THE ROLE OF RESTAURANT TAXES IN INCREASING REGIONAL REVENUE IN SLEMAN

Abstract: Regional Autonomy is a strategic step taken by the government to overcome uneven development in Indonesia where local governments are responsible for improving regional development. One of the important factors for the success… uccess of regional development is the effectiveness of local revenue reflected through local taxes. The effectiveness of local taxes is a study of the collection performance carried out by the Regional Revenue Service during one fiscal year to determine the effectiveness of local taxes realized with the set target. Sleman Regency is one of the regions that currently has high Regional Original Revenue and one of the sources of revenue is restaurant tax. Sleman as one of the strategic areas provides many opportunities to increase Regional Original Revenue through taxes, including restaurant tax. The results of calculations and observations of data on the effectiveness of restaurant tax revenue in Sleman Regency for the last 4 years starting from 2019 to 2022 have fluctuated. The average effectiveness rate that reaches 112% indicates a very effective achievement. In terms of restaurant tax contribution to Regional Original Revenue, 2022 is the year with the largest restaurant tax contribution over the past 4 years because in that year Indonesia has begun to recover from covid-19, but the contribution of restaurant tax to Sleman Regency's Original Revenue is still in the category of less with an average restaurant tax contribution of 10.66%.

Literature Study: Transparency and Accountability of Local Government

Abstract: This study examines the process of preparing financial statements for Regional Work Units (Regional Work Units, SKPD) using an accrual-based accounting approach in accordance with Government Regulation No. 71 of 2010. The… e discussion focuses on the complete accounting cycle, from the opening balance sheet to the final financial statements. The methodology used includes literature review and best practice analysis, using illustrative data. The results emphasize the importance of a comprehensive understanding of the SKPD accounting cycle to produce accurate financial statements that adhere to established standards. Furthermore, this study reviews existing literature on transparency and accountability in local governments, identifies challenges and opportunities, and offers recommendations to enhance these aspects. By understanding the accrual-based accounting process and advancing transparency and accountability efforts, it is expected that local government financial statements will become more meaningful, reliable, and supportive of better decision-making processes for stakeholders.

Fairclough’s Three Dimensions Critical Discourse Analysis of Malcolm X’s Speech at Oxford Union Debate

Abstract: In discourse, speech is not only considered as a linguistic phenomenon but also as a means to maintain or change power relations in society. One of the clearest examples of the use of speech in discourse to change social… change occurred in The Black Civil Rights Movement from 1955 to 1968 in the United States. Based on the interest in studying Malcolm X's speech further, the thesis writer decided to analyze Malcolm X's speech at the Oxford Union Debate using Fairclough's Critical Discourse Analysis framework with a qualitative method that will focus on linguistic issues as part of social and humanitarian issues. The results of this study showed deconstruction result of Malcolm X's speech text by analyzing various linguistic features from the dimensions of text practice (including positive and negative lexical items, key terms of ideology and belief, modality, and rhetorical devices), discursive practice (including intertextuality and shared knowledge), and sociocultural (including formality and personal pronouns), then continued with a discussion of the relationship between discourse, power, and ideology and the role of Malcolm X's speech in the historical context at that time. It can be concluded that Malcolm X's speech highlights his advocacy for revolutionary justice and self-defense for oppressed black people. He also challenged the power structures of his time, opposing segregation and exposing the hypocrisy of the American and Western governments with white supremacy and colonialism behind the mask of democracy.

Strengthening Bali's Reserve Economic Base: The Identification Made Pre And During Pandemic

Abstract: Bali is the province hardest strike by the Covid-19 pandemic. The drying up of tourist arrivals strike accommodation and transportation businesses. Until now, the government has not heard any special actions to restore that’s… hat’s Indonesian tourism icon. Therefore, in a decentralized system, understanding the economic characteristics of a region is important to increase economic productivity to make it more optimal. In this regard, this analysis aims to provide an overview of the economic characteristics in the province of Bali before the pandemic and during the pandemic and identify potential sectors that need to be developed. This study uses the Location Quotient, Shift-Share, Klassen Typology, and Overlay analysis methods from 2010 to 2021. From the results of the research, Bali Province before the pandemic had five leading sectors, but during the pandemic, Bali Province did not move only one base sector can become a mainstay, further innovation strategies are needed to stimulate Bali's economy to rise to the way it was before the pandemic. It takes the right policies from the Central and Regional Governments to make innovations and strategies so that the Bali economy returns to what it was before the pandemic.
