Abstract:The rapid proliferation of AI-powered marketing technologies in emerging markets poses a fundamental challenge to culturally-grounded micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs): how can algorithmic imperatives be reconciled…
ciled with indigenous value systems that define not only business practice but collective identity? Despite growing research on both AI adoption in SMEs and indigenous knowledge preservation, scholarship rarely examines how traditional values actively mediate rather than merely moderate commercial technology adoption. This study addresses that gap by investigating how MSMEs in Makassar City, Indonesia, negotiate AI marketing integration while preserving siri’ na pacce, the Bugis-Makassar philosophical framework centred on dignity (siri’) and solidarity (pacce). Employing interpretive phenomenology integrated with Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR), the study conducted 23 in-depth interviews and three focus group discussions with 44 MSME owners and key personnel across traditional culinary, artisan craft, ethnic fashion, and digital service sectors. Template analysis generated four overarching themes: (1) value-based technology discernment, wherein siri’ na pacce operates as an active epistemological filter for evaluating AI tools; (2) strategic selective adoption, wherein enterprises accept algorithmically aligned functions while rejecting culturally incompatible features; (3) cultural indigenization of technology, wherein AI systems are actively reoriented toward communal rather than individualistic ends; and (4) constrained agency under platform power, wherein algorithmic visibility systems penalise cultural non-conformity with market exclusion. These findings challenge technological determinism and advance decolonial computing theory by demonstrating that indigenous values simultaneously enable epistemological agency and are constrained by structural power asymmetries, a duality insufficiently theorised in prior technology adoption frameworks. The study calls for regulatory frameworks establishing indigenous data sovereignty, participatory AI co-design with local communities, and cooperative digital infrastructure as conditions for authentic, rather than performative, cultural integration.
Abstract:This study examines work culture, job satisfaction (mediator), and leadership (moderator) as predictors of employee performance at PT Bank BJB Syariah Serang Branch, where average KPI achievement stood at only 90.5% in 2024.…
024. A census survey of all 190 employees was analyzed using PLS-SEM via SmartPLS.The results show: (1) work culture is positively associated with employee performance (β = 0.512, p < .001); (2) work culture is positively associated with job satisfaction (β = 0.991, p < .001); (3) job satisfaction is positively associated with employee performance (β = 0.160, p < .001); (4) job satisfaction partially mediates the work culture–performance relationship (β = 0.159, p < .001); and (5) leadership significantly moderates the work culture–performance relationship with a buffering effect (p < .001). This study extends JD-R Theory to faith-based organizations by demonstrating that Islamic values reshape job resources: work culture becomes a dominant predictor of satisfaction, and leadership operates as a buffering moderator through substitution mechanisms. These findings highlight the strategic importance of strengthening Islamic work culture, effective leadership, and job satisfaction as key predictors of employee performance in Islamic banking.
Abstract:This study aims to analyze the fundamental condition and assess the investment feasibility of eleven issuers that consistently appeared in the Sri Kehati Index during the 2020–2024 period. Fundamental analysis was conducted…
ucted using the financial ratios TATO, ROE, EPS, CR, DER, and DPR. The results show that UNVR and KLBF demonstrated high efficiency in asset management, while BBCA and BMRI exhibited strong profitability. JSMR had an aggressive capital structure but was supported by adequate liquidity. Meanwhile, UNVR and BBRI stood out for their generous dividend distribution policies. Stock valuation was carried out using two approaches: PER and PBV. Based on PER, nine issuers were classified as undervalued because their intrinsic values exceeded market prices, while two issuers (DSNG and SMGR) were considered overvalued. In contrast, the PBV approach indicated that ten issuers were overvalued, with only DSNG being undervalued. These differing results suggest that PER focuses more on a company’s earnings performance, whereas PBV emphasizes its book value. Therefore, stock investment assessment should be carried out comprehensively by considering more than one valuation method.
Abstract:This research is motivated by the importance of building and maintaining customer loyalty at the Botani Bina Rahmah Sharia Rural Financing Bank (BPRS), a financial institution that plays a strategic role in strengthening…
the sharia-based economy and promoting financial inclusion at the micro level. The phenomenon of increasing account openings without a corresponding increase in customer retention indicates challenges in managing long-term relationships with customers. Trust and commitment are believed to be important factors in creating loyalty, but the effectiveness of both is often influenced by the level of customer satisfaction. Therefore, this study was conducted to analyze satisfaction as a mediating variable in the relationship between trust and commitment and customer loyalty. This study aims to analyze: (1) the effect of trust on customer loyalty, (2) the effect of commitment on customer loyalty, (3) the effect of trust on loyalty through customer satisfaction as a mediating variable, and (4) the effect of commitment on loyalty through customer satisfaction as a mediating variable. The research approach used is quantitative with a cross-sectional design. Data were collected by distributing Likert-scale questionnaires to 100 active customer respondents of BPRS Botani Bina Rahmah. Data analysis was carried out using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM–PLS) with the help of SmartPLS software to test the validity and reliability of constructs and the relationships between variables in the structural model. The results of the study indicate that trust has a positive and significant effect on customer loyalty, while commitment does not have a significant direct effect on loyalty. Customer satisfaction is proven to act as a significant mediating variable in the relationship between trust and loyalty, as well as between commitment and loyalty. These findings confirm that BPRS customer loyalty is more influenced by the level of trust and satisfaction built through service quality and conformity to Sharia values. Practically, BPRS management needs to strengthen contract transparency, improve service consistency, and optimize digital channels to strengthen trust, increase satisfaction, and ultimately encourage sustainable customer loyalty.
Abstract:This study investigates the role of acquisition premiums in mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and their impact on shareholder wealth, focusing on five major Indian deals in pharmaceuticals, retail, banking, steel, and renewable…
able energy sectors. Potential synergies often justify acquisition premiums ranging from approximately 15% to 40% above target companies’ market values. However, market responses suggest that such premiums may not consistently result in value creation for acquiring firms' shareholders. Empirical findings reveal mixed outcomes: Sun Pharma’s acquisition of Ranbaxy led to a 9.8% share price increase within five days, while Tata Steel’s high-premium acquisition of Bhushan Steel saw only a 1.7% gain. In contrast, deals like Reliance–Future Retail and Tata Power–Welspun Power showed minimal or negative returns, despite sizable premiums. These patterns indicate that premium size alone is not a reliable predictor of post-deal shareholder wealth creation. The study concludes that M&A success depends more on strategic fit, market timing, and sectoral dynamics than on the premium offered. This analysis contributes to the broader M&A discourse by offering evidence-based insights into how premium valuations can either maximise or dilute shareholder value, aiding investors, corporate strategists, and policy analysts in deal assessment.
Abstract:The focus of research shifts from the dominance of positivism to a non-positivistic approach that places meaning, interpretation, and social construction at the center of analysis. One of the main approaches within this…
paradigm is Grounded Theory Research (GTR), a qualitative method developed by Glaser and Strauss (1967) to build empirically data-based theory through a rigorous inductive process. In the accounting context, GTR becomes increasingly relevant because reporting practices, accountability, and financial decision-making cannot be understood solely through objective measurements, but rather through social interactions, organizational values, and the interpretations of the actors involved (Ahrens & Chapman, 2006). This article aims to examine the role and relevance of GTR in modern accounting research by highlighting its philosophical foundations, methodological procedures, and contributions to the development of practice-based accounting theory. Through a systematic literature review, it is found that GTR has the ability to uncover the social dynamics that shape accounting practices such as accountability, ethics, managerial control, and institutional legitimacy that have previously been overlooked by positivistic approaches (Charmaz, 2006; Bryant & Charmaz, 2007). GTR has also proven relevant in the context of changing reporting systems, accounting digitalization, and the integration of sustainability principles such as ESG, where meaning, professional identity, and interpretive processes are dominant elements (Adams & Larrinaga, 2019). The study's findings confirm that GTR not only offers a systematic method for data collection and analysis, but also provides a more reflective, context-sensitive epistemological framework capable of generating substantive theory that is truly rooted in organizational reality. Thus, GTR is a powerful methodological alternative in enriching accounting knowledge, while providing a deeper understanding of how accounting practices are executed, negotiated, and interpreted in everyday organizational life.
Abstract:This study aims to analyze the effect of Procedural Justice on Organizational Citizenship Behaviour (OCB) through Perceived Organizational Support (POS) among hotel employees in Makassar City. The research is motivated by…
y the declining extra-role behaviors of employees, which affect service quality, allegedly driven by perceived procedural injustice and low organizational support. Using a quantitative approach and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM), data were collected through questionnaires from employees of three- to five-star hotels. The results reveal that Procedural Justice has a positive and significant effect on both POS and OCB, directly and indirectly. Moreover, POS functions as both a mediator and a moderator, strengthening the relationship between procedural justice and OCB. The R² and Q² values indicate a high explanatory and predictive relevance, while the Goodness of Fit Index confirms the empirical adequacy of the model. These findings support the Social Exchange Theory (Blau, 1964) and Organizational Support Theory (Eisenberger et al., 1986), asserting that fairness and organizational support foster reciprocal relationships that motivate employees to engage in voluntary, extra-role behaviors. This study contributes theoretically by extending the application of social exchange theory within the hospitality context and provides practical implications for hotel management to enhance procedural justice and organizational support as strategies to improve employees’ organizational citizenship behaviour.
Abstract:In an increasingly competitive business world, building customer loyalty does not solely depend on product quality but also on interactions that foster trust and emotional connection. This study explores the role of Human…
n Resources (HR) as Brand Ambassadors in enhancing customer loyalty through a qualitative approach. The research method employed is a case study, utilizing in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and document analysis as data collection techniques. The findings indicate that internal brand ambassadors are more effective than celebrities or influencers as they have a deeper understanding of the product and company values. Direct interaction between internal brand ambassadors and customers creates a more authentic experience, strengthens trust, and enhances brand loyalty. Additionally, value alignment between employees and the company plays a crucial role in the success of this strategy. This study suggests that companies aiming to improve customer loyalty can optimize the role of HR as brand ambassadors. By fostering more personal and authentic interactions, internal brand ambassadors contribute to the development of long-term relationships between customers and brands
Abstract:In an increasingly competitive business landscape, establishing a strong brand position is not merely an option but a necessity. Effective brand positioning not only helps brands differentiate themselves from competitors…
but also fosters a deeper emotional connection with customers. This study aims to analyze the relationship between brand positioning and customer loyalty using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. By reviewing previous research published in indexed journals, this study identifies key factors influencing the success of brand positioning, including product differentiation, customer perception, and brand communication consistency.
The findings indicate that brands with a clear and consistent position in customers' minds are more likely to build long-term loyalty. Customers who feel connected to a brand’s values and identity are more inclined to remain loyal and even recommend the brand to others. Furthermore, this study reveals that the transition to the digital era has significantly altered how brands establish and maintain their position, with digital marketing strategies and message personalization emerging as critical factors in sustaining customer loyalty.
This research underscores the importance of businesses not only in crafting a strong brand image but also in ensuring that customer experiences align with the brand’s promised values. By understanding and implementing effective brand positioning principles, companies can foster deeper and more sustainable relationships with their customers while enhancing their competitive edge in the market.
Abstract:Human relations management is an important aspect of an organization's success, especially in creating a harmonious, productive, and ethical work environment. This study aims to explore the integration of philosophical values…
alues in human relations management through the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach. The Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method was used in this study to analyze and synthesize various previous studies related to human relations management. The SLR process involves identifying, screening, and evaluating studies from a variety of sources, including international indexed journals, to gain an in-depth understanding of key trends and issues in the implementation of humanitarian relations management. Of the 150 articles found, 52 articles met the inclusion criteria for further analysis. By analyzing the literature from various academic databases, this study identifies key concepts in philosophy, such as humanism, deontological ethics, utilitarianism, and existentialism, that are relevant to support the management of interpersonal relationships in organizations. The results of the study show that the application of philosophical values can improve the quality of relationships between individuals through more ethical decision-making, value-oriented leadership, and strengthening mutual respect in work interactions. In addition, this study reveals a significant gap in the literature related to the practical implementation of philosophy in the context of modern management, especially in certain sectors. These findings make a theoretical contribution in expanding the understanding of the role of philosophy in human relations management as well as offering recommendations for further research and practical applications in organizational environments.
