EFFECTIVENESS OF SOURSOP (ANNONA MURICATA) LEAF EXTRACT AS A BOTANICAL PESTICIDE AGAINST ARMYWORM (SPODOPTERA LITURA) ON MUSTARD GREENS (BRASSICA JUNCEA)

Sulaminingsih
Abstract: The intensive use of synthetic chemical pesticides in agriculture has led to various negative impacts on the environment and human health, as well as increased pest resistance. As an alternative, plant-based pesticides (botanical… botanical insecticides) have shown potential due to their eco-friendly and sustainable nature. This study aims to review the effectiveness of soursop (Annona muricata) leaf extract as a botanical pesticide against the gray caterpillar (Spodoptera litura) on mustard plants (Brassica juncea), using a literature review method. Data were collected through a systematic search of accredited national and international scientific journals, then analyzed descriptively and comparatively. The findings indicate that soursop leaves contain bioactive compounds such as acetogenins, flavonoids, and saponins, which act as stomach poisons, antifeedants, and repellents to S. litura. Several studies reported that extracts from Annona spp. leaves and seeds effectively inhibit larval growth, reduce feeding activity, damage digestive tissues, and lead to larval death. This effectiveness highlights the potential of soursop leaves as a safe and efficient candidate for botanical pesticide development. The study also identifies a research gap regarding field-scale testing on mustard plants, suggesting the need for further agronomic validation.

Isdianto, Andik, Fitrianti, Novariza
Abstract: This study aims to evaluate the impact of incision depth in Sunnah cupping therapy on safety and therapeutic efficacy, with a focus on identifying the optimal incision depth that minimizes risks while maximizing therapeutic… tic benefits. The method used is a literature review, gathering data from scientific databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar using keywords related to cupping therapy, incision depth, and dermatological aspects. The findings reveal that an incision depth of 0.5 mm to 1 mm in the dermis layer not only avoids damage to the deeper hypodermis but is also sufficient for the effective extraction of stagnant blood. This very light incision provides advantages in enhancing blood circulation and facilitating the extraction of stagnant blood necessary in cupping therapy. This approach, involving extremely light incisions, cannot be considered invasive and is highly suitable for enhancing therapy efficacy without compromising patient safety. Further discussion in the study highlights that with the correct incision technique, cupping therapy can become safer and more effective, encouraging significant improvements in immune response and tissue regeneration. The conclusion of this study underscores the importance of standardizing procedures and adequate training for cupping practitioners to ensure safe and effective practices. Further research is recommended to strengthen the evidence related to the effectiveness and safety of cupping therapy and to develop more detailed standard protocols.

Abstract: Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) is extracted coconut oil containing medium chain fatty acids that have been believed to have many health functions. These fatty acids are easily digested and absorbed by the intestines because the… e size of the molecules is relatively small so that they can be directly burned by the body to produce energy. In addition, VCO contains lauric acid which can dissolve the virus membrane in the form of lipids so that it will interfere with the immunity of the virus, so that the virus becomes inactive. VCO is processed without heating, no additional chemicals, dyes, and preservatives so that it can survive as pure vegetable oil so that it does not change the composition or characteristics of the oil. VCO has high economic value. The manufacturing process is easy. The methods in this Community Service are Counseling, direct Practice and discussion. It is hoped that the use of coconuts will not only be sold in the form of unprocessed fruit but coconuts are processed into pure coconut oil or Virgin Coconut Oil and can be developed more widely through group entrepreneurship programs so as to increase the income of the congregation, especially the Women's group in the GMIT Marturia Oesapa Selatan Congregation, Kelapa Lima District, Kupang City.
