THE SCIENCE OF ABROGATION (ABROGATION): MODERN CRITIQUE

Muhammedh, Dheen
Abstract: Abrogation (abrogation) holds a central, vexed position in Islamic legal-theological hermeneutics. Classical uṣūl al-fiqh elaborated a technical theory of abrogation that attempted to mediate the diachronic process of revelation… revelation and the demands of fixity of legal judgment (ḥukm). Tradition receipts that later scripture abrogates earlier scripture wherever actual, unavoidable contradiction is found, classically expressed as "al-nāsikh wa-l-mansūkh.". Pre-modern thinkers classified modes and cases of abrogation, inferred them from revelational phases, and counted suspected cases throughout the Qur'an and Sunna. Modern scholarship avoids both epistemic pretensions and hyperbolic earlier assertions of abrogation. The article tracks early meanings, introduces intratraditional caution that moderated abrogation, and evaluates recent re-analyses based on coherence theory, maqāṣid (purposes), historicization in context, and ethics. It argues that abrogation was included in pre-modern dogmatics as a component of a package of other hermeneutical strategies (specification, restriction, prioritization, suspension) and that available resources allow for a less ambitious, economy-of-means approach. A renovated dogma leaner, evidence-based, and syncretized with maqāṣid and semantics can ensure the normativity of revelation and make the law more attentive to modern moral concerns, such as gender justice, religious pluralism, and violence. The paper reaches its climax with the proposal of a "manifest conflict resolution" regime. where abrogation is held in reserve as a last resort and not the initial starting point and has ramification for legal rulings (fatwā), legal codification and education more widely. Bridging The Digital-Physical Divide: Transfer Learning For Unified Threat Correlation in Converged IT/OT/IOT Ecosystems

Dzreke, Simon Suwanzy
Abstract: The increased integration of operational technology (OT), Internet of Things (IoT), and business IT systems has allowed sophisticated attackers to circumvent isolated security features and launch cross-platform assaults.… Current fragmented techniques, with discrete detectors monitoring Modbus, Kubernetes, MQTT, or other domain-specific protocols, cannot handle cross-system risks. These methodologies overlook 68% of multi-vector marketing that uses both physical and digital channels. This study introduces a transfer learning architecture to integrate detection capabilities by correlating threats across protocols, devices, and settings. The architecture generates a unified feature space that extracts behavioral semantics from industrial control system logs, cloud telemetry, network traffic, and device-level signals to produce protocol-agnostic threat representations. Adversarial domain adaptation and semantic graph embeddings enable cross-domain knowledge transfer with minimum retraining. Security teams may now discover kill chains like infected cloud containers preceding illegal PLC command execution every 23 minutes. Validated against real-world attack datasets from water treatment facilities (OT) and cloud infrastructure (IT), the system achieved 93.4% cross-platform attack recall, a 41.3 percentage point improvement over prior methodologies. It reduced OT data labeling by 89% and false positives by 93.5%. This paradigm shift transforms threat correlation from a reactive, domain-specific process to adaptive intelligence, boosting resilience for critical infrastructure, industrial ecosystems, and smart environments facing cyber-physical hazards. The framework's practical validation in energy, industry, and vital infrastructure shows its importance in protecting an increasingly linked world.

KONSEP MEDAN MAKNA DALAM PEMIKIRAN AHMAD MUKHTAR UMAR DAN RELEVANSINYA TERHADAP PEMBELAJARAN BAHASA ARAB

Raodhatul Fitri, Haniah, Amrah Kasim
Abstract: This study aims to examine the concept of semantic fields in the thought of Ahmad Mukhtar Umar and its relevance to Arabic language learning. The research employs a qualitative approach with the library study method, which… ch is based on theoretical analysis of relevant scholarly literature. The data consist of primary and secondary sources. The primary data are obtained from Ahmad Mukhtar Umar’s works discussing ‘ilm al-dalālah (semantics), while the secondary data come from books, journal articles, and websites related to semantics and Arabic language learning. The findings show that Ahmad Mukhtar Umar’s linguistic thought is built upon the integration of classical Arabic linguistic traditions and modern linguistic theories, emphasizing language as a dynamic and contextual system of meaning. The concept of the semantic field is understood as a network of semantic relations among vocabulary items, encompassing synonymy, hyponymy, part–whole relations, antonymy, and incompatibility. The study concludes that applying the concept of semantic fields in Arabic language learning enables thematic and conceptual vocabulary development, thereby supporting more meaningful, communicative, and contextual learning.

THE EPISTEMOLOGY OF SHARAF SCIENCE: A HISTORICAL OVERVIEW AND ITS CONTRIBUTION TO ARABIC LINGUISTICS

Fatoni, Ahmad Sirfi, Jamil, Muhammad
Abstract: Arabic morphology constitutes a fundamental branch of classical Arabic linguistics, focusing on morphological word transformation (tashrif) and derivational morphology. Despite more than a millennium of development, epistemological… temological inquiry into ilmu sharaf — concerning its sources of knowledge, methods of rule formation, and scientific validity — remains considerably limited in contemporary academic literature, with existing studies tending toward normative and pedagogical orientations that neglect its fundamental philosophical dimensions. This article aims to examine the epistemology of ilmu sharaf from the philosophy of science perspective, tracing its historical genealogy from the early Islamic codification period through to modern Arabic linguistics, and analyzing its contributions to contemporary Arabic morphology. The research employed a qualitative library research method with historical, epistemological, and comparative-linguistic approaches, utilizing critical analysis of relevant primary and secondary sources. The findings reveal that ilmu sharaf possesses a robust epistemological foundation derived from the Qur'an, hadith, classical Arabic fushah poetry, and qiyas (analogical reasoning), and was developed through the methods of sima' (documentation), istinbath (inference), and ta'lil (rational justification) by linguists of the Bashrahn and Kufahn schools. Ontologically, its subject matter is morphological word transformation that produces semantic change; axiologically, it functions to preserve Arabic linguistic purity and facilitate Qur'anic comprehension. The contributions of ilmu sharaf to modern Arabic linguistics are demonstrably significant, particularly in the development of root-and-pattern morphology theory, derivational semantics, and Arabic natural language processing (NLP). These findings indicate that the classical sharaf tradition is not merely historically relevant but also carries important methodological implications for contemporary Arabic computational linguistics.

An Analysis of Semantics: Denotative and Connotative Meaning in the Song “Exile” by Taylor Swift

Jeyola Josevine Pangaribuan, Bernieke Anggita Ristia Damanik
