RELIGIOUS MODERATION IN DIGITAL MEDIA-BASED LEARNING MODELS

Abstract: This study aims to develop and examine the effectiveness of religious moderation in digital media based on the Dick and Carey learning model. The research is grounded in the increasing use of digital media as a primary source… ource of religious information, which has the potential both to strengthen and to undermine the values of religious moderation. The study employed a qualitative approach with a Research and Development (R&D) design. The subjects were university students who actively use digital media. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, questionnaires, and documentation, while data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model. The results indicate that students’ understanding of religious moderation remains largely normative and is not yet accompanied by adequate digital literacy skills. The development of the Dick and Carey-based learning model produced interactive digital media, including educational videos, digital modules, and social media content. Implementation of the model demonstrated a significant improvement in students’ comprehension, tolerance, and critical thinking regarding religious content in digital media. Furthermore, the study found that integrating constructivist approaches, social learning, and digital literacy into the learning design effectively reinforced the internalization of religious moderation values. The developed learning model proved effective in enhancing student engagement and fostering inclusive and tolerant attitudes.In conclusion, promoting religious moderation in digital media requires a systematic, technology-based learning approach. This study provides both theoretical and practical contributions to the development of a learning model for religious moderation in the digital era.

IMPLEMENTATION OF GUIDED INQUIRY INTERACTIVE REINFORCEMENT TO IMPROVE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS’ SCIENTIFIC LITERACY

Abstract: The low level of students’ scientific literacy indicates the need for learning approaches that can train scientific thinking process through inquiry activities. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of Guided Inquiry&#8230; quiry Interactive Reinforcement learning with Guided Inquiry learning without Interactive Reinforcement on the topic of global warming in improving junior high school students’ scientific literacy. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design conducted at a public junior high school in Sidoarjo Regency. This research subjects were students of class IX F as the experimental class and class IX B as the control class. Data were collected through scientific literacy test instrument, learning implementation observation sheets, and student response questionnaires. The test data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U test, effect size calculation, and N-Gain, while the data from the observation of learning implementation and student response questionnaires were analyzed descriptively using quantitative methods. The results showed that there was a significant difference in scientific literacy between the experimental class and the control class with an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of <0,001. The effect size calculation obtained a value of , categorized as a large effect, indicating a very strong influence. The improvement in scientific literacy in the experimental class was higher with an average N-Gain of 0,927 (high category) compared to the control class with 0,783 (high category). The level of scientific literacy also increased from level 2 in the pretest to level 6 in the experimental class and level 5 in the control class in the posttest. These results were supported by the implementation of learning in both classes, which was categorized as very good, and student responses that showed very good criteria with a higher percentage in the experimental class. Based on these findings, the Guided Inquiry Interactive Reinforcement learning model is proven to be more effective in improving junior high school students’ scientific literacy. This learning model is recommended to be applied to science topics that have contextual characteristics in order to enhance students’ scientific literacy.

IMPLEMENTATION OF PROBLEM-BASED LEARNING METHODS IN ISLAMIC EDUCATION TO STRENGTHEN STUDENTS' CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS AT THE SIMALUNGUN STATE ISLAMIC SCHOOL

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method in Islamic Religious Education and its contribution to strengthening students' critical thinking skills at MA Negeri Simalungun. This&#8230; is study uses a qualitative approach with a descriptive design. Data were obtained through classroom observation, interviews with teachers and students, and documentation of learning tools and evaluation results. Data analysis was conducted interactively through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with data validity maintained through source and technique triangulation. The results showed that the application of PBL in Islamic Religious Education learning can be carried out systematically through the stages of problem orientation, group discussion, investigation, presentation of results, and reflection. The implementation of PBL encourages active student involvement in the learning process and has a positive impact on strengthening critical thinking skills, as evidenced by an increase in students' ability to identify problems, analyze information, evaluate arguments, and draw logical and contextual conclusions based on Islamic values. This study concludes that the Problem-Based Learning method is an effective learning approach to improve the quality of Islamic Religious Education learning and develop students' critical thinking skills in Madrasah Aliyah. Therefore, PBL is recommended as an alternative PAI learning strategy that is relevant to the demands of 21st-century education.

INTERNALIZATION OF METAPHYSICAL VALUES IN ISLAMIC RELIGIOUS EDUCATION IN THE MODERN ERA

Abstract: Islamic Religious Education (IRE) in the modern era is often trapped in an approach that is overly textual, dogmatic, and focused solely on legal aspects (fiqh) and rituals. This results in the marginalisation of the metaphysical&#8230; aphysical dimensions of Islam—such as the concept of divinity (uluhiyah), the nature of humanity, the unseen world, the purpose of creation, and the spiritual relationship with Allah—which are in fact the foundation of the meaning and intrinsic motivation of all religious teachings. Without the internalisation of these metaphysical values, religious education risks becoming formalistic and unable to respond to existential challenges and spiritual crises amid the onslaught of materialism and secularisation in the modern world. This article aims to analyse the urgency and strategies for internalising metaphysical values within the framework of contemporary Islamic Religious Education, as well as to formulate an approach model relevant to the modern era. This study uses a qualitative method with a philosophical-analytical library research approach. Data were collected from primary sources such as the Qur'an, Hadith, and the works of classical and contemporary Islamic thinkers on education and metaphysics. The analysis was conducted hermeneutically and deductively to develop a conceptual framework. The analysis shows that the internalisation of metaphysical values in PAI is crucial for: (1) building a holistic Islamic worldview, (2) developing a deep spiritual awareness (ihsan), (3) providing a solid moral foundation that transcends positive law, and (4) creating mental-spiritual resilience in facing modern complexities. To achieve this, it is necessary to reorient the PAI curriculum to integrate metaphysical elements through an interdisciplinary approach (linking it to science, psychology, and philosophy), reflective and contemplative learning methods (such as tadabbur and tafakkur), and the use of digital technology as a medium for creative spiritual exploration.

HOLISTIC LIFE SPIRITUALITY INSPIRATION FROM HENRICUS LEVEN

Abstract: Holistic spirituality is an approach to life that integrates the physical, mental, social, and religious dimensions. In the context of the rapid development of modern society, the concept of holistic spirituality is increasingly&#8230; easingly relevant as a response to the crisis of meaning, stress, and human alienation. This article examines Hendrikus Leven's ideas on holistic spirituality, which emphasize self-balance, harmonious relationships with others, and a deep connection with God and the universe. Through a descriptive-analytical approach, this discussion illustrates the contribution of Leven's thinking to enriching the understanding of modern spirituality, including its relevance to personal life, education, pastoral care, and character development. This study concludes that Hendrikus Leven's holistic spirituality can become a paradigm for life renewal that touches all aspects of human existence and offers a path to building a more meaningful, balanced, and sustainable life.

DEVELOPMENT OF ANDROID-BASED MATHEMATICS LEARNING MEDIA TO IMPROVE CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS OF HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN WEST SULAWESI

Abstract: This study aims to develop an Android-based mathematics learning media using Smart Apps Creator (SAC) and determine its validity, practicality, and effectiveness in improving critical thinking skills of high school students&#8230; nts in West Sulawesi. This research is a research and development (R&D) with a modified Borg and Gall model and is limited to the product revision stage after the trial. The resulting product is an Android-based Mathematics E-Module that contains interactive materials, learning videos, problem-solving-based practice questions, learning games, and evaluations. The data collection technique used expert validation questionnaires, teacher and student response questionnaires, and critical thinking ability tests. Data were analyzed using a Likert scale, validation tests, practicality tests, and effectiveness tests through a comparison of pretest and posttest results and N-Gain calculations. The results showed that the developed learning media was in the very feasible category based on the assessment of material experts and media experts with a feasibility percentage above 85%. The practicality test showed that teacher and student responses were in the practical to very practical category. The effectiveness test showed an increase in students' critical thinking abilities in the moderate to high category, and there was a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores. Thus, Android-based mathematics learning media using Smart Apps Creator is effective for improving the critical thinking abilities of high school students in West Sulawesi.

EVALUATION OF STUDENTS CONCEPTUAL UNDERSTANDING IN THE COURSE MULTIPLE VARIABLE CALCULUS

Abstract: Calculus of Multiple Variables is a core course in the Mathematics Education study program and plays a crucial role in developing students advanced mathematical thinking skills. Success in this course relies heavily on mastery&#8230; astery of the prerequisite material, particularly the concepts of derivatives and integrals of functions of one variable. Therefore, understanding mathematical concepts is a fundamental aspect that determines students’ ability to understand the interrelationships between topics and solve problems systematically and logically. This study aims to describe students' conceptual understanding of multivariable calculus. The approach used is a descriptive approach with a purposive sampling technique, namely selecting research subjects based on certain criteria in the form of the highest and lowest levels of mathematical concept understanding. The results of the study indicate that students conceptual understanding varies across different materials. In the partial derivative material, students were not yet fully able to accurately represent the solution concept, especially in applying the rules for derivatives of exponential functions, so the results obtained did not conform to mathematical principles. These errors are conceptual in nature and indicate a weak grasp of certain basic concepts. However, in the material on derivatives of products of two functions and triple integrals, students demonstrated goog conceptual understanding. They were able to select, use, and apply solution procedures appropriately and systematically. This finding indicates that despite weaknesses in certain concepts, students still possess quite good procedural and conceptual abilities in the context of other problems in polynomial calculus.

AN ANALYSIS OF FIRST YEAR STUDENTS’ ERRORS IN SOLVING MATHEMATICAL LOGIC PROBLEMS BASED ON NEWMAN’S PROCEDURE IN THE INFORMATION SYSTEMS PROGRAM

Abstract: The identification of error types based on Newman’s Procedure includes reading, comprehension, transformation, process skills, and answer encoding. The objective of this study is to describe the analysis of students’ errors&#8230; errors in solving mathematical logic problems based on Newman’s Procedure. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach involving first year students enrolled in the mathematical logic course within the Information Systems program. Data were collected through a diagnostic test administered to three students representing different levels of academic ability: one low ability student, one moderate ability student, and one high ability student. Students’ ability levels were measured based on tests covering compound propositional logic and logical operations. Data analysis was conducted by classifying errors at each stage of Newman’s Procedure, tracing the underlying factors contributing to these errors, and relating them to students’ logical reasoning abilities. Accordingly, the research method employed in this study is descriptive qualitative research. The resulting error classifications were subsequently used by lecturers as a basis for recommending improvements in instructional strategies. The results indicate that students with low ability made errors across all stages from K1 to K5, students with moderate ability tended to make errors at the case exploration and process skills stages, while students with high ability were able to complete all stages systematically and consistently. These findings confirm that the Newman Procedure is effective in mapping students’ thinking errors. Therefore, the implementation of differentiated learning strategies that emphasize problem comprehension, case exploration, and logical verification is recommended to enhance students’ reasoning abilities

REORIENTATION OF MUNAKAHAT FIQH LEARNING FROM A NORMATIVE-LEGALISTIC APPROACH TO MAQASHID SYARIAH-BASED REASONING AT AL ANSOR ISLAMIC BOARDING SCHOOL, PADANGSIDIMPUAN

Abstract: The teaching of fiqh munakahat in Islamic boarding schools is generally still dominated by a normative-legalistic approach, which emphasizes the determination of legal status, such as halal–haram or valid–invalid, based&#8230; sed on texts and the authority of classical books. This approach is important in preserving the scholarly tradition of fiqh, but in practice it often does not encourage students to understand the legal objectives and social implications of fiqh provisions. This study aims to analyze how the maqāṣid syariah reasoning approach can be applied in the teaching of fiqh munakahat and how this approach influences the students' way of thinking. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design conducted at the Al-Ansor Islamic Boarding School in Padangsidimpuan. Data were collected through observation of the learning process in the classroom, discussions with students, and reflections from teachers during the field study. The results of the study show a shift in the students' way of thinking from a textual understanding of the law to a more reflective understanding, taking into account the social context and objectives of sharia. This research contributes by offering a more contextual, reflective, and relevant model of fiqh munakahat learning for the challenges of contemporary Muslim family life.

SMART THEACING WITH AI IN LEARNING DEVELOPMENT

Abstract: The rapid digital transformation in education has redefined the role of teachers, necessitating the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance pedagogical efficiency. This study aims to analyze the needs of primary&#8230; rimary school teachers regarding AI, describe the implementation of AI-assisted smart teaching training, and evaluate its impact on teachers' professional competence and the quality of produced instructional tools. Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach with a field study design, the research was conducted at UPTD SD Negeri 33 Bangai. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis of teaching modules and worksheets. The subjects were selected via purposive sampling, and data were analyzed using the interactive model of reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that AI-assisted smart teaching training effectively shifts teachers from passive technology users to active pedagogical designers. Findings reveal a paradigm shift where teachers perceive AI as "augmenting intelligence" that strengthens rather than replaces their professional role. The instructional tools produced post-training showed significant improvements in systematic alignment and the integration of Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). Grounded in adult learning and experiential learning theories, this practice-based model fosters greater learning autonomy and reflective practice. This study contributes empirical evidence for the primary education context, suggesting that human-centered and pedagogically-driven AI integration is a vital strategy for teacher professional development in the digital era.
