Presbiterial Sinodal: Sebuah Kajian Manajemen Gereja terhadap Sistem Bergereja GPI Papua

Cristophel van Harling
Abstract: This study examines the effectiveness of the Presbyterian-Synodal system of church governance in shaping an inclusive, participatory, and contextual ministry within the Indonesian Protestant Church in Papua (GPI Papua).… Employing a qualitative approach and contextual case study, the research focuses on the relationship between church governance structures and Papuan communal culture, which emphasizes deliberation, egalitarianism, and communal living. The findings indicate that, in principle, the Presbyterian-Synodal system possesses the potential to accommodate the collective character of Papuan society and to support congregational participation in ecclesiastical decision-making processes. However, implementation at the local level faces several challenges, including inconsistent understanding of ecclesiastical roles and responsibilities, limited human resource capacity, and misalignment between synodal policies and the contextual needs of congregations. These issues reveal a gap between the theological-structural design of the system and the pastoral realities on the ground. Therefore, this study recommends institutional renewal based on local contexts, the development of transformative church leadership models, and the strengthening of ecclesiological education rooted in Papuan cultural and social dynamics. Theoretically and practically, this research contributes to the development of contextual ecclesiology and church management in multicultural settings, emphasizing the importance of synthesizing Reformed theology with local values. As such, this study not only offers a constructive critique of current church governance practices but also opens space for reflection and innovation, enabling the church to become more relevant, just, and empowering in addressing contemporary challenges and contextual realities.

I Wayan Adi Putra Ariawan, Daniel Pandu Mau, Anak Agung Ngurah Sedana Putra, Rizal Kurniansah
Abstract: Daiama Tourism Village in Rote Ndao Regency possesses significant natural and cultural tourism potential; however, its tourism promotion remains suboptimal, resulting in fluctuating tourist visitation rates. This study aims… ims to analyze promotional activities, identify factors influencing promotional effectiveness, and formulate promotional strategies to increase tourist visits. The research employed a qualitative descriptive method through observation, interviews, literature review, and documentation, supported by interactive data analysis and triangulation techniques. The findings reveal that promotional efforts still rely primarily on annual festivals and direct interpersonal communication without systematic support from planned digital media. This condition has contributed to fluctuations in tourist arrivals, increasing from 587 visitors in 2022 to 711 visitors in 2023, before declining to 503 visitors in 2024 and 468 visitors in 2025. Constraining factors include limited human resources, weak digital media management, and the underdeveloped institutional capacity of the Tourism Awareness Group (Pokdarwis). The study concludes that promotional strategies should be directed toward digital marketing, strengthening cultural identity and local storytelling, as well as enhancing community and institutional capacity. The novelty of this study lies in the development of a sustainable promotional model that integrates digital marketing, cultural storytelling, community participation, and the strengthening of Pokdarwis institutions in accordance with the characteristics of Daiama Tourism Village as a nature- and culture-based tourism destination.

Abstract: Cultural-based tourism has become an important strategy for enhancing community welfare while preserving local cultural heritage. Desa Tua in Buleleng Regency, Bali, possesses significant potential through the bamboo weaving… ving tradition of the Bali Aga community, which holds substantial economic and cultural value. This study aims to analyze community empowerment through the development of tourism based on cultural weaving products, strengthen the bargaining position of local artisans, and examine efforts to maintain a balance between economic benefits and cultural preservation. The study employed a mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design and involved 150 respondents. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and surveys. The findings reveal that experiential tourism increased average household income by 35% and enhanced women's participation by 42% through their involvement in production activities, training programs, tour guiding, and the management of creative enterprises. Traditional weaving products were successfully developed as the primary tourism attraction, generating greater economic value while preserving cultural integrity through the clear distinction between sacred and commercial products. The utilization of digital media further expanded market access and strengthened product competitiveness. The novelty of this study lies in the development of an integrative model that connects community empowerment, experiential tourism, cultural preservation, women’s empowerment, and digital cultural entrepreneurship as a sustainable strategy for cultural tourism development.

Siri’ Killing dalam Masyarakat Bugis-Makassar: Konstruksi, Pola Pembunuhan, dan Respons Hukum Pidana

Zul Khaidir Kadir
Abstract: This study examines the phenomenon of siri’ killing in the Bugis-Makassar community, which has received limited attention in global discussions on honor-based killings. The background of this research is rooted in the strong… strong value of siri’ as a system of collective honor that not only regulates social behavior but also has the potential to generate violence as a means of restoring dignity. The research problem focuses on how the construction of siri’ shapes collective honor, how patterns of honor-motivated killings occur, and how Indonesian criminal law responds to this phenomenon without legitimizing violence. This study employs a normative legal method with statutory, case, and conceptual approaches to analyze the relationship between legal norms and cultural values. The findings indicate that siri’ is understood as a collective family identity that significantly influences individual behavior, with women becoming the most vulnerable group due to the unequal distribution of moral burden. Patterns of siri’ killing are generally associated with control over sexuality and marriage and are driven by social pressure and collective moral legitimacy. The response of criminal law tends to be ambivalent, as cultural motives are not justified but are often considered as background factors. The conclusion emphasizes that siri’ killing is a complex phenomenon that cannot be understood merely as a criminal act, but rather as the result of interactions among culture, gender, and law. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of cultural, criminal law, and gender perspectives in explaining siri’ killing as a localized form of honor killing with distinctive characteristics in Indonesia.

Yulian Purnama, I Wayan Artika
Abstract: This study is grounded in the importance of recognizing local wisdom-based educational practices that continue to exist amid the forces of modernization and globalization. The research problem focuses on how ethnopedagogical… ical practices are implemented by the stone carving community in Muntilan, Magelang Regency, as an alternative educational model capable of transmitting knowledge across generations in a sustainable manner. The study employs a qualitative approach using a case study method to explore community-based learning processes through family apprenticeship, direct observation, and practical experience that integrates technical skills, aesthetic sensitivity, spiritual values, and Javanese philosophy. The findings reveal a distinctive learning ecology that emphasizes the internalization of tacit knowledge, character formation, and the close relationship between learning processes and socio-cultural life. The community also demonstrates adaptive resilience through its ability to adopt innovation without abandoning core cultural principles. The conclusion confirms that ethnopedagogical practices among the Muntilan stone carvers represent an effective and relevant contextual education model to support the preservation of intangible cultural heritage while addressing the challenges of modern education. The novelty of this study lies in the integration of ethnopedagogy with traditional craft practices as a holistic and sustainable non-formal education system, as well as its contribution to the discourse on decolonizing education and strengthening culturally based vocational education policies.

Abstract: The decline in sleep quality among preschool children has become a significant concern due to its impact on physical health and cognitive development, one of which is influenced by excessive smartphone use. This study addresses… dresses the research problem of whether there is a relationship between smartphone addiction and sleep quality in preschool children. The aim of this study is to analyze this relationship among children at PAUD Anggrek, Tamansari Village, Bondowoso Regency, in 2025. The research employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, involving the entire population of 30 parents as the sample using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed using the chi-square test at a 5% significance level. The results revealed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and a calculated chi-square value of 22.502, which is greater than the chi-square table value of 3.481, indicating a significant relationship between smartphone addiction and sleep quality in preschool children. The findings conclude that higher levels of smartphone addiction are associated with poorer sleep quality in children. The novelty of this study lies in its focus on preschool children within early childhood education settings using a behavioral approach to technology use, which remains relatively underexplored in the local context. These findings provide important implications for parents and educators to regulate smartphone use in order to support optimal sleep quality in children.

Korelasi Durasi Pemberian ASI terhadap Klasifikasi Derajat Stunting pada Balita

Astrid Wiba Susanti, Iis Hanifah, Suhartin
Abstract: Stunting is a chronic nutritional problem that remains a serious challenge to child health because it is associated with impaired physical growth, cognitive development, and the quality of human resources in the future.… This condition is influenced by inadequate nutritional intake, particularly during the first 1,000 days of life, which plays a critical role in determining the quality of child growth. Exclusive breastfeeding is considered an important factor that contributes to meeting nutritional needs and strengthening the immune system of children. The research problem focuses on the relationship between breastfeeding practices and the degree of stunting among children aged 1-5 years in the working area of Sempol Community Health Center, Bondowoso Regency, in 2025. The study employed a quantitative approach using an analytic survey design with a population consisting of all stunted toddlers in the area. A sample of 75 respondents was selected using a proportionate stratified random sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and observation sheets that assessed breastfeeding practices and the level of stunting based on the height-for-age (HFA) indicator. The results show that 72% of children received exclusive breastfeeding, while the remainder received partial breastfeeding or were not exclusively breastfed. The distribution of stunting severity indicates that 57.3% of children experienced mild stunting, 34.7% moderate stunting, and 8% severe stunting. The Chi-Square statistical test produced a p-value of 0.003 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between breastfeeding practices and the degree of stunting. These findings demonstrate that the nutritional quality and antibodies contained in breast milk play an important role in supporting optimal child height growth. The novelty of this study lies in its analysis of the relationship between breastfeeding practices and the severity of stunting within the specific context of a local community health center area that has rarely been examined in detail. The findings emphasize the importance of health education for mothers and strong family support to strengthen exclusive breastfeeding practices as a strategic effort to prevent stunting.
