LEADERSHIP AND WORK-LIFE AS DRIVING FACTORS FOR EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT AND PERFORMANCE

Ohoiwutun, Stanislaus Kostka, Rahawarin, Mohamad Arsad
Abstract: This study examines how leadership and work-life balance influence employee performance directly and indirectly through employee engagement at the Fisheries Service of Central Maluku Regency. A descriptive quantitative,… causal-correlational design was applied to the entire population of 49 employees using total sampling. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, path analysis, and Sobel tests to estimate direct, indirect, and mediating effects. The findings show that leadership significantly affects employee engagement (beta = 0.582; p < 0.001), while work-life balance also has a significant, although smaller, effect on engagement (beta = 0.129; p = 0.005). Employee engagement strongly affects performance (beta = 0.942; p < 0.001). In contrast, the direct effects of leadership (beta = 0.034; p = 0.613) and work-life balance (beta = -0.008; p = 0.756) on performance are not significant. Sobel testing confirms that employee engagement mediates the effect of leadership on performance (p = 0.00015) and the effect of work-life balance on performance (p = 0.03). The model explains 92.4% of the variance in performance. The study's novelty lies in demonstrating, within a local public-sector context, that leadership and work-life balance improve performance primarily by strengthening employee engagement rather than through direct effects. These findings imply that public organizations should prioritize engagement-oriented leadership and work-life policies to achieve sustainable employee performance.

Orcitia, Suryanti, Tenripada, Jamaluddin, Darmawan, I Putu Edi
Abstract: The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of auditors’ competence, workload, and personality type on auditors’ fraud detection ability at the Central Sulawesi Province Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) Representative… sentative Office. This research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. The population consisted of 40 auditors, and the sample was determined using a saturated sampling technique (total sampling), involving all 40 auditors as research respondents. Data collected through Likert-scale questionnaires were analyzed using multiple linear regression with IBM SPSS Statistics version 25. The results indicate that personality type has a positive and significant effect on auditors’ fraud detection ability, while competence and workload do not show significant partial effects. However, all independent variables simultaneously influence fraud detection ability. Based on the adjusted R-square value of 0.324, the research model explains 32.4% of the variation in auditors’ fraud detection ability, while the remaining 67.6% is explained by other factors outside the research model

THE SCIENCE OF ABROGATION (ABROGATION): MODERN CRITIQUE

Muhammedh, Dheen
Abstract: Abrogation (abrogation) holds a central, vexed position in Islamic legal-theological hermeneutics. Classical uṣūl al-fiqh elaborated a technical theory of abrogation that attempted to mediate the diachronic process of revelation… revelation and the demands of fixity of legal judgment (ḥukm). Tradition receipts that later scripture abrogates earlier scripture wherever actual, unavoidable contradiction is found, classically expressed as "al-nāsikh wa-l-mansūkh.". Pre-modern thinkers classified modes and cases of abrogation, inferred them from revelational phases, and counted suspected cases throughout the Qur'an and Sunna. Modern scholarship avoids both epistemic pretensions and hyperbolic earlier assertions of abrogation. The article tracks early meanings, introduces intratraditional caution that moderated abrogation, and evaluates recent re-analyses based on coherence theory, maqāṣid (purposes), historicization in context, and ethics. It argues that abrogation was included in pre-modern dogmatics as a component of a package of other hermeneutical strategies (specification, restriction, prioritization, suspension) and that available resources allow for a less ambitious, economy-of-means approach. A renovated dogma leaner, evidence-based, and syncretized with maqāṣid and semantics can ensure the normativity of revelation and make the law more attentive to modern moral concerns, such as gender justice, religious pluralism, and violence. The paper reaches its climax with the proposal of a "manifest conflict resolution" regime. where abrogation is held in reserve as a last resort and not the initial starting point and has ramification for legal rulings (fatwā), legal codification and education more widely. Belasa, Sitra Yani, Paledung, Marannu, Tijahahu, Sheilla Vilensia, Unawekla, Dean Marchia, Mantouw, Rosdiana Yudith, Salamor, Feliks Jhonrey, Malik, Wahyu, Rompas, Shean Juan, Belasa, Nurlina
Abstract: Plastic waste is an environmental problem that continues to increase along with the development of community economic activities, especially in traditional market areas. Mardika Market, Ambon City, as a center of trade and… nd community economic activities, produces a fairly high volume of plastic waste, requiring effective and sustainable management. This study aims to analyze plastic waste management and its implications for community economic activities in the Mardika Market area of Ambon City. The study used a qualitative descriptive method with a literature study and document analysis approach. Data were obtained from publications from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the National Waste Management Information System (SIPSN), scientific journals, government reports, and various relevant documents. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that plastic waste management in the Mardika Market area still faces various challenges, including the high use of single-use plastics, limited community participation, and the suboptimal implementation of the Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (3R) principles. These conditions have implications for the cleanliness and comfort of the market environment, which can affect community economic activities, especially visitor comfort and trading activities. Therefore, synergy between the government, traders, and the community is needed to improve the effectiveness of plastic waste management to support the creation of a clean, comfortable, and productive market environment.

Co-Production and Collaborative Networking In The Public Entrepreneurship Ecosystem

Wicaksono, Deni, Wardiyanto , Bistoro
Abstract: Public service innovation in the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Indonesia has been historically dominated by the managerial logic of New Public Management, which positions efficiency and quantitative… uantitative targets as the measure of success. This approach fails to build long-term relational capacity among entrepreneurs, government, and the broader supporting ecosystem. This article analyses HETERO SPACE (House of Entrepreneurs, Technology-driven Ecosystem, Resource Optimization, Supportive Programs, Accessible Network, Collaborative Environment), a public service innovation developed by the Cooperatives and SME Office of Central Java Province, which received outstanding recognition in the 2025 Public Service Innovation Competition. The analysis applies a New Public Governance framework with emphasis on two sub-theoretical dimensions, namely co-production and collaborative networking. The research approach is a qualitative case study drawing on secondary data from the official Public Service Innovation System, implementation reports of the Central Java Cooperatives and SME Office, and relevant academic literature. The central argument is that HETERO SPACE is not merely an expanded MSME assistance programmed but a transition in the role of government from a sole service provider to an ecosystem orchestrator that mobilizes resources across actors. Findings indicate that HETERO SPACE success rests on three interrelated conditions, namely a platform design that facilitates inter-actor encounters, trust built through repeated interaction, and institutional commitment from the provincial government to share authority with non-state partners. The article contributes to Indonesian public administration literature by shifting the analytical arena of co-production from the social and health sectors to economic governance, and by demonstrating that New Public Governance principles can be operationalized concretely at the subnational level.

Economic Loss Due To Mental Fragility in The Analysis of Provincial Economic Productivity in Indonesia

Taqwa, Muhammad, Soesilowati, Etty, Mukhlis, Imam
Abstract: Mental health is a strategic issue in economics because it affects the quality of human resources and regional economic productivity. This study aims to analyze the impact of schizophrenia, depression, and suicidal ideation… ion on economic losses across provinces in Indonesia and to examine the role of depression treatment as a mediating variable. The study employs a quantitative approach using explanatory research and a cross-sectional design based on secondary data from 2023. Data were obtained from the Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia and Regional Gross Domestic Product (PDRB) data from the Central Statistics Agency, with 38 provinces in Indonesia as the units of analysis. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, multiple linear regression, and causal mediation analysis. The results of the study indicate that schizophrenia, depression, and suicidal ideation have a significant negative effect on economic loss, as proxied by per capita GRDP. Depression is the variable with the greatest negative impact on regional economic productivity. Furthermore, treatment for depression was found to act as a significant mediator capable of mitigating the negative impact of depression on economic loss. These findings indicate that improved access to mental health services contributes to increased community economic productivity and a reduction in regional economic losses. This study makes a theoretical contribution to the development of development economics and health economics research through the integration of mental health variables and regional economic productivity. Practically, the research results underscore the importance of integrating mental health services into regional development policies to improve the quality of human resources and reduce economic loss in Indonesia.

Consumer Trust In Influencer-Based Digital Marketing: A Qualitative Study Among Beauty Product Consumers In Makassar City

Riu, Isma Azis, Radjab, Irsan, Arif, Hery Maulana, Haeruddin, M. Ilham Wardhana, Aswar, Nurul Fadilah
Abstract: Influencer marketing has emerged as a dominant strategy within the digital marketing landscape, particularly in the Indonesian beauty industry. This study investigates how consumers in Makassar City develop and sustain trust… rust in influencer-based marketing content on social media platforms. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, in-depth semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 purposively selected participants who actively consume beauty content on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis encompassing open coding, axial coding, and selective coding procedures. The findings reveal five core themes: (1) authenticity as the primary driver of trust formation; (2) the negative impact of excessive commercialization on perceived credibility; (3) the role of influencer expertise and product knowledge in legitimizing recommendations; (4) parasocial relationships as amplifiers of emotional attachment and brand loyalty; and (5) consumer skepticism as an emerging critical evaluation strategy. The study demonstrates that trust remains the central mediating variable linking influencer characteristics to purchase intentions. Consumers exhibit nuanced evaluation behaviors, distinguishing between genuine advocacy and sponsored content. The research contributes theoretically by integrating Source Credibility Theory, Parasocial Interaction Theory, and the Trust-Commitment Theory within the influencer marketing context. Managerially, the findings suggest that brands should prioritize authentic, transparent, and expertise-driven influencer collaborations rather than high-volume promotional campaigns.
