Yarmaliza, Yarmaliza, Nih Farisni, Teungku, Fitriani, Fitriani, Zakiyuddin, Zakiyuddin, Reynaldi, Fitrah, Nella Syahputri, Veni
Abstract: This research uses Pre-Experimental Design without control group with One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The study was conducted in March 2021 in two districts that were confirmed to be inhabited by COVID-19 positive residents… idents (Johan Pahlawan District and Meureubo District), West Aceh, Indonesia. Statistical analysis used: Hand-washing is one way to prevent COVID-19 transmission. This is essential because in this global pandemic, every community has the opportunity to catch COVID 19. The research objective was to determine the effectiveness of WASH educational collaboration on farmers as an attempt to COVID-19 prevention. The population in the study is all farmers who live in these mentioned districts. There were 37 farmers in total. The sampling method used total sampling, namely 37 farmers who live in the areas that are confirmed to have positive patients of COVID 19. Data were analyzed using Univariate, Bivariate (Dependent T-test) and Multivariate with using logistic regression. The result shows that there is a significant influence between the collaboration of WASH Education on farmers as an effort to prevent COVID-19 with a statistical test value of P-Value <0.05. Collaboration on WASH education for farmers is very influential in preventing COVID-19. It is hoped that cross-sectoral involvement and roles can be maintained so that COVID 19 prevention behavior through WASH can continue to be applied. Educative collaboration of WASH impacts on the behaviour alteration toward farmers who live in the area confirmed to be infected by COVID 19.

Study of Local Business Development Model Based on Tempe Innovation Towards Food Security of Coastal Family Areas During the Covid-19 Pandemic

Yarmaliza, Yarmaliza, Nih Farisni, Teungku, Fitriani, Fitriani, Reynaldi, Fitrah, Zakiyuddin, Zakiyuddin, Nella Syahputri, Veni
Abstract: The rapid spread of the COVID-19 pandemic has an impact on the world economy, including in the food and agricultural sectors. A 1% decline in China's economic growth in 2020 could have an impact of around 0.3% on the economy… nomy in Indonesia, and Aceh is no exception. Therefore, the creative economy stimulus is one of the most appropriate alternatives in overcoming the community's economic problems, by utilizing local commodities through innovation of tempeh powder broth as family food security in Purwodadi Village, Nagan Raya Regency. The purpose of this activity is to provide the importance of creative economic education for coastal communities, especially for poor families towards family food security during the COVID 19 pandemic. The method in this activity uses the FGD (Focus Group Discussion) approach and the PALS (Participatory Action Learning System) method. FGD is a process involving participants (local government, MSME actors and the community) where they exchange messages in a dialogical manner within the framework of a common understanding of the social situation. The results obtained in this activity are the existence of a local business development model based on tempeh innovation that can foster a spirit of independence to form Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in coastal communities towards family food security during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Role Of Mothers As Agents Of Enculpturation Of Masculinity In Boys Of Nias Ethnicity In Tegal Sari Mandala II Village, Medan Denai District

Jefrin Milhham Hia, Rosramadhana
Abstract: This study aims to determine the role of mothers as agents of masculinity enculturation for Nias ethnic boys. This study uses a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach, data collected through participatory observation,… vation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of Nias ethnic mothers and boys. The results show that the role of mothers as agents of masculinity enculturation in Nias ethnic boys in Tegal Sari Mandala II Village emphasizes the instilling of masculine values through daily care that is appropriate to the context of urban life. Mothers instill the value of courage by accustoming children to dare to speak, appear, and defend the truth, while building strength through emotional control and assertiveness to be able to face pressure, develop resilience through independence, discipline, and adaptability, and teach leadership through responsibility, decision-making, and the application of traditional leadership values such as si'ulu and si'ila. The main challenges faced by mothers include the stubbornness of children, the limited role without a husband figure for single parents, and the negative influence of social media and diverse urban environments. Mothers make various efforts to overcome these obstacles by implementing a firm but loving parenting style, providing motivation when children experience failure, and involving other male family members such as uncles or church members to provide advice. The implementation of traditional Nias ethnic masculinity values is still attempted through oral narratives, the use of digital technology to demonstrate the Fahombo (Stone Jumping) tradition, and the involvement of boys to attend and witness various Nias ethnic traditions in urban areas to maintain their ethnic identity amidst modernity

From Coast To Hinterlands: The Spread Of Islam In Sumatra

Geryl Valeri Evans, Doan Juan Panjaitan, Gabriel Siburian, Levirisky Siahaan, Muhammad Nur Hidayat, Pristi Suhendro Lukitoyo
Abstract: The spread of Islam on Sumatra Island originated in coastal regions before expanding into the hinterlands. Utilizing a historical approach, this study reveals that maritime trade routes served as the gateway for traders… and missionaries from Arabia, Persia, and Gujarat to engage in commerce and dawah across Sumatra. Islam initially flourished in Barus, Samudera Pasai, and Aceh before eventually expanding into the interior through river networks, intermarriage, and the political influence of the sultanates. The findings of this study indicate that the process of Islamization in Sumatra was not uniform; in coastal areas, Islam tended to be more Cosmopolitan, whereas in the interior, cultural acculturation with local traditions occurred. The success of this expansion marked the starting point of a religious transformation across the Indonesian archipelago

Analysis of Extreme Weather Causes of Flooding in Manado North Sulawesi

Ni Luh Made Anik Evaria, Rafa Zafirah Istiqomah
Abstract: On January 27 and 28 2023, Manado City was hit by heavy rain which caused several areas to experience significant flooding. The high intensity of rain during that period reached extreme levels, resulting in the inundation… n of several areas and submerging hundreds of residents' houses in 22 villages or sub-districts and 7 sub-districts in Manado. In studying this event, this research investigates the factors that influence extreme weather in Manado, observing sea surface temperature data, streamlines, air observations, the Southern Oscillation Index (SOI), and the Indian Ocean Dipole (IOD). The analysis shows that the positive SOI and negative IOD phenomena significantly impact extreme weather in the region. Cumulonimbus (Cb) clouds drove the atmospheric conditions formed on January 27 and 28 2023 and air flows from the Indian Ocean which brought wet air masses into Indonesian territory. High sea surface temperatures, reaching 28-29°C, also play a role in the intensive growth of rain clouds. Based on atmospheric conditions seen from radiosonde observation data, the stability index value shows that unstable conditions trigger heavy rain which causes flooding
