CODE-SWITCHING BETWEEN INDONESIAN AND ENGLISH ON A TELEVISION TALK SHOW

Rizaldy, M. Asmi, Hadist, Muhamad Khoerul
Abstract: This study looked into Sarah Sechan's use of Indonesian-English code-switching on the private-run Net TV talk show host. The study looked at the different kinds of code-switching, its purposes, and the social encouragement… nt provided by code-switching that took place during the conversation. After obtaining the data from the downloaded videos, the theories of Poplack (1980), Gumperz (1982), and Myers-Scotton (1998) were used to analyze the data. The discoveries uncovered that the three sorts of code-switching, the intra-sentential code-switching, the between sentential code-switching and the extra-sentential code-switching existed. The intra-sentential code-switching, which is thought to be the more complex of the three, was used the most frequently in verbal communication. Quote marking, addressee specification, interjections, reiteration, message qualification, personalization versus objectivization, topic switch, affective function, expressive, phatic, metalinguist, and directive were also identified as twelve functions of code-switching. Predominant was the reiteration function. In the meantime, the social triggers of code-switching were identified as the sequence unmarked choice maxim and the deference choice maxim.

Prototipe Sistem Pendeteksi Kebocoran Air Dan Pengeluaran Air Secara Otomatis Pada Kapal Berbasisi Arduino Uno

Syahputra, Aris, Ramadhani, Andrew, Parini, Parini
Abstract: Abstract: Disposal of water in traditional boats is currently still done manually with human intervention, in contrast to commercial ships that already have a ballast system. This will certainly be a problem for boat users… rs who can interfere with their sailing. Therefore, in this study, a design for an automatic water pump on an Arduino Uno-based boat will be made, which functions as a tool to remove puddles in the hull of the boat due to leakage. This tool is able to discharge water on the boat automatically when the water level entering the hull of the boat has exceeded the maximum height limit until the water level is within the tolerance limit which is considered safe and does not interfere with sailing. This tool works automatically using the WLC sensor (water level control) as a tool to monitor the water level, and the Arduino Uno system as a component to run the program by switching the pump. This tool can minimize the occurrence of shipwreck accidents due to boat hull leaks and human error. This system is still applied in the form of a prototype.             Keywords: Arduino Uno; water level control; boat.

Ahmad Ahsanul Khuluq, Nisa Ulfi Jannah, Annafik Fuad Hilmi, Djoko Susanto

Multilingual Communication Practices As A Representation Of The Social Identity Of Central Java-West Java Border Communities

Diah Nadiatul Jannah
Abstract: Central Java–West Java border communities live in a multicultural environment where Javanese and Sundanese cultures meet, forming distinctive multilingual communication practices. The use of Javanese, Sundanese, and Indonesian… donesian in everyday life functions not only as a means of communication, but also as a representation of the community's social identity. This study aims to analyze the multilingual communication practices of Central Java–West Java border communities and to explain the role of language in representing community social identity. The study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with a literature review method supported by social-contextual reflection. Data were obtained from various scientific sources discussing multilingual communication, social identity, intercultural communication, bilingualism, and multilingualism. The analysis was carried out through the stages of data reduction, theme categorization, meaning interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that border communities flexibly use Javanese, Sundanese, and Indonesian according to the context of interaction, social relations, and communication needs. The practices of code switching and code mixing are important parts of daily communication as forms of social and cultural adaptation. In addition, language use functions as a symbol of cultural identity, a means of identity negotiation, and a mechanism of social integration in a multicultural environment. The findings affirm that multilingual communication is a representation of dynamic social identity and reflects the ability of border communities to maintain social harmony amid cultural diversity.
