EVALUATING GEOGRAPHY BASIC COMPETENCIES IN THE 2013 CURRICULUM IN RELATION TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF STUDENTS’ SPATIAL LITERACY

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the extent to which the Basic Competencies (KD) in Geography in the 2013 Curriculum contribute to strengthening students' spatial literacy. The study used a qualitative descriptive approach with… h content analysis techniques on curriculum documents and source triangulation. The results showed that the Basic Competencies in Geography in grades X, XI, and XII have varying levels of strengthening spatial literacy. Grade X plays a role in building a foundation for spatial understanding related to geosphere phenomena. Grade XI strengthens understanding of spatial interactions through materials on resource distribution, population dynamics, and human-environment relationships. Meanwhile, grade XII is the level with the greatest contribution to spatial literacy through materials on remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), rural-urban spatial patterns, and zoning. Although the structure of the Basic Competencies shows gradual development, it is not entirely consistent in demanding advanced spatial skills, especially at earlier levels. These findings emphasize the importance of strengthening learning strategies and supporting school facilities to maximize the potential of Basic Competencies in building students' spatial literacy.

RAILWAY MODERNIZATION IN INDONESIA: A COMPARATIVE STUDY OF FOUR COUNTRIES AND ITS POLICY IMPLICATIONS

Using a qualitative descriptive-comparative approach grounded in pragmatism, the research emphasizes the policy relevance of global best practices adapted to Indonesia’s context. Lessons from Japan and India highlight network integration, business diversification, and logistics efficiency, while the Philippines and Uzbekistan demonstrate the importance of adaptive governance, technological innovation, and institutional reform in strengthening interregional connectivity. In Indonesia, modernization should integrate the roles of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI), the Directorate General of Railways, and local governments to enhance connectivity, improve logistics efficiency, and promote equitable regional development. These findings provide a conceptual and managerial reference for designing inclusive, adaptive, and equitable national public transport policies.

FLOOD FACTORS AND HANDLING: CASE STUDY OF INDONESIA AND THE PHILIPPINES

Abstract: Flooding is a natural phenomenon that can cause disasters for humans, especially in Indonesia and the Philippines, which often experience significant impacts on the economy, transportation, and social life. This research… aims to analyze the factors that cause flooding in both countries, compare the management policies implemented, and provide recommendations for improved mitigation. The method used is a literature review to collect and analyze various scientific sources. The results show that in Indonesia, factors causing flooding include land subsidence, land use change, and climate change, while in the Philippines, flooding is often triggered by tropical storms and extreme rainfall. Indonesia's response strategy focuses on river normalization and drainage infrastructure, while the Philippines implements a National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan that covers prevention, preparedness, and rehabilitation. Despite these efforts, challenges such as urbanization and land acquisition still hamper the effectiveness of flood management. Recommendations include improving infrastructure, sustainable spatial planning, and community education.

Development and Utilization of the Rammang-Rammang Tourism Area in Maros Regency

Abstract: This study examines the development of the Rammang-Rammang karst landscape in Maros Regency, South Sulawesi, into a prominent ecotourism destination, through an anthropological perspective. Utilizing qualitative methods—including… ��including in-depth interviews, participant observation, and focus group discussions—this research explores how the local community navigates the rapid shift from a traditional agrarian and riverine lifestyle to a tourism-based economy. Anthropological analysis reveals that while ecotourism provides alternative livelihoods and fosters local pride, it also introduces challenges regarding cultural commodification, shifts in communal values, and spatial contestation. The findings indicate that the local community exercises significant agency by integrating their ancestral kinship networks (siri’ na pacce) into modern tourism management. This cultural adaptation serves as a mechanism for community resilience, ensuring that external commercial pressures do not fully erode local identity. This study concludes that sustainable tourism development in heritage sites like Rammang-Rammang depends on recognizing local communities not merely as stakeholders, but as active cultural custodians of the karst landscape

Analisis Kesalahan Siswa Dalam Menentukan Sisi, Rusuk, Dan Titik Sudut Kubus Di SMP Kelas VIII

Abstract: Penelitian ini mengkaji bentuk-bentuk kesalahan beserta faktor penyebabnya yang dialami siswa kelas VIII SMP ketika mengidentifikasi sisi, rusuk, dan titik sudut pada bangun kubus. Desain kualitatif deskriptif dipilih agar… ar respons siswa dapat ditelaah secara mendalam tanpa adanya perlakuan atau manipulasi terhadap variabel penelitian. Sebanyak 30 siswa kelas VIII dijadikan subjek melalui teknik purposive sampling, dan 6 di antaranya dipilih untuk sesi wawancara semi terstruktur yang mewakili tiga tingkat kemampuan akademik, yaitu tinggi, sedang, dan rendah. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui tes diagnostik tertulis, wawancara yang direkam, dan dokumentasi. Analisis data mengacu pada model interaktif Miles dan Huberman yang terdiri atas reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan, dengan triangulasi metode untuk menjaga keterpercayaan temuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 46,67% siswa melakukan setidaknya satu kesalahan dalam mengidentifikasi sisi kubus, 63,33% siswa melakukan kesalahan terkait rusuk, dan 36,67% siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam mengidentifikasi titik sudut secara tepat. Tiga kategori kesalahan yang dominan teridentifikasi, yaitu kesalahan konsep berupa kekeliruan mengidentifikasi unsur geometris, kesalahan visualisasi yang berkaitan dengan kesalahan membaca representasi tiga dimensi, dan kesalahan prosedural dalam menghitung komponen geometris secara sistematis. Faktor penyebab meliputi dimensi internal, terutama lemahnya pemahaman konsep dan rendahnya kemampuan penalaran spasial, serta dimensi eksternal seperti minimnya media pembelajaran dan dominasi strategi mengajar berbasis ceramah. Temuan ini menegaskan perlunya pendekatan pembelajaran geometri bangun ruang yang lebih eksploratif, konstruktivis, dan berbasis media di jenjang SMP. This study investigates the types and underlying causes of errors made by eighth-grade junior high school students when identifying the faces, edges, and vertices of a cube. A qualitative descriptive research design was employed to examine students' responses in depth without manipulating any research variables. Thirty students from the eighth grade were selected through purposive sampling, and six of them participated in semi-structured interview sessions representing three levels of academic ability: high, moderate, and low. Data were gathered using written diagnostic tests, audio-recorded interviews, and documentation. Analysis followed the interactive model proposed by Miles and Huberman, encompassing data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with methodological triangulation applied to ensure the trustworthiness of findings. Results indicated that 46.67% of students committed at least one error in identifying cube faces, 63.33% made errors related to edges, and 36.67% had difficulty identifying vertices correctly. Three dominant error categories were identified: conceptual errors, visualization errors, and procedural errors. Causal factors encompassed internal dimensions, particularly weak conceptual understanding and limited spatial reasoning ability, and external dimensions, including insufficient instructional media and lecture-based teaching strategies.

Aplikasi Sistem Informasi Geografis Untuk Pemetaan Gudang Gambir Berbasis Android Di Kecamatan Koto Xi Tarusan

This lack of information often hinders farmers, consumers, and local authorities in accessing and managing data effectively. The application was developed using ArcGIS technology, Java programming language, and Android Studio. Data collection was conducted through field observation and interviews with warehouse owners. The result of this study is an interactive map-based application that simplifies the process of locating gambier warehouses and presents visual data to support strategic decision-making. This application is expected to enhance distribution efficiency and contribute positively to the economic welfare of the local community.     Keywords: geographic information systems; arcgis; kotlin Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membangun sebuah aplikasi Sistem Informasi Geografis (SIG) berbasis Android yang dapat memetakan lokasi gudang gambir di Kecamatan Koto XI Tarusan, Kabupaten Pesisir Selatan. Latar belakang dari penelitian ini adalah belum tersedianya sistem informasi yang mampu memberikan data spasial dan informasi yang akurat mengenai letak gudang gambir, sehingga menyulitkan petani, konsumen, maupun pihak pemerintah dalam mengakses dan mengelola informasi tersebut. Dalam proses pengembangan aplikasi ini digunakan teknologi ArcGIS, bahasa pemrograman Java, dan Android Studio. Metode pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi langsung dan wawancara dengan pemilik gudang. Hasil dari penelitian ini adalah sebuah aplikasi yang mampu menampilkan peta interaktif lokasi gudang gambir, mempermudah pengguna dalam pencarian informasi lokasi, dan memberikan data visual yang mendukung pengambilan keputusan strategis. Aplikasi ini diharapkan dapat meningkatkan efisiensi distribusi gambir serta memberikan kontribusi positif terhadap peningkatan kesejahteraan masyarakat lokal. Pemanfaatan Teknologi Web Gis Untuk Monitoring Kasus Stunting Di Kabupaten Asahan

Abstract: Abstract: The issue of stunting represents a significant obstacle in public health development efforts, particularly in the Asahan Regency area. Stunting not only affects children’s physical growth but also has implications… tions for intellectual capacity and productivity in the future. This study aims to develop an information system based on a Web Geographic Information System (Web GIS) to monitor the geographic distribution of stunting cases and assist the Asahan Regency Health Office in making data-driven policy decisions. The method applied in this research is a quantitative descriptive approach, encompassing the stages of problem identification, data collection, system requirements analysis, design, implementation, and system evaluation. The research findings show that the developed Web GIS platform successfully displays stunting data by district through interactive digital map representation, facilitates data input and updates by healthcare workers, and provides information accessible to the general public. The system is considered capable of improving the effectiveness and efficiency of stunting case monitoring, while also supporting information transparency and the planning of more targeted intervention programs. With the implementation of this Web GIS, stunting prevention efforts in Asahan Regency can be carried out in a more structured manner and based on accurate spatial data.             Keywords: stunting; geographic information system; monitoring; mapping; asahan regency Abstrak: Permasalahan stunting merupakan hambatan signifikan dalam upaya pengembangan kesehatan publik, terutama di wilayah Kabupaten Asahan. Stunting tidak hanya mempengaruhi aspek pertumbuhan jasmani anak, namun juga berimplikasi pada kemampuan intelektual dan daya produktif di masa mendatang. Studi ini memiliki tujuan untuk membangun sistem informasi yang berbasiskan Web Geographic Information System (Web GIS) dengan maksud memantau distribusi kasus stunting secara geografis dan memfasilitasi Dinas Kesehatan Kabupaten Asahan dalam proses pengambilan kebijakan yang berdasarkan data. Metode yang diterapkan dalam riset ini adalah pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif, meliputi fase identifikasi permasalahan, koleksi data, kajian kebutuhan sistem, perancangan, penerapan, dan penilaian sistem. Temuan penelitian menunjukkan bahwa platform Web GIS yang dikembangkan berhasil menampilkan data stunting per kecamatan melalui representasi peta digital yang interaktif, memfasilitasi proses input dan pemutakhiran data oleh tenaga kesehatan, serta menyediakan informasi yang dapat diakses oleh khalayak umum. Sistem tersebut dianggap mampu meningkatkan keefektifan dan keefisienan dalam monitoring kasus stunting, sekaligus mendukung keterbukaan informasi dan perencanaan program intervensi yang lebih tepat sasaran. Dengan adanya implementasi Web GIS ini, langkah-langkah penanggulangan stunting di Kabupaten Asahan dapat dilaksanakan dengan pendekatan yang lebih terstruktur dan berdasarkan data spasial yang tepat. PEMETAAN LOKASI RAWAN KRIMINALITAS PADA SATRESKRIM POLRES ASAHAN

Abstract: Abstract: One of the very dangerous and unacceptable crimes is called criminality, which is related to the morals of society, is detrimental to society, and violates the law. In this case, the law enforcers, namely the police,… olice, play an essential role in dealing with crimes in society. The crimes that often occur are cases of theft which can be divided into three forms, namely motor vehicle theft (Curanmor), Theft with Weighting (Curat), and Theft with Violence (Curas). As for the Satreskrim Polres Asahan sub-section of Crime and Violence, in this case, they want to provide information to the public about places or locations prone to crime, so an application is made that will help the people in obtaining information about crime-prone areas which can later be used to prevent and monitor these crimes. This study uses a Geographic Information System (GIS), which is part of knowledge based on computer software that is utilized to present information in digital form and analyze the earth's geography to form spatial information. This study aims to apply web-based geographic information in providing information on crime-prone locations in Kisaran City and later to assist the public in obtaining information on crime-prone sites in Kisaran City. The results of this web-based GIS can help and facilitate the community and users in knowing crime-prone locations in the City of Kisaran in knowing crime-prone places or locations at the Asahan Police Criminal Investigation Unit.       Keywords: GIS; criminality; polres asahan; kisaran city  Abstrak: Salah satu tindak kejahatan yang sangat membahayakan dan tidak bisa diterima disebut dengan kriminalitas yang berhubungan dengan moral masyarakat, merugikan masyarakat, dan melanggar hukum. Adapun tindak kejahatan yang sering terjadi berupa kasus pencurian yang dapat dibagi dalam 3 bentuk yaitu pencurian kendaraan bermotor (Curanmor), Pencurian dengan Pemberatan (Curat), dan Pencurian dengan Kekerasan (Curas). Adapun pihak Satreskrim Polres Asahan sub bagian Jatanras dalam hal ini ingin memberikan informasi kepada masyarakat mengenai tempat atau lokasi rawan kriminalitas,  sehingga dibuatlah sebuah aplikasi yang nantinya akan membantu masyarakat dalam mendapatkan informasi mengenai lokasi rawan kriminalitas yang nantinya dapat digunakan dalam mencegah dan memantau tindak kriminalitas tersebut. Penelitian ini menggunakan Sistem Informasi Geografi (SIG) yang merupakan bagian dari pengetahuan berdasarkan pada perangkat lunak komputer yang dimanfaatkan dalam menyajikan informasi dalam bentuk digital dan analisa terhadap geografis bumi sehingga membentuk suatu informasi keruangan. Tujuan penelitian ini menerapkan informasi geografis berbasis web dalam memberikan informasi lokasi-lokasi rawan kriminalitas di Kota Kisaran dan nantinya membantu masyarakat dalam mendapatkan informasi lokasi rawan kriminalitas di Kota Kisaran. Hasil dari SIG berbasis web ini dapat membantu dan memudahkan masyarakat dan user dalam mengetahui titik lokasi rawan kriminalitas di Kota Kisaran dalam mengetahui tempat atau lokasi rawan kriminalitas pada Satreskrim Polres Asahan.   Kata kunci: SIG; kriminalitas; polres kab.asahan; kota kisaran.

Kombinasi Metode AHP dan TOPSIS pada Penentuan Prioritas Proyek Air Bersih Di Kabupaten Asahan

Abstract: Abstract: Most of the area in Asahan Regency is a plantation and coastal area where some of the people work as farmers and fishermen. Coastal areas are still lagging behind because they are far from urban areas so that the… he government pays little attention to it, especially regarding clean water. Clean water in the area can be said to be unfit for use. So that people find it difficult to get clean water for drinking, washing and bathing. These problems can be solved by programs to improve clean water infrastructure and facilities, such as drilling wells and allocating river water, so that they can provide optimal services for clean water, which has a very strong relationship with the economic growth of a region and the socio-cultural life of the community. Determining the priority scale for clean water must look at various criteria so as to produce accurate and precise results. The criteria that are considered in determining the priority of clean water are: Water Condition, Population, Regional Economic Potential, Cost, Level of Interest. To determine the priority of clean water projects at the Public Works and Spatial Planning Office of Asahan Regency, a decision support system is needed that can assist in determining which villages have the right to be prioritized in the priority of clean water projects more effectively and efficiently.   Keywords: Clean water; AHP; TOPSIS; Asahan     Abstrak: Sebagian Besar Wilayah di Kabupaten Asahan merupakan wilayah perkebunan dan pesisir yang sebagian masyarakatnya bekerja sebagai petani dan nelayan. Di wilayah Pesisir masih tertinggal karena letaknya yang jauh dari perkotaan sehingga kurang diperhatikan oleh pemerintah, terutama mengenai air bersih. Air bersih di wilayah tersebut bisa di bilang tidak layak untuk digunakan. Sehingga masyarakat kesulitan untuk mendapatkan air bersih baik itu untuk diminum, menyuci dan mandi. Masalah tersebut dapat diselesaikan dengan program peningkatan prasarana dan sarana air bersih seperti membuat sumur bor dan pengalokasiam air sungai, agar tetap dapat memberikan pelayanan yang optimal terhadap air bersih memiliki keterkaitan yang sangat kuat dengan pertumbuhan ekonomi suatu wilayah maupun sosial budaya kehidupan masyarakat. Penentuan skala prioritas air bersih tersebut harus melihat dari berbagai kriteria sehingga menghasilkan hasil yang akurat dan tepat. Adapun kriteria yang menjadi pertimbangan dalam penentuan prioritas air bersih ialah: Kondisi Air, Jumlah Penduduk, Potensi Ekonomi Daerah, Biaya, Tingkat Kepentingan. Untuk penentuan proyek prioritas air bersih di Dinas Pekerjaan Umum dan Penataan Ruang Kabupaten Asahan maka diperlukan sistem pendukung keputusan yang dapat membantu dalam menentukan desa mana yang berhak didahulukan dalam prioritas proyek air bersih dengan lebih efektif dan efisien.   Kata kunci: Air bersih; AHP; TOPSIS; Asahan

Abstract: The lack of ability to operate advanced mapping technology such as drones creates limitations for village communities in Pemali District, resulting in low community participation and contribution in the planning and management… gement process of village areas. In fact, active community participation is very important to ensure that every development program is in accordance with local needs and conditions to achieve regional development planning as stated in the 2020-2024 RPJMN. For this reason, it is necessary to use drone technology to provide solutions by providing fast and accurate spatial data, as well as improving the technical skills of village communities in mapping and managing areas. Through drone training, it is hoped that village communities can be more independent and actively participate in development planning, as well as opening up new opportunities in the field of technology that can improve their welfare and quality of life. Meanwhile, the method used in community service is in accordance with POAC or Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling. From all the activities and evaluations that have been carried out, the results and conclusions obtained are that training and outreach on the use of drones through community service is considered effective and useful in developing community capabilities and increasing insight into the Pemali sub-district. Keywords: community service; drone; pemali district   Abstrak: Kurangnya kemampuan untuk mengoperasikan teknologi pemetaan canggih seperti drone membuat Keterbatasan Masyarakat desa di Kecamatan Pemali ini menyebabkan rendahnya partisipasi dan kontribusi masyarakat dalam proses perencanaan dan pengelolaan wilayah desa. Padahal, partisipasi aktif masyarakat sangat penting untuk memastikan bahwa setiap program pembangunan sesuai dengan kebutuhan dan kondisi local untuk mencapai perencanaan pembangunan kawasan seperti yang tertera pada RPJMN 2020-2024. Untuk itu perlu peran penggunaan teknologi drone dapat memberikan solusi dengan menyediakan data spasial yang cepat dan akurat, serta meningkatkan keterampilan teknis masyarakat desa dalam pemetaan dan pengelolaan wilayah. Melalui pelatihan drone, masyarakat desa diharapkan dapat lebih mandiri dan berpartisipasi aktif dalam perencanaan pembangunan, serta membuka peluang baru dalam bidang teknologi yang dapat meningkatkan kesejahteraan dan kualitas hidup mereka. Adapun, untuk metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian masayarakat ini sendiri sesuai dengan POAC atau Planning, Organizing, Actuating, Controlling. Dari keseluruhan kegiatan dan evaluasi yang telah dilakukan, diperoleh hasil dan kesimpulan bahwa pelatihan serta sosialisasi penggunaan drone melalui pengabdian masayarakat ini diniai efektif dan bermanfaat dalam mengembangkan kemampuan masyarakat dan menambah wawasan pada kecamatan pemali.
