Toefl Preparation Class in Non EFL Classroom: How is it Impactful on The Non-EFL Learners’ Achievement?

Abstract: Having problem of reaching the tested aspects of TOEFL particularly on achieving target score of TOEFL set, participants needed to be provided an intervention with TOEFL preparation class before encountering the test. For… r that reason, this community service activity highlighted the impact of TOEFL preparation class on the non EFL learners’ achievement. One class was used as the sample of this activity in which it consisted of twenty students coming from different major in one of private universities in Palembang, southern region of sumatera. Descriptive analysis with experimental design was used. A test was administered to see whether or not there was a significant improvement on the non EFL learners’ TOEFL-like score achievement. The results revealed that achievement level of the participants were in the elementary and intermediate category. Besides, statistically there was a significant improvement on the EFL learners’ TOEFL-like score intervened by the provision of TOEFL preparation class. Thus, it could be further concluded that TOEFL preparation class was impactful on the non EFL undergaduates’ English achievement.   Keywords: TOEFL preparation class; Non EFL Classroom; Non EFL learners’                  achievement

APPLICATION OF TOPSIS METHOD FOR DETERMINATION OF ENGLISH COURSE INSTITUTION

Abstract: Abstract: English course institutions are one of the most sought after non-formal education places to learn and improve English language skills, especially to be able to master the TOEFL well. To choose a suitable course… institution, that is by visiting the respective course places. Of course, things like this take a lot of time, effort, and money. For this reason, a decision support system is needed that can provide recommendations for the best course institutions using the TOPSIS method. The data used are 18 alternatives with criteria including course fees, number of facilities, length of study hours, instructor's TOEFL, and distance from the course. The calculation results provide a recommendation that the alternative A Class IBT is the best English course institution.   Keywords: English Course; Decision Support System; TOPSIS     Abstrak:. Lembaga kursus bahasa inggris merupakan salah satu tempat pendidikan nonformal yang saat ini banyak dicari untuk mempelajari dan meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa inggris khususnya untuk dapat menguasai TOEFL dengan baik. Untuk memilih lembaga kursus yang cocok yaitu dengan mendatangi ke tempat kursus masing-masing. Tentunya hal seperti ini banyak waktu, tenaga, dan biaya yang diperlukan. Untuk itu diperlukan suatu sistem pendukung           keputusan yang dapat memberikan rekomendasi lembaga kursus yang terbaik menggunakan metode TOPSIS. Data yang digunakan adalah 18 alternatif dengan kriteria antara lain uang        kursus, jumlah fasilitas, lama jam belajar, TOEFL instruktur, dan jarak tempat kursus. Evaluation Of the Cipp Model Program in Implementing the Toefl Test at Upt Universitas Sembilanbelas November Kolaka

Abstract: This research aims to evaluate the implementation of the TOEFL test at Sembilanbelas November University Kolaka using the CIPP (Context, Input, Process, Product) evaluation model. The research method used is evaluation research… esearch with a qualitative approach. This research sample involved the Language UPT of Sembilanbelas November Kolaka University as the research subject, with a focus on the implementation of the TOEFL test and related programs. Data was obtained through observation, in-depth interviews and documentation studies. The collected data was analyzed using the data analysis model from Miles and Huberman, which includes data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing stages. The research results show that the implementation of the TOEFL test at the UPT Bahasa Sembilanbelas November Kolaka University has several weaknesses, especially related to inadequate physical facilities, lack of training for instructors, and lack of flexibility in the test implementation schedule. Despite this, the program was successful in improving participants' English language skills, although there is still a need to focus more on developing broader practical and communication skills. This evaluation provides recommendations for improvement and further development in the implementation of the TOEFL test program, with the hope that these steps will improve the quality of test implementation and provide a greater contribution to students' academic and professional progress.
