Perbandingan Hasil Belajar Mahasiswa dan Guru yang Menggunakan Kurikulum Berbasis Nilai Filosofi John Dewey dan Kurikulum Tradisional

Ade Reza Maulana, Desty Endrawati Subroto, Yesi Oktaviana, Friska Maudina Zamri, Nazwa Zahra Tirtana
Abstract: This study aims to compare the effectiveness of a curriculum based on John Dewey's philosophical values with a traditional curriculum in improving student learning outcomes in higher education. Traditional curricula often… n focus on a hierarchy of subjects and rote learning, which tend to neglect concrete experiences, social relevance, and interdisciplinary connections. In contrast, Dewey's educational philosophy emphasizes a student-centered approach, democracy in education, authentic learning experiences, and multidisciplinary problem-solving. Dewey criticized the rigidity of traditional curricula for being inflexible and unresponsive to individual needs. As an alternative, he proposed a dynamic education approach oriented toward real-life experiences, aiming to prepare students for democratic life through the development of critical thinking and social skills. Further research is needed to evaluate the effectiveness of this approach in enhancing learning outcomes and fostering personal development in students. However, implementing approaches based on Dewey's philosophical values, such as Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and Student-Centered Learning (SCL), faces significant challenges. Barriers such as content-based curricula, unsupportive teaching policies, insufficient infrastructure, limited facilities, and high faculty workloads remain major obstacles, as found in the context of education in Afghanistan. This highlights the need for educational reform that focuses not only on curriculum development but also on strengthening infrastructure, policies, and operational support.

Rohman, Desty Endrawati Subroto, Khairunnisa Azra Amalina, Ovi Nabila, M. Ahyudin, Dewi Yanah
Abstract: Learning motivation is the drive that encourages individuals to remain enthusiastic about learning. Previous research has explained various forms of motivation, such as internal and external motivation. One aspect of internal… ernal motivation is self-awareness or Mindfulness. However, research on Mindfulness as a factor influencing learning motivation, particularly in Generation Z, is still quite limited. Therefore, this study aims to examine the role of Mindfulness in enhancing learning motivation in Generation Z. This research uses purposive sampling to select samples that meet the research criteria. The participants involved are Generation Z individuals aged between 12 and 27 years, residing in Banten, and currently enrolled as active students. To measure the level of learning motivation, the Academic Motivation Scale (AMS) is used, while the Five Facet Mindfulness Scale (FMMQ-10) is used to measure the level of Mindfulness. The results of the study show a significant positive relationship between Mindfulness and learning motivation, with a regression coefficient of 0.152. This means that the higher an individual's level of Mindfulness, the higher their learning motivation will be. These findings suggest that Mindfulness can play an important role in improving learning motivation, especially when applied alongside other supporting factors such as social support, emotional regulation, and a conducive learning environment. This study provides evidence that a Mindfulness-based approach has the potential to be applied in strategies to enhance learning motivation. Therefore, the development of programs integrating Mindfulness practices into students' daily lives, particularly among Generation Z, could be an effective step in improving the quality of their learning experience.

Konsep Kovenan dalam Perjanjian Lama: Analisis Kitab Pentateukh dari Perspektif Historis dan Teologis

Maxsi Tupamahu
Abstract: This study explores the concept of covenant in the Pentateuch through a qualitative-descriptive approach that integrates historical and theological analysis of God’s covenants with Noah, Abraham, and Israel at Sinai. Historical… istorical findings indicate that the covenantal structures in the Pentateuch correspond to treaty forms common in the Ancient Near East, particularly suzerainty treaties, yet the biblical covenants reveal a fundamental distinction by emphasizing God’s gracious initiative independent of political negotiations or human strategic interests. The theological examination affirms that the covenant is not merely a legalistic contract but a manifestation of God’s relational commitment that shapes the identity of His people as a covenant community grounded in divine faithfulness and promise. The Torah is understood as an expression of faith response arising from this covenantal relationship, rather than a prerequisite for salvation, thereby retaining its significance for the contemporary church as an ethical and spiritual framework guiding Christian praxis, character formation, and communal responsibility amid rapidly evolving social contexts. The integration of historical and theological perspectives demonstrates that the Pentateuchal covenant encompasses intertwined dynamics of grace, obligation, and identity formation, contributing theoretically to Old Testament studies, particularly covenant theology, while offering practical implications for ecclesial faith formation, the strengthening of communal spirituality, and ministry orientation rooted in a holistic understanding of the divine–human relationship. This research underscores the urgency of interpreting the Pentateuchal covenant through an interdisciplinary lens to meet the theological, ethical, and pastoral challenges faced by the church in the contemporary era.
