e authentic assessment offers various advantages that should not be taken for granted. This study aimed at investigating, 1) the assessment practice in the classroom, 2) the effectiveness of authentic assessment practice for assessing writing skill, and 3) the challenges of the practice. This study was a descriptive case study. The population of the study encompassed 31 learners in grade-5 elementary school. The instruments used for collecting the data were field notes yielded from classroom observation, transcript interview, and related documents. The result of the study performed that (1) the teacher employs several types of assessment, yet authentic assessment is the most preferrable in the practice, (2) the authentic assessment practice in the classroom is effectively depicting learners’ actual competence, comprising real-world relevance, and encouraging evaluation, and (3) the teacher encounters the challenging experience in designing acceptable assessment for learners with diverse level of English competence and the sufficient time, as well. In summary, this study has torched a light on the practice of authentic assessment in originally realizing the function of assessment. The different school setting, teaching experiences, learners’ language proficiency skills, and classroom environment might bring about a distinct result.

ys a qualitative descriptive approach with a sample of 15 students selected based on high, medium, and low ability categories. Data were collected through essay tests and analyzed using Newman's Error Analysis, which consists of five stages of errors: reading, understanding, transformation, process skills, and writing the final answer. The analysis results indicate that the highest incidence of errors occurred in the understanding stage and process skills stage, each accounting for 36%. Transformation errors accounted for 21.33%, while reading and final answer writing errors were in the very low category, each at 9.33%. These findings indicate that students still face difficulties in understanding basic concepts and technical steps in geometric transformations. Based on these results, it is recommended that teachers implement systematic learning strategies such as Learning Therapy, emphasizing the understanding of prerequisite concepts, writing down known and asked information, and developing the habit of structuring and evaluating solution steps systematically to minimize similar errors in the future.

The study took place at SMA TA’MIRIYAH Surabaya. The school carried out Controlled Speaking Practices in conversation class in the first grade of senior high school students. Qualitative descriptive approach and observation were applied in this study. The writer used recording and field notes as the techniques in conducting observation. The writer analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of controlled speaking practice which were according to three aspects: the result of practicing the task, how the teacher conducted the task, and the way students’ talk in the class. From the data analysis, Controlled Speaking Practices also can indicate that this is the right technique to improve the students’ speaking skill. The researcher concluded that Controlled Speaking Practices might be a tool of practice speaking English which can assist the students to achieve good speaking English.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan pentingnya pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis HOTS pada materi segitiga dan lingkaran di sekolah dasar. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi literatur dengan menganalisis berbagai sumber terkait pembelajaran matematika, HOTS, serta perangkat pembelajaran. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa perangkat pembelajaran berbasis HOTS yang meliputi RPP, LKPD, media, dan instrumen penilaian dapat mendorong siswa untuk berpikir aktif melalui kegiatan analisis, evaluasi, dan pemecahan masalah. Pada materi segitiga dan lingkaran, penggunaan pendekatan kontekstual, media konkret, serta strategi pembelajaran inovatif seperti pembelajaran kooperatif dan multisensori terbukti dapat membantu siswa memahami konsep secara lebih mendalam. Dengan demikian, pengembangan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis HOTS pada materi segitiga dan lingkaran di sekolah dasar dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kreatif, penalaran matematis, serta keterlibatan siswa dalam proses pembelajaran. Oleh karena itu, guru perlu merancang perangkat pembelajaran yang inovatif dan berorientasi HOTS agar tujuan pembelajaran matematika dapat tercapai secara optimal.
