PENGUATAN TATA KELOLA SAMPAH KERING MELALUI DIGITALISASI BANK SAMPAH BERBASIS BUMDES DI DESA SIDOWUNGU KABUPATEN GRESIK

Abstract: Pengelolaan sampah di Desa Sidowungu, Kecamatan Menganti, Kabupaten Gresik masih menghadapi permasalahan berupa rendahnya pemilahan sampah dari sumber, pencatatan transaksi yang dilakukan secara manual, keterbatasan data,… , serta kurangnya transparansi nilai ekonomi sampah bagi masyarakat. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan memperkuat tata kelola sampah kering melalui penerapan Bank Sampah Digital berbasis web yang dikelola oleh Badan Usaha Milik Desa (BUMDes). Pelaksanaan kegiatan menggunakan pendekatan community development melalui tahapan observasi dan identifikasi kebutuhan, koordinasi dengan mitra, pengembangan sistem, sosialisasi, pelatihan, uji coba, pendampingan, serta evaluasi. Subjek kegiatan meliputi pengelola BUMDes, pemerintah desa, kader PKK, dan sekitar 150 kepala keluarga pada fase implementasi awal. Program menghasilkan platform digital yang mendukung pengelolaan data nasabah, kategori dan harga sampah, pencatatan hasil penimbangan, perhitungan nilai transaksi, saldo tabungan, riwayat setoran, stok, dan pelaporan. Implementasi sistem membantu pengelola BUMDes melakukan pencatatan transaksi secara lebih terstruktur, mempercepat penghitungan nilai setoran, serta meningkatkan keterlacakan dan transparansi informasi bagi nasabah. Kegiatan pelatihan dan pendampingan juga meningkatkan kemampuan awal pengelola dalam mengoperasikan sistem serta mendorong keterlibatan kader PKK dalam edukasi pemilahan sampah kepada masyarakat. Meskipun demikian, keberlanjutan program masih memerlukan penguatan kapasitas operator, konsistensi partisipasi warga, pemeliharaan sistem, kemitraan dengan pengepul, dan pengukuran dampak secara berkala. Program Smart Waste Village memberikan fondasi awal bagi pengelolaan sampah berbasis data, pemberdayaan masyarakat, penguatan peran BUMDes, dan pengembangan ekonomi sirkular di tingkat desa secara berkelanjutan.

Green Accounting Practices and Environmental Awareness in Supporting Hospital Sustainability: A Qualitative Study at RSK X in East Java

Abstract: Hospital operations provide healthcare services while generating environmental impacts through medical waste, hazardous and toxic waste, wastewater, and the consumption of energy, water, and other resources. These impacts… s require hospitals to adopt environmental management practices that extend beyond regulatory compliance and strengthen environmental awareness. This study aims to analyze the role of green accounting in fostering environmental awareness and supporting organizational sustainability at a specialized hospital (RSK X) in East Java, Indonesia. The study employed a qualitative approach within an interpretive paradigm using a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation involving informants engaged in environmental management and hospital operations. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing, and thematic analysis using NVivo 14 Pro. The findings indicate that green accounting practices at RSK X are reflected in medical and hazardous waste management, wastewater treatment plant operations, environmental monitoring, resource efficiency, environmental reporting, and environmental cost recording. These practices function not only as mechanisms for administrative compliance and cost control but also as instruments for fostering employees' environmental awareness through socialization, monitoring, habituation, and behavioral change. Green accounting implementation is supported by management commitment, government regulations, accreditation requirements, and organizational culture. However, constraints remain, particularly the absence of a dedicated green accounting report, limited integration of environmental information into the hospital information system, and varying employee understanding of green accounting. The study concludes that green accounting serves managerial and behavioral functions by improving environmental accountability, strengthening environmental awareness, and contributing to hospital sustainability.

Circular Process Innovation for Sustainable Operations: A Review of TQM and Green Intelligence

Abstract: This study systematically reviews the development of Total Quality Management (TQM) practices in relation to Green Quality Intelligence Capabilities (GQIC), Circular Process Innovation (CPI), and Sustainable Operational… Performance (SOP). Responding to the need for a clearer review method and a more focused novelty, this article applies the PRISMA 2020-based Systematic Literature Review approach. Articles were identified from the Scopus database using keyword combinations related to TQM, quality management practices, green capability, green innovation, circular economy, circular process innovation, Industry 4.0, Quality 4.0, and sustainability performance. After identification, screening, eligibility assessment, and quality appraisal, 27 articles published between 2016 and 2026 were included in the final synthesis. The findings show that TQM literature has shifted from traditional quality control and customer satisfaction toward digital, green, and sustainability-oriented quality management. Soft TQM dimensions, such as leadership, employee involvement, training, and quality culture, and hard TQM dimensions, such as process management, quality tools, continuous improvement, and data-based decision making, remain dominant. However, prior studies still frequently use general mediators, including knowledge management, organizational culture, innovation capability, and competitive advantage. This review proposes CPI as a more specific mediation mechanism that translates TQM and GQIC into sustainable operational outcomes through waste reduction, resource efficiency, material reuse, energy efficiency, and circular process redesign. The study contributes by offering an integrated conceptual model and propositions for future empirical research on quality management, green intelligence, circular innovation, and sustainable operations.

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY THROUGH COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT: TRANSFORMING SPENT COFFEE GROUNDS INTO AROMATHERAPY CANDLES AND ROOM FRESHENERS IN JINGKANG VILLAGE

Abstract: Spent coffee grounds are one of the organic wastes that remain underutilized despite their significant potential to be transformed into value-added products. This community service program aimed to enhance the knowledge&#8230; and practical skills of the residents of Jingkang Village in converting spent coffee grounds into aromatherapy candles and air fresheners based on the principles of the circular economy. The program employed a Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach consisting of problem identification, program planning, training implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and reflection. The activity involved 15 participants, including community members, micro-enterprise actors, and women's community groups. Program effectiveness was evaluated using pre-test and post-test assessments and analysed through a Paired Sample t-test. The results demonstrated that the average participant score increased from 46.70 to 86.00, representing an 84.15% improvement. Statistical analysis confirmed a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores (p < 0.001). Furthermore, all program success indicators were achieved, including a 100% attendance rate, 100% participant competency in producing the products, a participant satisfaction level of 93.30%, and all products meeting usability standards. The novelty of this program lies in integrating the Participatory Action Research (PAR) approach, circular economy principles, and quantitative statistical evaluation into a community empowerment model utilizing spent coffee grounds as value-added products. This model has strong potential to be replicated in other coffee-producing communities to promote sustainable waste management and local economic development.

ENVIRONMENTAL ETHICS AND SOCIAL PRACTICES OF WASTE MANAGEMENT: A STUDY IN KENDARI CITY

Abstract: Waste management has become one of the most persistent environmental challenges confronting rapidly growing urban areas in Indonesia. While previous studies have primarily explained waste management through technical infrastructure,&#8230; rastructure, environmental awareness, or public policy, relatively little attention has been given to the interaction between environmental ethics and everyday social practices in shaping environmental behaviour. This study aims to examine how environmental ethics are translated into community waste management practices in Kendari City from the perspective of environmental sociology. A qualitative case study approach was employed using field observations, semi-structured interviews with 30 informants representing community members, religious leaders, community leaders, sanitation workers, and officials from the Kendari City Environmental Agency, as well as document analysis. The data were analysed using thematic analysis and interpreted through the analytical perspectives of Environmental Sociology, Social Practice Theory, Public Sphere Theory, and Political Ecology. The findings reveal that environmental ethics constitute an important normative foundation for environmental responsibility; however, their implementation in everyday waste management practices is mediated by socially embedded habitus, community values, institutional capacity, public discourse, and local governance. Waste management behaviour is therefore shaped not only by individual awareness but also by continuous interactions among social norms, institutional arrangements, and collective practices. The study concludes that sustainable urban waste management requires integrated approaches combining environmental ethics, community participation, participatory governance, and institutional collaboration. By integrating environmental ethics with environmental sociology, this study contributes to a broader understanding of the social dimensions of urban waste management and offers practical insights for strengthening community-based environmental governance in Indonesia.

ANALYSIS OF PLASTIC WASTE MANAGEMENT AND ITS IMPLICATIONS FOR COMMUNITY ECONOMIC ACTIVITIES IN THE MARDIKA MARKET AREA, AMBON CITY

Abstract: Plastic waste is an environmental problem that continues to increase along with the development of community economic activities, especially in traditional market areas. Mardika Market, Ambon City, as a center of trade and&#8230; nd community economic activities, produces a fairly high volume of plastic waste, requiring effective and sustainable management. This study aims to analyze plastic waste management and its implications for community economic activities in the Mardika Market area of ​​Ambon City. The study used a qualitative descriptive method with a literature study and document analysis approach. Data were obtained from publications from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), the National Waste Management Information System (SIPSN), scientific journals, government reports, and various relevant documents. Data analysis was carried out through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study indicate that plastic waste management in the Mardika Market area still faces various challenges, including the high use of single-use plastics, limited community participation, and the suboptimal implementation of the Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle (3R) principles. These conditions have implications for the cleanliness and comfort of the market environment, which can affect community economic activities, especially visitor comfort and trading activities. Therefore, synergy between the government, traders, and the community is needed to improve the effectiveness of plastic waste management to support the creation of a clean, comfortable, and productive market environment.

Community Economic Empowerment through Waste Bank Initiatives: A Case Study of the Berseri Waste Bank in Bengkalis Regency, Indonesia

Abstract: The global paradigm shift in waste governance towards a circular economy has driven the adoption of Community-Based Solid Waste Management (CBSWM), widely manifested in Indonesia through the Waste Bank initiative. Although&#8230; gh theoretically designed as an ecological mitigation instrument and a catalyst for economic empowerment, previous literature remains dominated by techno-ecological and urban biases. These studies often overlook the structural dynamics of community empowerment in areas lacking established recycling infrastructure. This study aims to fill this gap by investigating the economic empowerment mechanisms and institutional resilience of the Berseri Waste Bank in Bengkalis Regency, a coastal-island area facing logistical disruption constraints. This study employed a qualitative approach with a case study design, involving 10 multi-actor informants (government, managers, customers, and community leaders) selected through purposive and snowball sampling. Data were collected via in-depth interviews, observations, and document reviews, with data credibility ensured through source and method triangulation. The results reveal four main findings: (1) increased environmental awareness that reduces open burning practices; (2) increased real household income; (3) the emergence of micro-scale circular logistics practices; and (4) community participation heavily driven by social capital (trust and local leadership). Theoretically, this study extends the application of circular economy theory by proving its viability at the micro-community level in geographically isolated regions. As a practical implication, this study recommends that local governments formally recognize waste banks as legitimate circular economy entities and provide policy interventions in the form of coastal transportation logistics subsidies

Analysis of Innovation in Public Transport Services Management Based on Plastic Waste in Support of The SDGS

Abstract: This study examines the innovation of public transport service management through a platic waste-based payment in the Trans Semanggi Suroboyo (TSS) service in Surabaya City. The study aims to analyse the effectiveness of&#8230; this innovation in supporting sustainable urban transport development, particularly in relation to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 11. A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, using secondary data collected from scientific literature, official reports, and regulatory documents. The analysis was conducted using George C. Edward III’s policy implementation framework, focusing on communication, resources, disposition, and bureaucratic structure. The finding indicate that this innovation contributes positively to environmental management and promotes public participation in waste reduction while improving transport accessibility. However, its implementation faces several challenges, including limited fleet availability, inadequate infrastructure, fragmented communication, and key to integrity between payment system. These constraints affect service efficiency and user satisfaction. Therefore, strengthening policy coordination, improving infrastructure, enhancing human resource capacity, and optimizing public communication are necessary to support the sustainability and effectiveness of this innovation. This study highlights that integrated and adaptive public transport innovations are essential in achieving inclusive, efficient, and sustainable urban mobility in line with SDGs 11.

Green Accounting as a Risk Mitigation Measure Ecology in The Biopharma Industry (Study at PT Daewoong Infion)

Abstract: This study aims to analyze the application of green accounting in hazardous waste management and its role in mitigating ecological risks in the biopharma industry, with a case study at PT Daewoong Infion. The background&#8230; of the study is driven by the increasing risk of environmental and health pollution due to hazardous waste generated by the biopharmaceutical production process, as well as the limitations of conventional accounting systems in capturing ecological costs and impacts. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study design, through primary data collection in the form of in-depth interviews with key informants and field observations, as well as secondary data from company documents and related regulations. Data analysis was conducted descriptively and interpretively to identify green accounting practices, environmental cost components, and ecological risk mitigation mechanisms. The results show that PT Daewoong Infion has implemented green accounting through the recognition and recording of hazardous waste management costs, pollution control, and environmental disclosure, which contributes to increased regulatory compliance, waste management efficiency, and ecological risk reduction. In addition, these practices strengthen the company's legitimacy and meet stakeholder expectations, in line with legitimacy theory and stakeholder theory. This study concludes that green accounting serves as an effective managerial and reporting instrument in integrating economic objectives and ecological responsibility, thereby supporting the operational sustainability of the biopharma industry. These findings recommend strengthening environmental cost measurement systems and reporting transparency to enhance sustainable ecological risk mitigation.

Optimization of Teak Wood Raw Material Inventory Using The EOQ Method at UD Gemilang, Gunungsitoli City

Abstract: This study highlights the problem of managing teak wood raw materials in the form of boards at UD Gemilang, Gunungsitoli City. The company often experiences shortages or excess inventory due to a conventional ordering system&#8230; stem that is not based on optimal demand calculations. This inefficiency causes wasteful costs and disrupts the smooth production process. The main objective of this study is to analyze current inventory management and apply the EOQ (Economic Order Quantity) method to determine the optimal order quantity, as well as evaluate its impact on cost efficiency and production operations. The EOQ method is expected to be a systematic and rational solution for managing inventory more efficiently. This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach. Data were collected through direct interviews with business owners and documentation of raw material purchasing and usage reports for 2024. The analysis was conducted using the EOQ formula to calculate the optimal order quantity, ordering costs, storage costs, safety stock, reorder point, and total inventory cost (TIC). The analysis results show that the optimal order quantity for teak wood raw materials is 282 boards, with an ordering frequency of 6 times a year. This number is more efficient than the actual ordering system which is carried out monthly without a fixed calculation. The recommended safety stock is 22 boards, with a Reorder Point (ROP) of 36 boards. The implementation of the EOQ method successfully reduced total inventory costs from Rp6,768,000 to Rp3,496,800.
