SPIRITUAL INTELLIGENCE AND NURSES’ CARING BEHAVIOR IN AN INPATIENT WARD: A CROSS-SECTIONAL STUDY IN INDONESIA

Fiska, Mona Anggia, Oktizulvia, Conny, Yendrial, Vania Aresti
Abstract: Caring behavior is a fundamental value and the core of professional nursing practice that directly contributes to the quality of patient care and recovery. One of the internal factors associated with caring behavior is spiritual… piritual intelligence, which enables nurses to find meaning and purpose in the care they provide. However, evidence suggests that both nurses' caring behavior and spiritual intelligence still need improvement. This study aimed to examine the relationship between spiritual intelligence and nurses' caring behavior in inpatient wards. This study employed a quantitative analytical correlational design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 53 nurses were recruited using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using the Spiritual Intelligence Self-Report Inventory (SISRI-24) and the Caring Behavior Inventory (CBI). Data were analyzed using the Chi-square test with a significance level of p < 0.05. The findings revealed that less than half of the respondents (47.2%) had low spiritual intelligence, while more than half (54.7%) demonstrated poor caring behavior. Statistical analysis showed a significant relationship between spiritual intelligence and nurses' caring behavior (p = 0.001). Nurses with higher levels of spiritual intelligence tended to demonstrate better caring behavior than those with lower levels of spiritual intelligence. Hospital management is encouraged to consider nurses' spiritual intelligence as an important aspect in efforts to enhance caring behavior and improve the overall quality of nursing services.

STRENGTHENING PATIENTS' MENTAL AND SPIRITUAL HEALTH THROUGH ISLAMIC GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING SERVICES AT THE PADANGSI DIMPUAN INDONESIAN NATIONAL ARMED FORCES HOSPITAL

Pulungan, Della Sagita, Hasibuan, Rahmayani, Nasution, Mei Liana Sani, Nahrowi, Ahmad, Alfansuri, Hafiz
Abstract: Mental and spiritual health are crucial aspects of the patient's recovery process in hospitals. In addition to medical treatment, patients also require psychological and spiritual support to help them cope with the various… us challenges that arise from their illness. This article aims to describe the implementation of Islamic Guidance and Counseling services to strengthen the mental and spiritual health of patients at Padangsidimpuan Indonesian National Armed Forces Hospital. Services provided include spiritual guidance, religious motivation, prayer guidance, individual counseling, and emotional support for patients and their families. Through an Islamic approach, counselors strive to help patients increase their patience, sincerity, optimism, and inner peace in facing their illness and treatment. The results of the service implementation indicate that Islamic Guidance and Counseling contribute positively to patients' psychological and spiritual well-being. Patients who receive support tend to have a better zest for life, lower anxiety levels, and a stronger ability to accept and cope with their health conditions. Furthermore, spiritual guidance activities also help patients maintain their religious practices during treatment, providing a sense of comfort and increasing hope for recovery. The presence of Islamic Guidance and Counseling services in hospitals not only complements existing healthcare services but also plays a crucial role in achieving holistic and humane care. Therefore, strengthening these services requires continued development to optimally support patients' mental and spiritual well-being and improve the overall quality of healthcare.

Holilah, Siti, Pranowo, Agus Setyo, Herdiyana
Abstract: This study aims to analyze the influence of customer experience and electronic word of mouth (e-WOM) on brand image and their impact on patient revisit intention at dental clinics in Bogor City. The study was motivated by… y the increasingly competitive dental service industry, the growing role of digital reviews, and the need to strengthen patient retention in dental healthcare services. A quantitative explanatory approach was employed using an online survey of 200 patients who had visited dental clinics in Bogor City at least once. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and Structural Equation Modelling with LISREL 8.80. The results show that customer experience has a positive and significant effect on brand image and patient revisit intention. e-WOM also has a positive and significant effect on brand image and revisit intention. Furthermore, brand image positively affects revisit intention and partially mediates the relationship between customer experience and e-WOM on revisit intention. These findings indicate that dental clinics should integrate service experience management, credible digital reputation, and consistent brand image development to increase patient retention.

The Effect of Patient Wait Time Efficiency on Patient Satisfaction Level

Zuya, Caesaria Sinta, Paramarta, Vip
Abstract: Patient satisfaction is a key indicator of health service quality and is closely related to loyalty, intention to repeat visit, and institutional reputation 1. Waiting time reflects the efficiency of the process and the… responsiveness of services at the stages of registration, administration, and consultation which have a direct impact on the perception of quality and satisfaction 2. Literature review shows a consistent pattern: long wait times decrease satisfaction, while short, predictable wait times increase satisfaction, especially in outpatient services that have higher expectations of timeliness 3. Waiting longer than 60 minutes is associated with a significant decrease in satisfaction scores, making the management of wait time duration and variability crucial. Determining factors include queue design, health worker capacity, administrative complexity, and timeliness of doctors; Meanwhile, digital solutions (e.g. Mobile JKN) speed up the pre-visit and visit process and related to a 5.6 reduction in waiting time. This review summarizes the findings of 2015–2024, maps the determinants and mechanisms of the relationship between wait time and satisfaction, and offers managerial strategies for healthcare facilities in Indonesia and internationally 7

Development of an Integrated Hybrid (Manual-Digital) Electronic Medical Record System at Damai Clinic

Rina Rohhi, ayyaf Zufar Robbani, Gian Dwi Sapta
Abstract: The advancement of information technology has accelerated digital transformation in healthcare, particularly through the implementation of Electronic Medical Records (EMRs). However, many healthcare facilities still use… hybrid systems that combine manual and digital record-keeping without proper integration, resulting in inefficient patient data management. This study aims to develop an integrated hybrid Electronic Medical Record system at Damai Clinic to improve healthcare services and patient data management. A descriptive research method with a system development approach was employed through system analysis, problem identification, and system design. The results indicate that the proposed system successfully integrates patient registration, medical examination, pharmacy services, payment, and reporting into a single system. The hybrid implementation allows paper-based records to remain as supporting archives while electronic records become the primary source of patient information. The developed system is expected to improve service efficiency, reduce documentation errors, enhance data security, and support digital transformation in healthcare facilities.

HOSPITAL RESPONSIBILITY FOR MEDICAL MALPRACTICE IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF INDONESIAN CRIMINAL LAW

Kamri, Andi Khaedhir
Abstract: This study aims to analyze the concept and application of hospital criminal liability in cases of medical malpractice in the Indonesian criminal law system, as well as examine the relationship between the individual responsibility… onsibility of medical personnel and the responsibility of hospital institutions. This study uses a qualitative approach with case study methods and a juridical-normative approach enriched with empirical data. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with legal practitioners, medical personnel, and hospital managers, accompanied by a documentary study of laws and regulations, court rulings, and related literature. The results of the study show that criminal liability in cases of medical malpractice is generally still focused on individual medical personnel as direct perpetrators, while the accountability of hospital institutions has not been optimally applied in criminal law enforcement practices. In addition, it was found that there is a complex relationship between the professional responsibilities of medical personnel and the institutional obligations of hospitals in ensuring health service standards, including aspects of supervision, risk management, and medical service systems. This study concludes that it is necessary to strengthen the concept of corporate criminal liability for hospitals in cases of medical malpractice in order to create legal certainty and more balanced protection for patients, medical personnel, and health service institutions. The findings of this study contribute to the development of health law studies and become a basis for consideration for policymakers in formulating more effective regulations and law enforcement mechanisms.

THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND NURSING WORK EFFICIENCY AT KING FAHAD SPECIALIST HOSPITAL – QASSIM CLUSTER 2026

A, Hanan Saad, Alayed, Alayed, Hasan, Hafizah Che
Abstract: Improving the quality of modern healthcare services largely depends on the effectiveness and efficiency of nursing personnel as the frontline providers of patient care. The complex and high-pressure work environment of specialized… pecialized hospitals requires nurses to cope with emotional demands, heavy workloads, and rapid decision-making in critical situations. These conditions make emotional intelligence one of the important psychological factors influencing nursing performance quality. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between emotional intelligence and nursing work efficiency at King Fahad Specialist Hospital – Qassim Cluster, Saudi Arabia, in 2026. This study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. The study population consisted of all active nurses working at King Fahad Specialist Hospital, Qassim Health Cluster. A total of 312 nurses were selected using stratified random sampling. Data were collected using the Emotional Intelligence Scale and Nursing Work Efficiency Scale, both of which had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS 4 software. The results revealed that emotional intelligence had a positive and significant effect on nursing work efficiency, with a path coefficient of 0.642, t-statistics of 9.871, and p-value < 0.001. The R-square value of 0.58 indicated that emotional intelligence explained 58% of the variance in nursing work efficiency. Emotional regulation and empathy emerged as the dominant indicators contributing to improved communication quality, clinical decision-making, and patient care effectiveness. This study concludes that emotional intelligence is an important psychological resource in improving nursing work efficiency in specialized hospitals. The findings strengthen the Job Demands–Resources (JD-R) Theory and Emotional Intelligence Theory in explaining the relationship between psychological resources and nursing performance. This study is expected to provide theoretical contributions to the development of nursing management literature and practical contributions for hospitals in designing healthcare human resource development strategies based on psychological well-being.
