LEADERSHIP AND WORK-LIFE AS DRIVING FACTORS FOR EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT AND PERFORMANCE

Ohoiwutun, Stanislaus Kostka, Rahawarin, Mohamad Arsad
Abstract: This study examines how leadership and work-life balance influence employee performance directly and indirectly through employee engagement at the Fisheries Service of Central Maluku Regency. A descriptive quantitative,… causal-correlational design was applied to the entire population of 49 employees using total sampling. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, path analysis, and Sobel tests to estimate direct, indirect, and mediating effects. The findings show that leadership significantly affects employee engagement (beta = 0.582; p < 0.001), while work-life balance also has a significant, although smaller, effect on engagement (beta = 0.129; p = 0.005). Employee engagement strongly affects performance (beta = 0.942; p < 0.001). In contrast, the direct effects of leadership (beta = 0.034; p = 0.613) and work-life balance (beta = -0.008; p = 0.756) on performance are not significant. Sobel testing confirms that employee engagement mediates the effect of leadership on performance (p = 0.00015) and the effect of work-life balance on performance (p = 0.03). The model explains 92.4% of the variance in performance. The study's novelty lies in demonstrating, within a local public-sector context, that leadership and work-life balance improve performance primarily by strengthening employee engagement rather than through direct effects. These findings imply that public organizations should prioritize engagement-oriented leadership and work-life policies to achieve sustainable employee performance.

STRATEGY FOR DEVELOPING THE EMPOWERMENT AND WELL-BEING OF WOMEN SEAFOOD PROCESSORS THROUGH THE SYNERGY OF RELIGIOSITY AND SOCIAL FACTORS

Hayati, Feb Amni, Fajarini, Ulfa, Maman, U.
Abstract: Women engaged in marine product processing play a crucial role in the national fisheries value chain, yet this strategic contribution has not been matched with formal recognition, access to resources, or decent welfare levels.… evels. This study aims to analyze the influence of religiosity and social factors on the empowerment and welfare of marine product processing women at the National Fisheries Port (PPN) Karangantu, Serang City, Banten, as well as to formulate a development strategy based on the synergy of these two factors. This research employs a mixed-methods approach with a sequential explanatory design, combining quantitative methods through PLS-SEM analysis on 235 respondents, and qualitative methods through in-depth interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGD). The results show that religiosity and social factors have a positive and significant effect on women’s empowerment, which in turn impacts welfare improvement across economic, social, and psychological dimensions. Findings also reveal that religious values which currently focus mainly on ritual aspects, alongside patriarchal social norms, serve as key barriers; meanwhile, community support and the integration of religious values into economic activities act as major reinforcing factors. Based on SWOT analysis, this study proposes strategies for strengthening local value-based institutions, integrating empowerment programs with religious activities, and advocating for policies that support coastal women. This research contributes new insights by presenting an integrated model of religiosity and social dimensions in the empowerment of women in the fisheries sector, an area that has not been widely explored in previous studies.

The Influence of Agricultural, Manufacturing, and Mining Sector Output on Aceh's GRDP Growth

Mulki, Akhyarul, Azra, Uliya, Hajar, Ibnu
Abstract: The economic structure of Aceh Province is still dominated by the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries sectors, while the contribution of the manufacturing industry sector is relatively lagging. This condition indicates… that the structural transformation process in Aceh has not yet taken place optimally, so that the economic growth that occurs tends to be quantitative, marked by an increase in aggregate output, but does not fully reflect an increase in the quality of the economic structure. This study aims to analyze the influence of the agriculture, manufacturing industry, and mining sectors on the growth of the Regional Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of Aceh Province. The approach used is quantitative with secondary data sources from the BPS of Aceh Province. This study uses panel data which is a combination of cross-regional data and time series data from 2019 to 2023. The results of the study indicate, first; the agricultural sector has a positive effect on GRDP. This is based on the probability value of the agricultural sector variable, which is 0.002. This value is smaller than 0.05. Second; the industrial sector has no effect on GRDP. This is based on the probability value of the industrial sector variable, which is 0.610. This value is greater than 0.05. Third; the mining sector has a positive effect on GRDP. This is based on the probability value of the mining sector variable, which is 0.001. Fourth; The agricultural, industrial and mining sectors have a joint influence on the dependent variable, namely GRDP in Aceh Province

Zebua, Masnia, Buulolo, Nanny Artatina, Gulo, Heniwati, Zebua, Serniati
Abstract: The purpose of this study is to analyze, partially and simultaneously, the influence of seasonal cycles and fish price fluctuations on the financial literacy of fishermen in Sifalaete Ulu Village. Partially, this study aims… ims to determine the effect of seasonal cycles on fishermen's financial literacy, as well as the effect of fish price fluctuations on fishermen's financial literacy. Simultaneously, this study aims to determine the effect of both variables together on fishermen's financial literacy. This study used a quantitative approach with data collected through questionnaires from 57 active fishermen. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression to test the partial and simultaneous effects. The results show that partially, seasonal cycles have a negative and significant effect on fishermen's financial literacy, while fish price fluctuations have a positive and significant effect on fishermen's financial literacy. Simultaneously, seasonal cycles and fish price fluctuations have a significant effect on fishermen's financial literacy. Income uncertainty due to these two factors causes fishermen to experience difficulties in financial planning, lack savings or emergency funds, and tend to rely on debt. In addition, low levels of education and minimal financial literacy training also hinder effective financial management

Fauzan, Muhammad, Ariyandani, Nur
Abstract: The study aims to explore the logistics distribution perspective in the fisheries sector of West Sulawesi. It focuses on supporting the region's readiness as a supporting area for the new National Capital (IKN) by examining… ing government policies, infrastructure readiness, and supply chain management in the fisheries sector. The research employs a qualitative approach using a literature review combined with observation and interviews with key stakeholders in the fisheries sector. The study includes a feasibility analysis and utilizes a SOAR (Strengths, Opportunities, Aspirations, Results) analysis to develop strategic recommendations for logistics and infrastructure improvements. The findings reveal that West Sulawesi has significant potential to support IKN through its fisheries sector, given its strategic location and existing infrastructure. However, challenges such as limited cold storage facilities, infrastructure readiness, and supply chain coordination need addressing. The government’s draft Presidential Regulation (RPerpres) outlines a plan for port development and cold storage expansion to improve logistics. The study also suggests that collaboration with the private sector and technological adoption could enhance distribution efficiency and product quality. The research contributes to logistics and supply chain literature by addressing the specific challenges and opportunities in the fisheries sector of a developing region like West Sulawesi. It provides an original perspective on how regional policies and infrastructure development can support national capital projects and meet food supply demands while promoting sustainable practices in the fisheries industry
