Guide to Research and Development (R&D) for Undergraduate Students of Educational Technology

Paputungan, Frezy, Jassin, Iwan B., Ma'ruf, Abd. Rahman K.
Abstract: Research is the systematic and planned process of collecting, processing, and analyzing data in accordance with scientific principles to seek truth, solve problems, or discover new knowledge. Conducting research often serves… rves as a final project for undergraduate students to complete their studies; for Educational Technology undergraduates, in particular, development research is highly recommended. Development research—or Research and Development (R&D)—is a scientific method used to create new products or improve existing ones, as well as to test their effectiveness. These products may take the form of media, models, modules, or tools. Specifically for Educational Technology undergraduates, this type of research involves a scientific approach to designing, producing, and testing the feasibility of instructional products—such as interactive media, learning models, or digital modules—to address learning challenges. The primary objective of R&D for Educational Technology undergraduates is to produce instructional products that are valid, practical, and effective in solving learning problems and enhancing the quality of the learning process and performance. The benefits of such research include improved skills in creating instructional products, the ability to solve real-world learning problems, and the development of a professional portfolio.

Zuliarti, Naning, Haq, M. Ziyadul, Syukron, Ahmad
Abstract: This article examines the role of Muslim women in the public sphere using a systematic literature review approach. By integrating indexed scientific sources, gender theory, and Islamic studies, this research aims to outline… ine the evolution of women’s roles from historical to contemporary perspectives. Historical approaches and methodological frameworks are employed to structure arguments systematically, covering the basic Islamic concept of women’s roles, the methodology applied in the literature review, analysis of social dynamics and relevant case studies, and critical discussion of challenges and opportunities faced by women in the public sphere. This study also identifies internal and external factors that influence women’s roles, ranging from geographical context to public policy developments. The findings show that interpretations of the concept of equality in Islam have shifted over time and are shaped by socio-political dynamics. This research is expected to stimulate further academic debate on women’s roles in the public sphere and contribute to more inclusive policies. This article explores various historical and contemporary dimensions that shape the role of Muslim women in the public sphere, highlighting both the potential and challenges in translating Islamic values of equality into policy and social practice. It is hoped that this study will enrich academic discourse on the relationship between religion, gender, and modernity, and pave the way for policy initiatives that support women’s empowerment in the Islamic world.

“INDONESIA COULD NEVER”: VICARIOUS POLITICAL ENGAGEMENT AND THE DIGITAL SPECTRE OF COMPARISONS IN INDONESIAN NETIZENS’ DISCOURSE ON ZOHRAN MAMDANI

Akbar, Muhammad Rafly, Yasya, Wichitra
Abstract: This study examines how a non-diasporic public in the Global South engages with a foreign election in which it holds no vote, no residence, and no direct material stake. Rather than asking how Indonesian netizens represent… nt Zohran Mamdani, the first Muslim Mayor of New York City, it asks what talking about Mamdani does for these netizens as members of their own polity, and develops the concept of comparative civic imagination: the use of a foreign political figure as a discursive instrument for evaluating, criticising, and re-imagining one’s own democracy. The study applies qualitative Computer-Mediated Discourse Analysis (CMDA) to public Indonesian-language discourse about Mamdani on platform X between 1 November 2025 and 30 June 2026, drawing on a purposively constructed corpus of 213 units—134 citizen-account units as the analytical core and 79 media-account units as contextual triangulation—recoded by comparative function and affective register rather than by stance toward the figure. The findings show that Indonesian netizens engage Mamdani through a comparative architecture organised by the vernacular frame “Mamdani Indonesia” (45% of citizen units) and enacted through three repertoires: analogical personification, institutional benchmarking, and counterfactual transposition. The discourse is animated by civic despair—crystallised in the idiom “Indonesia could never”—which operates as a participatory rather than an apathetic affect, while a domestic value-compatibility filter of doctrinal, sectarian, and purity tests renders the admired model discursively non-transferable, closing a recursive loop theorised here as a digitally networked spectre of comparisons. The article shifts the analysis of transnational digital engagement away from cosmopolitan and diasporic assumptions toward the vicarious engagement of non-diasporic publics, re-theorises despair as a mode of civic engagement, and recovers Benedict Anderson’s spectre of comparisons for platform-era political communication in the Global South.

Wati, Karlina, Sutrisno, Reza, Rahayu, Vitria Puri
Abstract: This study aims to analyze the economic satisfaction of street vendors after the development of Teras Samarinda in Samarinda City based on indicators of sales volume, business profit, and financial goal attainment. This… study employed a descriptive qualitative approach using primary data obtained through in-depth interviews with five street vendors who were selected purposively based on their experience of operating businesses both before and after the development of Teras Samarinda. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing techniques. To enhance data credibility, time triangulation was applied through data collection conducted at different times and days. The findings indicate that economic satisfaction has not been optimally achieved among the interviewed vendors, as reflected in declining sales volume, reduced customer numbers, and unstable daily income compared to conditions before the development. Most vendors' profits were only sufficient to cover operational expenses, causing financial goals such as savings, capital growth, and business expansion to remain largely unmet. The study concludes that economic satisfaction tended to be low among the interviewed vendors, although they continue maintaining their businesses as an adaptation strategy to survive in a changing business environment

Febriyani, Yanik, Soetjipto, Budi Eko, Churiyah, Madziatul
Abstract: This study aims to map the intellectual structure and global research trends regarding service quality and customer loyalty in the banking industry through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) and bibliometric analysis.… Research data were obtained from the Scopus database covering the period from 2018 to 2025 using the keywords service quality, customer loyalty, and banking industry. The literature selection process was conducted using the PRISMA protocol, resulting in 33 scientific articles that met the inclusion criteria for further analysis. Bibliometric analysis was performed using VOSviewer software to map author collaboration networks, keyword relationships, and the evolution of research themes. The research findings indicate that the concepts of service quality, customer satisfaction, and customer loyalty are core themes dominating the research literature in the banking sector. Additionally, the study highlights the emergence of new themes related to customer experience, digital services, corporate social responsibility, and customer relationship management, which enrich the understanding of customer loyalty formation. Bibliometric visualizations also indicate that research collaboration remains relatively limited and scattered across several small groups of authors, despite the research having been reviewed on a global scale. These findings confirm that research on service quality and customer loyalty in the banking industry continues to evolve toward a more multidimensional approach in tandem with the ongoing digital transformation of services.
