefore not the absence of infrastructure, but the gap between physical availability and functional performance. This study uses a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach based on field observation, semi-structured interviews and document review. Data were analysed using the Miles and Huberman model, supported by STEEP+M and SWOT analysis. The findings show that infrastructure management in Miangas is influenced by three main indicators: infrastructure availability and quality, connectivity and accessibility, and infrastructure sustainability. Internally, Miangas has strengths in its strategic geography, existing infrastructure assets, state institutional presence, social cohesion and strong national identity. However, these strengths are constrained by weak service quality, limited maintenance, unstable connectivity, a fragile local economy and inadequate maritime surveillance. Externally, Miangas benefits from national legal support, strategic policy status and Indonesia–Philippines cooperation, but faces threats from cross-border dependence, illegal fishing, border violations, environmental pressure and geopolitical sensitivity. The SWOT analysis places Miangas in the WO quadrant, meaning that external opportunities should first be used to overcome internal weaknesses. This article proposes the Civil-Military Corridor Resilience Model as an integrated framework that connects public services, logistics, energy, local markets, maritime security and territorial defence in one border resilience system.

ACCOUNTABILITY OF CIVIL CIVIL APPARATUS PERFORMANCE IN THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND CULTURE OF WEST KALIMANTAN PROVINCE

Andriani, Nining
Abstract: The problem in this research includes the still low level of ASN compliance in compiling and reporting Employee Performance Targets. The purpose of this study is to describe and analyze the performance measurement of civil… il servants at the Education and Culture Office of West Kalimantan Province, seen from the aspects of: Accountability, Responsibility, and Responsiveness. The results of the study indicate that Accountability, Responsibility, and Responsiveness are key elements in reflecting the quality of civil servant performance at the Education and Culture Office of West Kalimantan Province. However, in its implementation, these three aspects have not been running optimally. ASN accountability is still hampered by a lack of discipline in reporting and minimal transparency of work results. Responsibility is also not fully reflected in ASN's commitment to carrying out duties and responsibilities professionally. On the other hand, responsiveness to community needs, especially in the fields of education and culture, is still relatively slow, which indicates a lack of active involvement of ASN in absorbing and responding to public aspirations quickly and appropriately. This research recommends strategic steps to strengthen accountability through a more structured and regularly monitored performance reporting system. Improving accountability can be achieved through ongoing development, professional ethics training, and consistent enforcement of work discipline. To enhance responsiveness, a more participatory and adaptive public service mechanism needs to be developed to meet community needs.
