Rizky, Alifia Ainun, Kessi, Andi Muhammad Fara, Santy, Raeni Dwi
Abstract: The rapid development of digital technology and social media platforms has significantly transformed consumer purchasing behavior, particularly in relation to digital products. Social media has evolved beyond its traditional… onal role as a communication platform and now functions as an important environment where consumers discover, evaluate, and purchase products. This study aims to explore the psychological factors that influence consumer decision-making in purchasing digital products through social media platforms. A qualitative research approach was employed to gain an in-depth understanding of consumers' experiences and perspectives. Data were collected through semi-structured in-depth interviews with social media users who had purchased digital products based on information encountered on social media platforms. The collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis to identify patterns and themes related to consumer psychology in digital purchasing behavior. The findings reveal that consumer decision-making in purchasing digital products is influenced by several interconnected psychological and social factors. Five major themes emerged from the analysis: social media as a discovery environment, cognitive evaluation of digital products, trust formation and credibility cues, psychological motivations for purchasing digital products, and social influence from peers, influencers, and online communities. The results indicate that social media plays a significant role not only in introducing digital products but also in shaping consumer perceptions, trust, and purchase intentions. Consumers actively interpret information obtained from social media, evaluate product credibility through reviews and recommendations, and rely on social interactions to reduce uncertainty before making purchase decisions. This study contributes to the understanding of consumer psychology in digital environments by highlighting how psychological motivations and social influences interact within social media platforms to shape digital purchasing decisions. The findings also provide practical insights for digital marketers and product creators to design more effective strategies that emphasize authenticity, trust-building, and community engagement in promoting digital products.

FROM CREDIBILITY TO CONSUMPTION: A CROSS CONTEXTUAL REVIEW OF PARASOCIAL INTERACTION AND PURCHASE INTENTION IN INFLUENCER MARKETING

Desinta, Nia Widya
Abstract: The rapid advancement of digital technology has fundamentally reshaped consumer behavior globally, with social media becoming the primary channel for product information seeking. Approximately 51% of Indonesians rely on… user reviews before purchasing, and 62% have bought products under the direct influence of Social Media Influencers (SMIs). Despite this, the psychological mechanisms linking influencer characteristics to purchase intention remain fragmented across sectors and platforms. This systematic literature review synthesizes nineteen empirical studies published between 2020 and 2025, spanning beauty, fashion, gadget, and sustainable product sectors across multiple countries, to examine how Source Credibility (attractiveness, trustworthiness, expertise) and Parasocial Interaction (PSI) jointly shape consumer purchase intentions. Three core findings emerge: (1) trustworthiness is the sole credibility dimension that is universally and consistently significant across all contexts, fundamentally challenging assumptions about the equal contribution of the three credibility dimensions; (2) PSI operates not as a single mediator but as a multi-pathway psychological bridge through hedonic value, brand attitude, vicarious experience, and social-personal value whose specific active pathway is contingent on platform, product type, and cultural context; and (3) generational and cultural moderators systematically shape which credibility dimension most powerfully drives PSI. A Proposed Integrative Conceptual Framework and a synthetic cross-study comparison matrix (Table 2) consolidate these findings. Results offer strategic implications for influencer marketing practice and identify priority directions for future research.

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the application of Feminine Energy among Generation Z female influencers in constructing self-identity on social media. Feminine Energy is understood as an energy that embodies empathy, gentleness,… ess, and emotional balance, which has become a symbol of women’s empowerment (soft empowerment) in the digital era. The research employs a qualitative approach, with data collected through in-depth interviews and observations of social media content produced by influencers who express Feminine Energy values. The analysis draws on Social Identity Theory (Tajfel & Turner, 1979), which highlights the processes of categorization, identification, and social comparison. The findings reveal that the application of Feminine Energy manifests in five key aspects: self-love, confidence, empathetic communication, calm emotional expression, and healthy personal boundaries. Through social processes, influencers internalize these values as integral parts of their personal and digital identities. In conclusion, Feminine Energy is not only a lifestyle but also a social identity strategy used by Gen Z female influencers to build an authentic, empowered, and reflective self-image in the digital space. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a case study approach. Data were collected through direct observation of the Instagram account @tajurkatineung, digital insight documentation, and literature studies related to digital marketing, social media, and AI. The results show that Instagram has a strategic role in increasing the visibility and appeal of Tajur Katineung through its feed, story, and reels features. From a media communication perspective, the @tajurkatineung account shows potential as a two-way media that allows direct interaction with the audience and forms a positive perception of the local tourist destination. This study recommends increasing the digital capacity of managers through training in the use of AI and content strategy, as well as collaboration with influencers and the use of Instagram Ads. This research provides theoretical contributions to the study of digital communication and social media-based marketing, as well as practical benefits for tourism actors in optimizing destination promotion strategies with the support of digital technology.

Using a qualitative approach with a combination of systematic literature analysis and multiple case studies, this research examines how social media platforms facilitate the dissemination of environmental information, promote collective action, and create spaces for discussions on environmental sustainability. The findings indicate that social media plays a significant role in mobilizing individuals to take concrete actions on environmental issues through three main mechanisms: (1) democratization of environmental information, (2) facilitation of the formation of environmental communities, and (3) acceleration of collective responses to urgent environmental issues. The study also finds a positive correlation between the intensity of social media usage for environmental purposes and the level of public awareness and active involvement in environmental preservation. Additionally, the research highlights the significant role of social media as a catalyst for pro-environmental behavior among younger generations. These findings contribute significantly to the development of more effective environmental communication strategies in the digital era, emphasizing the importance of digital literacy in the context of environmental activism. The study recommends combining social media power with concrete actions to achieve optimal impact in addressing environmental challenges.

CONSUMER PERCEPTION AND ETHICS OF AI INFLUENCERS IN BANK BCA’S DIGITAL SECURITY CAMPAIGN

Andry Mochamad Ramdan
Abstract: The rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) introduced Virtual Influencers (VIs) as innovative digital marketing tools, yet their adoption in high-trust sectors like banking presented unique challenges. This study… udy analyzed the potential impact of using VIs on consumer perception and marketing ethics within the context of digital security campaigns. A qualitative-contextual approach was employed, examining Bank Central Asia’s (BCA) “Don’t Know? Kasih No!” (DKKN) campaign as a primary case study. The research explored the implications of replacing a highly credible human figure, Indro Warkop, with a VI. Drawing on Source Credibility, Parasocial Relationship, and Marketing 6.0 theories, the analysis identified an inherent trust deficit in VIs. Results indicated that while the actual DKKN campaign successfully garnered over 100 million views and reduced customer financial losses by 41%, a hypothetical AI-led version would likely trigger consumer skepticism due to a lack of experiential authenticity. Furthermore, an ethical paradox was discovered where mandated AI transparency disclosure triggered skepticism among Gen Z users. It was concluded that for high-stakes financial communication, human influencers remained superior due to their emotional relatability and the "sentience factor" required for cybersecurity advocacy. This paper recommends that banking institutions limit VIs to functional roles rather than high-stakes security literacy.
