TOWARDS AN INTEGRATED MODEL OF COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE IN BUSINESS EDUCATION : THE ROLE OF BILINGUAL COMPETENCY AND PAIR INTERACTION

R, Suhartina
Abstract: Communicative competence has become an essential competency for business education students in response to the growing demands of multilingual, multicultural, and technology-driven workplaces. However, previous studies have… ave generally examined bilingual competency, collaborative learning, and communicative competence as separate constructs, providing limited understanding of their integrated relationships. This study aimed to develop an Integrated Communicative Competence Model for business education through the synthesis of previous empirical studies and recent international literature. A conceptual research design employing an integrative evidence synthesis approach was used to analyse empirical findings on bilingual competency, pair interaction, communicative competence, and professional readiness. The synthesis demonstrates that bilingual competency provides the linguistic and intercultural foundation for effective communication, while pair interaction functions as a collaborative learning mechanism that strengthens authentic communication practices. The interaction of these dimensions enhances communicative competence, which subsequently improves students' professional readiness and graduate employability in multilingual business environments. The proposed model contributes to communication studies by integrating bilingual competency and collaborative learning into a unified conceptual framework and provides practical guidance for curriculum development and communication-oriented learning in business education.

Impact of Job Preferences on Self-Perceived Employability: A Study Among Bandung University Alumni (2021–2023)

Mufarrihati, Vania Citta, Sondari, Mery Citra, Sartika, Dina
Abstract: This study investigates the impact of job preferences on self-perceived employability (SPE) among university graduates in Bandung, Indonesia. Unemployment in Indonesia, particularly among fresh graduates, has highlighted… structural issues in the labor market, including skill mismatches and insufficient job creation. Job preferences, including factors such as salary, work-life balance, and career development, are crucial in determining an individual’s ability to secure desirable employment. This research, based on a sample of 280 graduates from various universities, reveals that well-defined and realistic job preferences positively influence SPE. The analysis shows a significant and strong relationship between job preferences and employability, with a high path coefficient (0.986) and a T-statistics value far exceeding the significance threshold. The results highlight the importance of aligning personal career goals with market demands, enhancing individuals’ self-confidence in their employability. Educational institutions also play a key role in shaping job preferences and employability by providing skills that match labor market needs. The study underscores the need for better integration between education and industry to improve graduates’ market readiness. Universities in Bandung should integrate skill training aligned with labor market demands, career guidance, industry trend seminars, and job search strategies to ensure graduates possess relevant preferences and skills for the workforce. This study employed the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method to analyze the factors influencing graduate employability preferences. As a recommendation, higher education institutions and policymakers should emphasize industry collaboration and adopt policies that enhance graduates’ readiness for the evolving job market.

The Role of Soft Skills Training on Employability with Self-Efficacy as an Intervening Variable

Sahabuddin, Romansyah
Abstract: This study aims to analyze the effect of soft skills training on employability of students of the Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Makassar State University, with self-efficacy as an intervening… ng variable. Employability is the ability of graduates to enter the world of work, which is not only determined by technical knowledge, but also soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and leadership. This study used the SEM-PLS approach to analyze data obtained from 116 student respondents. The results showed that soft skills training has a positive and significant effect on employability. In addition, self-efficacy also acts as a significant intervening variable, although the direct effect of self-efficacy on employability is lower than the effect of soft skills training. The final conclusion of this study shows that an effective soft skills training program can increase student employability, both directly and through increased self- efficacy.
