Background: Social anxiety is considered a mental health concern that may hinder many adolescents from interacting and adapting to their environment. One factor associated with the emergence of social anxiety is body image, which refers to an individual's perception of their body shape and appearance. However, many adolescents still experience low self-confidence, worry about others' judgments, and tend to avoid social situations. Based on these conditions, further research is needed to examine body image and social anxiety among tenth-grade students at SMKN 9 Kota Tangerang. Methods: This study employed a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. A total of 190 respondents were included, and data were analyzed using the Spearman Rank test. Results: Most respondents were in the middle adolescent period (94.7%) and were female (71.6%). The majority of respondents had a negative body image, accounting for 111 respondents (58.4%), while 75 respondents (39.5%) experienced high levels of social anxiety. The Spearman Rank analysis showed a strong negative correlation (r = -0.728; p = 0.000). Conclusion: Adolescents' perceptions of their physical condition, body shape, and appearance have a strong, inverse, and significant association with the level of anxiety experienced when interacting in social environments. Among tenth-grade students at SMKN 9 Kota Tangerang, increasingly negative perceptions of oneself and one's physical appearance may be associated with greater feelings of worry, low self-confidence, discomfort, and fear of negative evaluation by others. These conditions may cause adolescents to experience greater anxiety when meeting, communicating, and interacting with people in their surroundings. Conversely, adolescents with more positive perceptions and greater acceptance of their physical appearance tend to experience lower levels of anxiety in various social situations.
Abstract:Climate change is increasingly recognized as a major driver of internal displacement, particularly in fragile states like Libya where environmental shocks intersect with political instability and weak governance. This study…
udy investigates how climate-induced internal displacement affects social cohesion in Libya’s coastal cities, focusing on Tripoli, Misrata, and Benghazi. Using a qualitative research design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and field observations involving internally displaced persons (IDPs), host community members, and local stakeholders. Findings reveal that environmental factors such as drought and flooding have forced vulnerable populations to migrate from Libya’s interior regions to urban coastal centers. These displacements have strained public services, exacerbated competition for resources, and led to growing tensions between displaced populations and host communities. Social trust, mutual support, and access to services have all been undermined, while IDPs often face legal invisibility, psychological stress, and marginalization. Despite these challenges, the research identifies promising local initiatives that have fostered integration and rebuilt social ties, including joint livelihood programs and inclusive municipal governance efforts. However, these efforts remain fragmented and unsustainable without broader policy support. The study concludes that to prevent further erosion of social cohesion, Libya must adopt a national legal framework to recognize and protect climate-displaced persons, strengthen municipal capacities, and integrate displacement considerations into urban planning and climate adaptation strategies. This article contributes to emerging literature on climate migration and urban resilience by providing grounded, context-specific insights into how environmental displacement reshapes the social fabric in post-conflict settings.

and cultural fragmentation, ethical journalism becomes crucial in constructing inclusive narratives and supporting peaceful cross-border relations. The objective of this research is to identify how Islamic values particularly the principle of rahmatan lil-‘alamin (mercy to all creation) inform journalistic practices that contribute to intercultural understanding and regional diplomacy. Using a qualitative, library-based approach, the study examines comparative media discourse from Indonesia and Singapore to highlight patterns of ethical communication that emphasize compassion, responsibility, and soft power engagement. The results reveal that Islamic journalistic communication offers a transformative model to counter stereotypes, foster mutual respect, and enhance transnational solidarity. This study contributes to the broader academic discourse on Islamic media ethics, intercultural dialogue, and religion-based peacebuilding by proposing a theoretical framework for ethical Islamic journalism applicable in other multicultural societies across Southeast Asia.

various elements including educational attainment, joblessness, income per capita, and spending per capita. The information utilized in this analysis is sourced from the Central Bureau of Statistics, specifically the proportions of impoverished individuals, average duration of education, rates of open unemployment, income per capita, and expenditure per capita. Findings reveal the establishment of three distinct clusters based on poverty attributes: Cluster 1 exhibiting a low poverty level, Cluster 2 displaying a moderate poverty level, and Cluster 3 indicating a high poverty level. Results from the One Way Anova test indicate notable differences in poverty traits across the clusters. It is anticipated that this research will aid the government in developing more suitable and effective strategies for tackling poverty in regions grappling with significant poverty challenges.
Abstract:The rapid expansion of digital communication technologies has transformed the structure of human interaction within hyperconnected societies. This study examines the emergence of digital intimacy and its implications for…
the decline of authentic human presence in contemporary communication practices. Using a qualitative conceptual approach grounded in communication theory, media ecology, existential philosophy, and critical digital studies, this article explores how social media platforms, algorithmic systems, and virtual interaction reshape intimacy, identity, and relational experience. The findings reveal that hyperconnectivity produces a paradoxical condition in which individuals remain continuously connected yet increasingly experience emotional fragmentation, loneliness, performative communication, and communicative fatigue. The study introduces the concept of “presence erosion” to explain the weakening of embodied interaction and existential closeness caused by excessive technological mediation. Furthermore, the article argues that digital capitalism commodifies emotional expression and social interaction through engagement-driven communication systems that prioritize visibility over authenticity. Although digital technologies provide opportunities for global connectivity and social participation, they simultaneously threaten the depth of human relationships by replacing direct presence with symbolic and algorithmic interaction. This study contributes to global communication scholarship by offering an interdisciplinary theoretical framework for understanding the crisis of presence in digital civilization. Ultimately, the article emphasizes the importance of reconstructing communicative ethics grounded in empathy, attentiveness, and authentic human engagement within increasingly mediated social environments.
Abstract:This study investigates the influence of Financial Literacy on Consumptive Behavior among students, with PayLater Usage as an intervening variable and Self-Control as a moderating variable. The rapid adoption of digital…
credit services, such as PayLater, has reshaped consumption patterns, particularly among young users, by promoting convenience and flexible payment options. This research aims to understand how financial literacy and self-control interact to influence students’ consumption behavior through PayLater usage. Using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with a sample of 100 students from the Faculty of Economics and Business at Universitas Teknologi Sumbawa, the study finds that Financial Literacy has a positive influence on both PayLater Usage and Consumptive Behavior. Interestingly, while financial literacy is generally expected to mitigate consumptive tendencies, it indirectly contributes to impulsive spending by encouraging the use of PayLater. PayLater Usage is identified as an intervening variable that strengthens the relationship between Financial Literacy and Consumptive Behavior, highlighting the role of convenience and perceived purchasing power in promoting consumption. Moreover, Self-Control negatively moderates the relationship between PayLater Usage and Consumptive Behavior, indicating that students with high self-control are less likely to exhibit impulsive spending despite using PayLater.
Abstract:This article aims to analyze the role of journalistic media in shaping the contemporary political landscape, focusing on its ability to manipulate and direct public opinion and policy. Considering the media's dominance in…
n agenda setting, this study highlights the urgency of understanding its broad influence on democracy and public policy. Journalistic media, which has transformed from a passive information provider to an active opinion shaper, plays a crucial role in this fast-paced and widespread information era. Therefore, a deep understanding of how media shapes political narratives is essential to maintaining the integrity of the democratic process. The methodology used in this research is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR), which involves the collection and analysis of data from previously published sources to build a comprehensive understanding of the media's role in politics. This approach allows for the identification of trends, challenges, and the broader impact of media on politics. Additionally, this study employs theoretical analysis by combining Media Dependency Theory and Agenda Setting Theory to examine how public dependence on media and media's power in setting the agenda influence political dynamics. The results of the study indicate that media often leverages its strategic position to direct public opinion, which can significantly impact election outcomes and public policy. The high public dependence on media for information makes the media a powerful tool in shaping the political agenda, often benefiting media owners or specific interest groups. Based on the findings and discussion, this article recommends the need for stricter media oversight and increased media literacy among the public to reduce bias and ensure that the media plays its role as an effective watchdog rather than a biased opinion shaper. These recommendations aim to support policies that promote transparency and integrity in journalism, ensuring that the media can continue to be a pillar of healthy democracy without compromising objectivity or accountability.
