Breaking Up Communication Barriers: Identifying and Overcoming Verbal Communication Barriers in the Completion of Final Projects for Communication Science Students at the State Islamic University of North Sumatra

Siregar, Muhammad Hafiz, Tanjung, Muaz
Abstract: This study aims to explore strategies and techniques to overcome verbal communication barriers in an academic context, particularly between lecturers and students during the completion of final projects at the State Islamic… mic University of North Sumatra (UIN-SU). Using interactive communication theory and uncertainty reduction theory, this research provides a framework for understanding and addressing these barriers. The research method employed is a qualitative approach with data collection techniques including in-depth interviews, direct observation, and related document studies. Data were analyzed using content analysis to identify patterns and trends in verbal communication. Triangulation, peer debriefing, and external checks were used to ensure data validity. The research results indicate that the communication model implemented by lecturers greatly influences the effectiveness of guidance and the quality of students' final projects. Communication barriers are often caused by misunderstandings in written communication and differences in expectations. Proposed solutions include effective communication training for lecturers, the use of written communication guidelines, and regular group and individual guidance sessions. The integration of communication technology such as e-learning platforms and online collaboration tools is also suggested to enhance the communication process. By understanding the dynamics of verbal communication and overcoming existing barriers, this research aims to improve the quality of academic guidance and student outcomes, as well as prepare them for communication challenges in the professional world. This study is relevant not only in the academic context but also has broad practical implications.

Tune Into Gen-Z Groove: Exploring Gen-Z Reception of Music on Radio Prambors Medan

Miranti, Safira Putri, Sikumbang, Ahmad Tamrin
Abstract: This article aims to explore and understand how Generation Z in Medan responds to and interacts with music broadcasted by Radio Prambors, a popular radio station among young people. This study is crucial for identifying… the dynamics between the musical preferences of the younger generation and the way radio content is presented in the digital era, as well as its implications for broadcasting strategies. Using a qualitative approach, this research involves in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis to gather data from Generation Z listeners. Content analysis is used to interpret audience reactions to the music programming, with a source triangulation approach to enhance data validity, combining interviews, social media content analysis, and listener surveys. The research findings reveal three categories of audience reception: hegemony, where listeners fully accept the music choices presented; negotiation, where listeners are satisfied but offer suggestions for a more diverse genre presentation; and opposition, where some less featured music genres cause dissatisfaction among listeners. Furthermore, the interaction between listeners and the radio station shows that Radio Prambors Medan functions not only as a music provider but also as a mediator in a broader communication network that influences the musical tastes and preferences of its listeners. The discussion in this study integrates Manuel Castells' Network Society theory to explain how social and digital networks affect media consumption and interaction among Generation Z, highlighting the crucial role of digital technology adaptation in radio programming strategies. By understanding these dynamics, Radio Prambors Medan can more effectively craft strategies that appeal to its listeners, ultimately maintaining its relevance in the rapidly changing media landscape. The recommendations resulting from this study emphasize the importance of broader digital technology use and more intensive social media interaction to enhance listener engagement and enrich their listening experience.

Based on the results of the research conducted, community participatory planning in development in Lembah Sumara Village, Soyo Jaya District, North Morowali Regency still has many problems. When viewed from the planning stages, the dominant ones who appear active during village fund management deliberations are village officials, members of village consultative bodies and community figures who are considered influential. Likewise, public awareness of the development implementation stages is still very low. Indications of this can be seen in the implementation of village fund management policies for development, starting from the planning process to implementing activities which are almost entirely carried out by the village government.

Abstract: The agreement providing a corporate guarantee does not provide a limit on the nominal amount that will be guaranteed by the corporate guaranteed provider because the corporate guarantee provider will guarantee the entire… debt including interest, fines, fees and other amounts of money that must be paid. In Indonesian limited liability company law, directors are required to seek shareholder approval in the case of pledging more than fifty percent of the company's assets, but in practice, approval from shareholders is not always required to provide a corporate guarantee.
