Implementation Of The Advanced Encryption Standard-128 Algorithm And Huffman Compression To Protect Student Grade Data

Dzulfikar Ahmad Firdaus, Fida Maisa Hana, Widya Cholid Wahyudin
Abstract: Student grade data is personal data that must be protected under Indonesian Law Number 27 of 2022 on Personal Data Protection, yet the rising number of data breaches in the education sector shows that such protection has… not been optimally implemented. This study implements the 128-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm combined with Huffman compression to protect the confidentiality and integrity of student grade files in Excel (.xlsx) format, and evaluates its effectiveness through functional, performance, and security testing. The system was developed as a Python desktop application with a CustomTkinter interface, in which the encryption process runs Huffman compression before AES-128, while integrity verification uses SHA-256 hashing. Testing was conducted on seven student grade files from MA Ma'ahid Kudus. The results show that all files were successfully encrypted and decrypted without failure or data alteration, with encryption times of 0.0142-0.0828 seconds and decryption times of 0.0046-0.1417 seconds. The SHA-256 hash values of the original and decrypted files were identical for all samples, yielding 100% recovery accuracy, while the file size increase from padding and header insertion ranged only from 1,092 to 1,101 bytes. The study concludes that the combination of AES-128 and Huffman compression is an effective and efficient solution for protecting student grade data in educational institutions.

Digital Financial Transparency and Sustainable Public Governance: Evidence From Local Governments in West Java Province

Utie, Maulida Salmi, Ulfa, Muthia, Dalimunthe, Imaniel Rahel Riana
Abstract: Digital financial transparency is crucial for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly for building accountable and trustworthy public institutions. Limited studies examine whether digitalization… actually delivers accessible financial information and whether such transparency strengthens sustainable public governance. This study addresses that gap by constructing an original, multi-dimensional, portal-level Digital Financial Transparency Index (DFTI) and linking it to sustainable public governance, an association not previously tested at the Indonesian subnational level. Using a quantitative, explanatory design, financial management and public information portals are assessed through content analysis. Twenty-one indicators covering organizational information, financial transparency, and website accessibility are aggregated into the DFTI. Sustainable public governance is proxied by the 2024 electronic-based government system (SPBE) index, the only nationally standardized, externally assessed, and annually published measure of digital public administration maturity in Indonesia. Ordinary least squares regression tests the hypothesis, complemented by Spearman correlation as a non-parametric robustness check suited to the small city and regency subsamples. The findings show DFTI has a positive and significant effect on SPBE (β = 0.026; p = 0.032). The effect operates through content rather than appearance: among regencies, organizational information and financial transparency correlate significantly (p < 0.05) with SPBE, website accessibility does not. The results provide recommendations that local governments should adopt a standardized minimum financial-disclosure content and prioritize the weakest indicators, which are raw data, citizen-friendly budget summaries, and personal data protection. Also the provincial government should channel budget-capacity support to low-DFTI regencies, where transparency and maturity are most strongly associated with budget resources to advance SDG 17.

PENGUATAN TALENT MANAGEMENT SEBAGAI FONDASI KEPEMIMPINAN ORGANISASI MAHASISWA: PENGABDIAN KEPADA MASYARAKAT MELALUI PEMBEKALAN MATERI PADA LATIHAN DASAR KEPEMIMPINAN MAHASISWA (LDKM) HIMPUNAN MAHASISWA PENDIDIKAN EKONOMI

Abstract: The leadership of student organizations is an important foundation for the sustainability and effectiveness of student activities in higher education institutions. However, many student organization leaders do not yet have… ve a sufficient understanding of how to identify, develop, and maintain the potential of members (talent management), resulting in the leadership regeneration process often being less than optimal. This community service activity was conducted in the form of material preparation for the Student Leadership Basic Training (LDKM) organized by the Student Association (HIMA) of Economic Education on August 9, 2026, at Villa Cantik, with the theme "The Urgency of Leadership." A total of 55 students participated as event participants. The material presented focuses on talent management within organizations, covering the identification of member potential, competency development strategies, and mapping the regeneration of management. The implementation methods include interactive lectures, group discussions, and organizational case studies. The results of the activity show an increase in participants' understanding of the concept of talent management, marked by high enthusiasm in discussions and the participants' ability to formulate strategies for managing members' potential in organizational case simulations. This activity made a tangible contribution to strengthening students' leadership capacities and opened up opportunities for sustainable collaboration between academics and student organizations within the Economics Education Study Program

A MODEL OF CROSS-BORDER UNIVERSITY COLLABORATION IN THE DISTRIBUTION OF HUMANITARIAN AID TO FLOOD VICTIMS IN KETAMBE SUBDISTRICT (SOUTHEAST ACEH)

Assauwab, Muhammad Husaini, Kartono, Kartono, Ramud, Anuar, Sukriadi, Sukriadi, Alsi, Ilham, Apandi, Irfan, Marzuki, Mohd, Harith, Mohd
Abstract: The flood disaster that occurred in Ketambe District, Southeast Aceh Regency, at the end of 2025 caused significant impacts on local communities, including damage to housing, disruption of economic activities, and increased… sed demand for basic necessities. These conditions required a rapid, targeted, and well-coordinated humanitarian response. This community service program aimed to provide clothing and food assistance to flood victims while developing a cross-border university collaboration model for disaster response. The program was implemented through a partnership involving Universitas Gunung Leuser (UGL), Universiti Poly-Tech Malaysia (UPTM), and Insan Cakna. The implementation stages included needs assessment, institutional coordination, aid procurement, aid distribution, and program evaluation. UGL was responsible for needs assessment, local coordination, and aid distribution, while UPTM served as the primary donor providing financial assistance, clothing, and food supplies. Insan Cakna acted as the liaison and coordination facilitator between both institutions. The results demonstrated that the collaboration model improved the effectiveness and accuracy of aid distribution while strengthening institutional synergy in disaster response efforts. Beyond providing direct benefits to affected communities, the program generated a cross-border university collaboration model that can be replicated in future humanitarian and disaster management initiatives. The findings highlight that the success of humanitarian programs depends not only on the availability of aid but also on effective coordination, clear division of responsibilities, and sustainable institutional partnerships.

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PARENTING STYLES AND CHILDREN'S NUTRITIONAL STATUS IN KUTA BARO DISTRICT

Putra, Yadi, Mustafa, Muhammad Fendra, Sakdah, Nurul, Yusrika, Yusrika, Daud, M.
Abstract: The issue of nutritional status among toddlers in Aceh Province, particularly in Kuta Baro Subdistrict, remains a serious concern due to the high prevalence of undernutrition and stunting. This study aims to determine the… e relationship between parenting practices and children’s nutritional status in Kuta Baro Subdistrict. A descriptive-correlational method with a quantitative approach was used. The study population consisted of all 2,132 toddlers in Kuta Baro Subdistrict, with a sample of 96 toddlers selected using simple random sampling. Data on parenting practices were collected via a questionnaire, while nutritional status was measured using the weight-for-age indicator. Data analysis was conducted using a correlation test to determine the relationship between parenting practices and children’s nutritional status. The results indicate a significant relationship between parental child-rearing practices and children’s nutritional status (p=0.000). Positive and attentive child-rearing practices are correlated with optimal nutritional status, whereas inappropriate child-rearing practices are associated with poor to very poor nutritional status. Based on these findings, it is recommended that the Department of Health and educational institutions enhance parenting education and support programs for parents to improve children’s nutritional status in the region. Future research is expected to examine other factors influencing children’s nutritional status using more comprehensive methods.

STRATEGY FOR DEVELOPING THE EMPOWERMENT AND WELL-BEING OF WOMEN SEAFOOD PROCESSORS THROUGH THE SYNERGY OF RELIGIOSITY AND SOCIAL FACTORS

Hayati, Feb Amni, Fajarini, Ulfa, Maman, U.
Abstract: Women engaged in marine product processing play a crucial role in the national fisheries value chain, yet this strategic contribution has not been matched with formal recognition, access to resources, or decent welfare levels.… evels. This study aims to analyze the influence of religiosity and social factors on the empowerment and welfare of marine product processing women at the National Fisheries Port (PPN) Karangantu, Serang City, Banten, as well as to formulate a development strategy based on the synergy of these two factors. This research employs a mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design, combining quantitative methods through PLS-SEM analysis on 235 respondents, and qualitative methods through in-depth interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGD). The results show that religiosity and social factors have a positive and significant effect on women’s empowerment, which in turn impacts welfare improvement across economic, social, and psychological dimensions. Findings also reveal that religious values which currently focus mainly on ritual aspects, alongside patriarchal social norms, serve as key barriers; meanwhile, community support and the integration of religious values into economic activities act as major reinforcing factors. Based on SWOT analysis, this study proposes strategies for strengthening local value-based institutions, integrating empowerment programs with religious activities, and advocating for policies that support coastal women. This research contributes new insights by presenting an integrated model of religiosity and social dimensions in the empowerment of women in the fisheries sector, an area that has not been widely explored in previous studies.

THE DYNAMICS OF USER-GENERATED CONTENT ON TIKTOK SOCIAL MEDIA IN RELATION TO BRAND TRUST AND UNIVERSITY CHOICE DECISIONS: THE ROLE OF BRAND AUTHENTICITY AS A MEDIATING VARIABLE

Harmono, Harmono, Yulianto, Aan
Abstract: This study aims to examine the influence of User-Generated Content (UGC) on the TikTok platform on Brand Trust and the Decision to Choose a Higher Education Institution, with Brand Authenticity serving as the mediating variable.… ariable. This study employs an explanatory quantitative approach. Data were collected via an online survey of a purposive sample comprising prospective students or first-year students (aged 17–21) who actively use TikTok and interact with university-related content. Data analysis was conducted on a minimum of 250 respondents using Partial Least Squares (PLS)-based Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) with the aid of SmartPLS software. The results of the outer model testing showed that all indicators used in the questionnaire were valid and reliable. Hypothesis testing confirmed that User-Generated Content has a direct, positive and significant effect on Brand Authenticity, Brand Trust and Choice Decision. Furthermore, Brand Authenticity also has a positive and significant effect on Brand Trust and Choice Decision. Mediation analysis revealed that Brand Authenticity acts as a partial mediator, bridging the influence of UGC on Brand Trust and Choice Decisions. This study confirms that user-generated organic content on TikTok is a crucial instrument in building trust and influencing the academic decisions of Generation Z. Higher education brands that are authentically represented through UGC will find it easier to win the trust and preference of prospective students.

Nugraha, Restu Alya, Firdaus, Siti Aina, Andayani, Nopi, Ramdhani, Miftah Faiz Ali, Oktaviani, Maya
Abstract: Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are crucial for local economic development, employment absorption and community welfare. However, the success of empowerment programmes in rural regions generally stays at the… implementation level. This study seeks to examine the implementation of MSME empowerment program in enhancing business independence in Desa Curugciung Kecamatan Cikeusik Kabupaten Pandeglang. The study used a descriptive qualitative design. The collection of data was carried out through observation, semi-structured interviews and documentation with seven informants, including the sub-district head, village head, a BRI officer, the chairperson of the Village Consultative Body, and three MSME actors. Data were evaluated by Miles, Huberman and Saldaña’s interactive approach which consists of data collection, data condensation, data display and conclusion drafting. The findings indicate that the implementation of the MSME empowerment program has not been adequately carried out. Communication on the program at the bureaucratic level was still limited and did not reach the MSME actors to the fullest. Training, mentoring and access to funding were formally provided as resources but not experienced equally by business actors. The commitment of the implementing institutions had not been fully converted into ongoing assistance, while the bureaucratic structure was still more administrative than service-oriented. The results of the study also indicated that the independence of the business of MSME actors is more created via self-initiative, experience and adaptation rather than direct intervention from the empowerment program. The study concluded that the presence of resilient MSMEs in rural areas does not necessarily mean that the policies are well implemented. The essay contributes to the study of public policy implementation in the identification of the gap between the formal empowerment design and the real growth of business independence at the village level.

“INDONESIA COULD NEVER”: VICARIOUS POLITICAL ENGAGEMENT AND THE DIGITAL SPECTRE OF COMPARISONS IN INDONESIAN NETIZENS’ DISCOURSE ON ZOHRAN MAMDANI

Akbar, Muhammad Rafly, Yasya, Wichitra
Abstract: This study examines how a non-diasporic public in the Global South engages with a foreign election in which it holds no vote, no residence, and no direct material stake. Rather than asking how Indonesian netizens represent… nt Zohran Mamdani, the first Muslim Mayor of New York City, it asks what talking about Mamdani does for these netizens as members of their own polity, and develops the concept of comparative civic imagination: the use of a foreign political figure as a discursive instrument for evaluating, criticising, and re-imagining one’s own democracy. The study applies qualitative Computer-Mediated Discourse Analysis (CMDA) to public Indonesian-language discourse about Mamdani on platform X between 1 November 2025 and 30 June 2026, drawing on a purposively constructed corpus of 213 units—134 citizen-account units as the analytical core and 79 media-account units as contextual triangulation—recoded by comparative function and affective register rather than by stance toward the figure. The findings show that Indonesian netizens engage Mamdani through a comparative architecture organised by the vernacular frame “Mamdani Indonesia” (45% of citizen units) and enacted through three repertoires: analogical personification, institutional benchmarking, and counterfactual transposition. The discourse is animated by civic despair—crystallised in the idiom “Indonesia could never”—which operates as a participatory rather than an apathetic affect, while a domestic value-compatibility filter of doctrinal, sectarian, and purity tests renders the admired model discursively non-transferable, closing a recursive loop theorised here as a digitally networked spectre of comparisons. The article shifts the analysis of transnational digital engagement away from cosmopolitan and diasporic assumptions toward the vicarious engagement of non-diasporic publics, re-theorises despair as a mode of civic engagement, and recovers Benedict Anderson’s spectre of comparisons for platform-era political communication in the Global South.

ENVIRONMENTAL ETHICS AND SOCIAL PRACTICES OF WASTE MANAGEMENT: A STUDY IN KENDARI CITY

Obie, Muhammad
Abstract: Waste management has become one of the most persistent environmental challenges confronting rapidly growing urban areas in Indonesia. While previous studies have primarily explained waste management through technical infrastructure,… rastructure, environmental awareness, or public policy, relatively little attention has been given to the interaction between environmental ethics and everyday social practices in shaping environmental behaviour. This study aims to examine how environmental ethics are translated into community waste management practices in Kendari City from the perspective of environmental sociology. A qualitative case study approach was employed using field observations, semi-structured interviews with 30 informants representing community members, religious leaders, community leaders, sanitation workers, and officials from the Kendari City Environmental Agency, as well as document analysis. The data were analysed using thematic analysis and interpreted through the analytical perspectives of Environmental Sociology, Social Practice Theory, Public Sphere Theory, and Political Ecology. The findings reveal that environmental ethics constitute an important normative foundation for environmental responsibility; however, their implementation in everyday waste management practices is mediated by socially embedded habitus, community values, institutional capacity, public discourse, and local governance. Waste management behaviour is therefore shaped not only by individual awareness but also by continuous interactions among social norms, institutional arrangements, and collective practices. The study concludes that sustainable urban waste management requires integrated approaches combining environmental ethics, community participation, participatory governance, and institutional collaboration. By integrating environmental ethics with environmental sociology, this study contributes to a broader understanding of the social dimensions of urban waste management and offers practical insights for strengthening community-based environmental governance in Indonesia.
