ECOLOGICAL EDUCATION IN THE PROPHET’S HADITHS: A THEMATIC STUDY ON HADITHS RELATED TO THE ENVIRONMENT

Awan, Edy Kurniawan, Askar , Romlah Abubakar, Ghofur , Abdul
Abstract: Environmental awareness among humans regarding the importance of preserving nature—bestowed by Allah as a means to sustain life—is gradually declining. Irresponsible human actions frequently lead to environmental damage… age and ecological imbalance. If left unaddressed, such behavior poses serious threats to the continuity of life. This study aims to explore the Prophet Muhammad’s hadiths that emphasize the importance of environmental preservation. Employing a qualitative method with a literature review approach, this research analyzes relevant hadiths and scholarly interpretations. The findings reveal that the Prophet’s teachings on ecological preservation are comprehensive and highly relevant to contemporary environmental challenges. Most environmental degradation is a direct result of human actions, and the prophetic hadiths offer foundational solutions—framing what can be understood as an early model of ecological education in Islam. Keywords : Ecological education, hadith, environment

THE QURAN AND EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES FOR INTER-RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE

Muhammad Rizkon, Muhammad Azizan Fitriana, Samsul Ariyadi
Abstract: Diversity is an inevitability that cannot be avoided. It is a sunnatullah that should be done without consent. When diversity is combined with various assumptions of truth, an intolerant attitude arises. This problem is… caused by a misunderstanding of the message of religious tolerance, which causes its adherents to appear with different faces. Therefore, the Qur'an explains what tolerance really is in Islamic teachings. Based on this problem, the researcher is interested in conducting a comparative analysis of how the interpretations of Hamka and Ali As-Ṣabūnī are related to religious tolerance, as well as the strengthening of the socio-historical background of both of them towards this interpretation. This study uses a qualitative approach with a comparative study method. Data collection consists of literature studies and observations. Descriptive analysis is used in the comparative analysis method. Lucien Goldmann's genetic structuralism theory is one of the theories used to strengthen research as a surgical tool. This theory explains that a work or text is the work of its own author, along with the historical reality that conditions the emergence of the work or text. To improve the analysis of this research, discussions of scholars and interpreters of the verses of the Qur'an related to religious tolerance are also used. Research shows that Hamka and Ali As-Ṣabūnī generally agree that coercion in embracing religion is not allowed. However, Hamka directs the meaning of religious tolerance with the applicable conditions and limitations. This study also refers to the theory of genetic structure which states that the tendency of general and specific interpretations of poems on religious tolerance cannot be separated from the socio-historical context of each community in which the two figures lived. This assumption is that the works of the two figures are not only personal works, but also the works of their respective communities and the social and historical realities of their respective times.

THE QUR'AN IN RITES: HISTORICAL ANALYSIS AND ACCULTURATION OF JAVANESE CULTURE

Samsul Ariyadi
Abstract: This article examines the transformation of the meaning of the Quran in the context of death rites and death commemorations in Javanese society, especially in Central Java and Yogyakarta, during the period 2000–2023. This… his research approach is qualitative by utilizing ethnographic data, archival studies, ritual documentation, and in-depth interviews with ritual practitioners. The use of the Quran, which was originally a sacred Islamic text with normative content, has undergone a transformation of meaning when adapted into traditional Javanese rites. The process of cultural acculturation that occurred illustrates the dynamics between ancestral traditions and Islamic values, which provide space for the reinterpretation of religious symbols by local communities (Anderson, 2003; Suryadi, 2011). The historical analysis method and the theory of cultural transformation proposed by Clifford Geertz are used to explain the evolution of the use of the sacred text and highlight the role of ritual as a medium for negotiating meaning between cultures. The results of the study show that the insertion of Quranic verses into Javanese mantras not only functions as a sacred element, but also as a tool for social legitimacy and cultural identity of the Javanese people. This finding opens up opportunities for further study on the integrative role of ritual in shaping religious and cultural identity in Indonesia.

RECONSTRUCTION OF MAWARIS LAW IN A MODERN CONTEXT: THE PERSPECTIVE OF GENDER EQUALITY IN ISLAMIC LAW

Hermawan, Nanang
Abstract: This research aims to explore the reconstruction of mawaris law in Islam in the modern context, especially by considering the principle of gender equality without abandoning sharia values. The research method used is qualitative,… litative, with textual analysis of mawaris verses in the Qur'an, Hadith, and the study of the theory of maqaṣid shari'ah. Case studies in several Muslim countries were also conducted to assess the implementation of modified mawaris laws within the national legal framework. The results of the study show that mawaris law, although textual in the Qur'an, provides space for reinterpretation through the maqaṣid shari'ah approach. This approach emphasizes aspects of justice, benefit, and equality that are in line with Islamic values. The study also found that the reconstruction of mawaris law can support the strengthening of women's position in the family and society without eliminating the principle of justice that is the core of sharia. This study concludes that mawaris law can be adapted to the modern context through reinterpretation based on maqaṣid shari'ah. Thus, this reconstruction not only answers the challenges of the modern era but also maintains the relevance of Islamic law as a universal guideline.
