Rini, Puspa, Ridwan, Mochamad, Purmini, Purmini, Rospida, Lela
Abstract: This study examines the effects of health, education, economic, and infrastructure expenditures, economic growth, investment, and the Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) on the Human Development Index (HDI) in Indonesia.… a. It also compares the determinants of HDI between Western and Eastern Indonesia. Using a quantitative approach, the study applies panel data regression with the Common Effect Model and Ordinary Least Squares method. Secondary data from 2012–2021 were obtained from Statistics Indonesia, the Ministry of Finance, and other official institutions. The results show that all independent variables simultaneously have a significant effect on HDI. Partially, education expenditure, infrastructure expenditure, and investment have positive and significant effects, while health expenditure, economic expenditure, economic growth, and LFPR are statistically insignificant. Regional analysis reveals different determinants of HDI. In Western Indonesia, education expenditure, infrastructure expenditure, economic growth, and LFPR significantly affect HDI. In Eastern Indonesia, infrastructure expenditure, investment, and LFPR are significant determinants. These findings demonstrate that regional disparities in human development are associated with differences in economic capacity, infrastructure quality, investment distribution, connectivity, and development governance. Therefore, place-based development policies are required to improve the effectiveness and equity of human development, particularly in Eastern Indonesia.

Abstract: Mental health is a strategic issue in economics because it affects the quality of human resources and regional economic productivity. This study aims to analyze the impact of schizophrenia, depression, and suicidal ideation… ion on economic losses across provinces in Indonesia and to examine the role of depression treatment as a mediating variable. The study employs a quantitative approach using explanatory research and a cross-sectional design based on secondary data from 2023. Data were obtained from the Indonesian Health Survey (SKI) by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia and Regional Gross Domestic Product (PDRB) data from the Central Statistics Agency, with 38 provinces in Indonesia as the units of analysis. Data analysis was conducted using descriptive statistics, multiple linear regression, and causal mediation analysis. Depression is the variable with the greatest negative impact on regional economic productivity. Furthermore, treatment for depression was found to act as a significant mediator capable of mitigating the negative impact of depression on economic loss. These findings indicate that improved access to mental health services contributes to increased community economic productivity and a reduction in regional economic losses. This study makes a theoretical contribution to the development of development economics and health economics research through the integration of mental health variables and regional economic productivity. Practically, the research results underscore the importance of integrating mental health services into regional development policies to improve the quality of human resources and reduce economic loss in Indonesia.

Do High Potential Employees Always Possess Emotional Intelligence? A Narrative Review of the Competency Based Model in Indonesian Multisector Organizations (2024–2025)

Setiawan, Anang
Abstract: This narrative review explores whether high-potential workers (HiPo) within Indonesian organizations across various sectors consistently exhibit elevated levels of emotional intelligence (EI), and it assesses the relevance… ce of the Competency Based Model proposed by Boyatzis in the identification and development of HiPos. The review compiles freely accessible scholarly articles from 2024 to 2025, with a focus on research from Indonesia and includes one primary benchmark study on high-potential individuals for comparison, as studies specific to Indonesian HiPo are scarce. Findings reveal that being classified as a HiPo does not necessarily correlate with having high EI. Research directly related to high potential employees indicates that cognitive-intrapersonal skills such as initiative, desire for learning, and the ability to think outside conventional limits are stronger indicators of high potential than emotional-interpersonal skills. Research from various Indonesian sectors, including manufacturing, energy, construction, and public services, suggests that while EI plays a significant role in enhancing employee productivity, work performance, job satisfaction, and effectiveness in management, its influence typically operates through mediating factors instead of serving as a direct predictor. Furthermore, talent management research in Indonesia shows that numerous organizations still depend on performance evaluations and fragmented methods instead of comprehensive competency frameworks. This review concludes that the Competency Based Model is relevant in Indonesian organizations across different sectors; however, it should be viewed as encompassing a range of competencies rather than a single attribute. While EI is valuable, it is not an essential or sufficient criterion for determining high-potential employees.

The Effect of Patient Wait Time Efficiency on Patient Satisfaction Level

Zuya, Caesaria Sinta, Paramarta, Vip
Abstract: Patient satisfaction is a key indicator of health service quality and is closely related to loyalty, intention to repeat visit, and institutional reputation 1. Waiting time reflects the efficiency of the process and the… responsiveness of services at the stages of registration, administration, and consultation which have a direct impact on the perception of quality and satisfaction 2. Literature review shows a consistent pattern: long wait times decrease satisfaction, while short, predictable wait times increase satisfaction, especially in outpatient services that have higher expectations of timeliness 3. Waiting longer than 60 minutes is associated with a significant decrease in satisfaction scores, making the management of wait time duration and variability crucial.  Determining factors include queue design, health worker capacity, administrative complexity, and timeliness of doctors; Meanwhile, digital solutions (e.g. Mobile JKN) speed up the pre-visit and visit process and related to a 5.6 reduction in waiting time. This review summarizes the findings of 2015–2024, maps the determinants and mechanisms of the relationship between wait time and satisfaction, and offers managerial strategies for healthcare facilities in Indonesia and internationally 7
